Small town with several antique stores, hiking, and some good food, all a short half-hour drive from Vegas: what’s not to love? Plan a whole weekend here: spend a day hiking, get your eat and drink on at Milo’s, then listen to some live music and brews at Jack’s Place. Stay at a local place, and wake up or the pork chili verde at Coffee Cup, browse the antique stores, grab a Dole Whip before heading to the park to see the Big Horn Sheep, and then grab a burger at Dillinger’s before you head back home! Locals are friendly, stores have diverse and kitschy products you won’t find elsewhere, and the food is actually pretty good– small town weekend fun, family-friendly or not. Totally up to you!

Boulder City is a special place because of its size and small community life. With a population of just over 15,000, it is the closest town in Southern Nevada that has a main street with businesses and parking that would remind many people of small towns in which they may have grown up. My enjoyment of Boulder City is with its public art. Nearly every corner along Nevada Way has some statue, either donated by the artists or for sale, and it makes for a pleasant walk of discovery. Many of the statues deal with the workers who built Hoover Dam and some are of the children who lived in Boulder City in that era. There are several good places to grab a bite to eat and it should be on your list of to see places when you visit Las Vegas(out of state people) or a place to spend part of a day for those of us who live in Las Vegas and have no downtown, community feel like you get in Boulder City.

Boulder City is a nice little escape from the bright lights of the big city. I come from a small town so I was very excited to learn of Boulder City. With it’s quaint little antique stores and delicious diners, it is the perfect place to spend a Saturday morning and afternoon. It is also home of Hoover Dam! Go check it out, walk around & buy some antiques!

Today we are exploring the great city of Boulder. They are having their annual spring jambore and there are art’s and crafts, old cars, and good food. This place gets busy fast, so come early in the morning to find close parking downtown, then get out and enjoy walking the historic streets. There are antiques, plenty of restaurants and friendly people. The tents set up on the lawn are full of wonderful homemade craft items, and the prices are good. There are events for the kids, dancing and music, and plenty of old cars on displace. Across the street from the old cars is an old fashion yard sale. This is a good place to hang out on a weekend even if there isn’t a festival.

I just love Boulder City. What a great place to come for the day and walk around looking at Antique shops and cute Boutiques. I love all the people with their dogs, motorcyles or bikes eating at the cute little restaurants. The parks are beautiful too with the grass being really green and thick, don’t see that a lot in the desert. We were so close to St. Judes and to Lake Mead Marina. I highly recommend getting out of the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas with a day trip to Boulder city for Breakfast or lunch, do a little shopping, head to Hoover Dam or to Lake Mead Marina to feed the fish, head back and check out St. Judes.

What a gem in the desert! We went there to try the World Famous Coffee Cup Café Nov 10th and quickly became a fan of the town after walking around the main drag and surrounding areas for about an hour. Beautifully maintained homes and streets. Quaint small-town atmosphere, friendly people. Being Mexican, one of the 1st things I noticed was that 99.8% of the people we saw, who were residents, were Caucasian. I could retire there but if the town goes into the shitter I know whose door they’ll be knocking on to blame for it… moi! I’m sure the heat of summer is a drag though :*( Anyway, if you’re in Vegas for more than a couple of days… get yourself out to Boulder City and enjoy the town. It is near Hoover Dam too. I’m glad I found another great ½ day trip when I travel to Vegas in addition to Valley of Fire, Red Rock and Lake Mead.

4th of July rocks here! I love the Bay Area, but nothing beats hanging out with family and seeing the fireworks in great weather and rarely does the crowd ever get to the size of the Embarcadero.
