This place easily has the nicest combination selection of beers on tap and pizza in town. If you have a hankerin’ for some fantastic pizza(with loads of toppings choices) and an insurmountable list of beers to dive into, I highly suggest this place. Everyone, of course, has their own preferences for pizza. It is that magical food that accumulates followings for localized, specialized, and a plethora of other accolades. Ergo, I can’t tell you that this is the best pizza in town. I CAN tell you that ANY pizza is made loads better by the atmosphere you eat it in, and the beverage you enjoy it with. For this reason, I call backcountry mia casa la pizza. With dim lighting, great space, and some highly favorable booths, this place is just comfortable. Furthermore, this place offers my favorite type of pizza, which I haven’t found anywhere else with merit — Grilled Chicken, Broccoli, and Roma Tomatoes. Just thought I’d mention that.

3.5÷5 the service is good/friendly. but when you go here on a busy night the cooks seem to just fold under pressure. two recent occasions I’ve been in on crowded nights and the pizza was under cooked(doughy and sauce kind of cold). But the very first time I went here the food was very good so as long as they get it done right, zero complaints.

Really glad to find this place after a day of hiking. Friendly service and half price apps and $ 1 off draft beers for happy hour. They have tons of beers on draft– the Telluride brown ale was soooo tasty! We ordered the Works pizza and were really happy with it too. The crust had great flavor. If we’re back in Boulder I’d check this place out again!

Absolutely love this place! Does not get the recognition it deserves. This place is heaven for any beer lover. I used to live less than a mile from this place. Their beer menu is endless and make sure to go for their tastings. I had gone for the Brasserie French Montagnes tasting and had some amazing Scottish ales and sours for less than $ 10. I would give more than 5 stars for this place if possible.

i visited on a snowy Friday evening. Mel and Cody were great bartenders, helping me wade through their huge selection of items on tap. i feel like i got a small beer education from them both. i settled on a the Mahrs Brau Mastodon aged lager. i saw a couple of interesting pizza combinations, but i like banana peppers so ordered a small The Works pizza. the peppers totally made the pizza. i also really liked the pizza sauce and chewy pizza dough. i had a great evening at the bar watching the Sharks game, eating my pizza, enjoying fantastic beer, and being well taken care of by a pair of professional bartenders. i’m just sorry that it’s taken me this long to visit. i will definitely be back. (btw, they have a small game room too — with pinball !)

It was a nice surprise to find that this pizza and beer joint on a typically dismal stretch of Boulder suburban sprawl served excellent cask conditioned beers — indeed more than one. I had a truly authentic English style pale from Hogshead brewery in Denver. The beer was just right in terms of freshness, temperature and natural carbonation tho’ with use of an aerator as the beer is pulled into the glass, which I have not found common in the US. The result was a lovely pint. Did not try the food or other beer(the selection is vast) but greatly enjoyed this place.

The best beer selection of any bar I’ve ever been to — hands down. The pizza was excellent as well!

I really, really, relished my pizza pie! Mediterranean a best seller and I can attest to its savory, tastiness. Large is no joke and will feed a village(slices as big as my hand)!

From entering the restaurant our experience was doomed. My nephew went in to put our names while we found parking. The hostess station was a disaster and totally unprofessional. A party called as my nephew stood there to get a table. She promptly answered the phone and had my nephew waiting. She took the party of 6 ahead who was on the phone and proceeded to write down a table number for them. Finally she took our name down and gave us a 45m wait. The hostess was sooo inconsiderate knowing she had a party of 7 waiting in front of her. Then she decided to speak to her CO hostess loudly for us to hear, «it hasn’t been 45 minutes yet.» We were all shocked but we really didn’t want to ruin a perfect evening. We decided to let that slide until we got our pizzas. We ordered a large pizza which half was severely overcooked. A Hawaiian pizza with no pineapples which the waitress decided to sub cold pineapple then finally realized to ask if she should warm it up. It was so bad! Who gives a bowl of pineapples? You want us to eat it like a taco? That was the last straw for my family and decided to tell the manager our experience which was an experience itself. We told you what was wrong so go deal with it. Give us the check so we could finally get out of there! He decided to come back after the fact to state his findings. It’s a management problem! Tell your hostesses to be nicer, your waiters to be attentive, and your cooks to be precise. Don’t come back and tell us what you think happened. Im still hungry I really wished it could’ve been better. My nephew kept suggesting to go and we decided to try it. He loved backcountry pizza!

