I went on a 7 day silent meditation retreat here in 1986. There were alternating sessions of sitting and walking meditation, and no speaking, except an occasional session with the monk who led it. It was a profound experience and stays with me still. I remember the beauty of the trees and energy of peace and loving kindness from the monks(I seem to recall 2, from Burma). I’m glad to know it’s still existing. Looks like they don’t do onsite retreats anymore, though it appears website has not been updated since 2007

Recommended if on the way, but dont need to go out of your way for it. A peaceful establishment found by accident on the way to Big Basin. Great for a 10 minute leg stretch but nothing more Still, the attention to detail at this site was amazing for being out in the quiet boulder creek, and certainly wasn’t expecting this one. Regardless, though there are many bigger and more attended religious sites in Asia, I enjoyed the nice quiet stop which really calmed me down after a long drive.

While we were driving along the freeway to Big Basin, we saw this temple and decided to stop by for a viewing. See my photos.