Backcountry was recommended to us by some family who live in Denver, since it was about 5 minutes from where we were staying we decided to see if it lived up to the hype we had heard the night before. Aside from the impressive beer menu, and the polite and accommodating staff, we were impressed with our mac & cheese wedge appetizer. I’m not one to go too crazy for fried mac & cheese, but the crispness of the batter with the creaminess of the cheese sauce is something I remember well. We ordered one medium supreme pizza, and it arrived at our table within 15 minutes. The speedy delivery had me nervous, but it apparently had no affect on the quality of the pie. The crust on the bottom was perfectly browned, the sauce was a nice balance with the thin layer of cheese that sat below the ideal amount of veggies and meat. We don’t come to Boulder often, but when we do, I’ll be sure to stop by Backcountry again.

I came here with my coworkers. The place looks a bit shady from the outside but the inside was huge and pretty nice. There were two big dining rooms(one with a bar) and another room for arcades. We were the only table in one of the dining rooms because we had such a big party. It was sooo dark where we sat. The server impressively took our drink and food orders without writing them down and she did not screw anything up! We ordered 3 large pizzas for 7 people(4 guys, 3 girls) and had 3 slices left over. 1.5BBQ chicken: It was o.k. They kind of just threw the chicken on top or something because as soon as anyone picked up a piece, all of the chicken fell off of the slice and we had to scoop the pieces back onto the pizza and fold it like a taco to keep it from falling off. The chicken was a bit fried and crispy on the outside. I preferred the pizza w/o the chicken. 0.5 Nediterranean: It was my least favorite. Not too tasty. 0.5 Garden Fresh; This was probably my favorite but it was nothing spectacular. 0.5 Meat Grinders: This was my second favorite. Just your average meat-ful pizza. Overall, the pizzas were kind of hard and very thin. Not really my style.

Went with a group of 6 and all of us were extremely satisfied with our meals. I had the Mr. Pesto pizza(added fresh mushrooms) and it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had ! The bottom of the crust is very thin but the outer crust is amazing. Highly recommend the pizza– all ingredients are very fresh.

I went to a tailgate party here. The beer selection is everything a beer drinker could want. My server was Cody and he did an excellent job — kid knows his beers! He gave me good detail on every type of beer I asked about. I LOVED the Comrade Super damn IPA — it was a crisp/fresh beer. The place itself was easy walking distance from the stadium and the staff was all friendly. This is also a good place to park for the game @$ 15. I had a few different slices of their pizza which I found to be good, not amazing, but good! I’d have no problem returning here for pizza and beer, you will not be disappointed.

This place is alright and I guess it depends on why you are coming here. The beer selection is normally really good with varieties you normally don’t find in local establishments. The pizza was fine but it wouldn’t be a reason for me to come back. The atmosphere works especially before a CU game. It could get really crowded but it’s nice to have a seat to take in some grub and drink before hitting the game.

Went here after a day of hiking outside of Boulder. The pizza was delicious, although it was pretty pricey(hence the 4-star rating). My favorite thing about this spot was the beer selection, which was robust to say the least! They had a lot of great sours and other beers that I haven’t seen at any other bars before. Definitely give it a try!

The beer section is incredible, and I’ll return just for that. The food is decent, the service is decent. We went on the first game of the NFL season without knowing to watch the U.S. Open and thought the hostess was helpful, the people behind the curtains made us feel pretty awkward for even asking to change the channel of a small television. Go for the beer…

Decent pizza. Really great selection of beers, one of the best in Boulder really. Unfortunate that a lot of people don’t make this their destination because it’s just a pizza shop. I often do the same but we should all feel guilty about that… There’s a bar area but also a dining area, game room and back conference room. Everything you could need to suit your needs. Except the right business name.

I landed here by pure accident a couple of weeks back as a result of missing the bus to go snowboarding at Eldora, so the day wound up turning into a restaurant/bar hop. The first thing that drew me in was outside seating, which was a great spot to plunk down the mounds of snowboard gear I had been carrying for blocks. A nice breeze was whipping through. I went with a 12″ cheese pizza, which was awesome. It was a bit on the well done/burnt side, which is how I usually order it. Right on the money. The menu appeared to have a vast amount of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers as well. The hardest decision was determining which one of the hundreds of beers to sample. I unfortunately can’t quite remember the name, but after six pints of one particular IPA that had a peach type flavor to it, I was more than good to go. The staff members were great. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.
