I only came here once and it was for the night club later into the night. I wasn’t aware of the dress code being so strict, but I was able to get in anyways. It’s a classy place I suppose, everyone inside is dressed nice and the bartenders take good care of you in a timely manner. Drinks are crazy expensive though, but I guess it’s probably like that everywhere in Boston. Spilled drinks in the top floor can fall into the lower floors from the balcony and soak you, which I didn’t like. Other than that, I enjoyed myself and I would go again.

Came out NYE for dinner with my boyfriend, all I can say is the place is not worth the money. The bartender Mike wasn’t attentive at all and the food was bland. Considering there were two bartenders and nine people at the(not very large) bar, you’d believe service would be better. For a $ 20 jumbo lump crab cake appetizer you would think there would be jumbo lump crab meat in it, apparently they need to hire new cooks because the crabmeat was mashed to nothing and very stringy. The polenta was bland with dried out mushrooms thrown on top, no flavor, very unsatisfying. The two stars are for the décor and OK mixed drinks. I will probably never return to Umbria.

Came here for New Years, people were slipping and falling because there was so much ice and water on the floor. Even with«VIP» tickets we had to stand in line for a long while. And worst of all, they refused to let our friend with a disability use the elevator because«it is only for VIP ticket holders». End of the night she ended up falling down those stairs and hitting her head, and the bouncers threw us out instead of trying to understand she has trouble walking. Lots to be desired I would really hope we can get our refund for such a disappointing night.

This was almost a five star review. The night started out fantastic — we made same day reservations to redeem a Groupon. I found street parking right outside the restaurant. They seated us earlier than our reservation(the place wasn’t exactly packed on a Monday night). We got the single-page Groupon prix fixe menu and a wine list. Picked out a nice bottle of Pinot Noir and ordered our meals. The mushroom gorgonzola soup was delicious. The chicken ravioli in truffle cream sauce was amazing. The filet was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were not great, but they’re side dishes and I didn’t care. The waiter never came back to check on us to see if everything was cooked right, but in the moment, we didn’t care. The desserts were substandard. Bread pudding tasted ok but had a slightly offputting texture, and was clearly microwaved for just a little too long. The cannoli were inedible. I don’t know what kind of filling they used, but it had the consistency of paste, was not sweet, and jiggled ever so slightly when you pressed on it. I had never had a cannolo I didn’t like until last night. They’re pretty hard to mess up completely. Then the check came, and it included a $ 14 supplement charge for the steaks. I asked the waiter where the charge came from. He insisted it was on the menu. I asked to see the menu, he wouldn’t bring it to me. I told him that neither the menu or the Groupon OR he had mentioned anything about a supplemental charge when we were ordering. He insisted it had been listed, but took the charge off and brought a new bill back. Once I got my credit card slip back, he brought over the standard menu(not the one we had been given when seated) that said the fillets had a supplemental charge. I just said ok, signed the slip and we left. We both knew that he knew he brought over the wrong menu. Why waste your time trying to prove you’re right when we’re headed out the door? You were still wrong. Until the desserts and the bill, we had spent the meal talking about how we couldn’t wait to come back and try some of their other options. After that, I decided I would never go back. You don’t get to change the prices of your food after your guests have eaten it.

We went there for a family dinner the day after Christmas. Service was very good and it didn’t take long for the food to come out. My filet steak was cooked to perfection and was previously in a very good spice rub. Flavor was in the middle ad well on the outside of the stake. The atmosphere was a little dull but other than that I was very happy with my food and service. I definitely recommend this place

My wife and I went here a couple weeks back. The service was great, everyone was friendly, and the waiter was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was good; we ordered from a prix fixe menu, which had several great options and kept the check in check. Drinks were a little pricey(not for Boston, but in general). Decent location, a challenge finding parking if you’re driving into town, but an easy walk from the aquarium and similar locals.

Went just for appetizers and wine. GREATPIZZA, seriously crisp, chewey and charred crust, goey cheese and perfect eggplant and mushrooms. Delicious. Their baby octopi in putanesca sauce is CRAVEWORTHY! The staff and manager(owner? Stephan) were SOOOO welcoming and attentive. Serious wine list, but approachable with a perfect selection of good taste at a good price(a glass of B A R O LO for $ 16 — NOTBAD!). They serve«gynourmous» popovers with butter… SIGH! I still want one! Beautiful space, clean. I definitely would go back for a steak!

I have eaten here many times — ONLY because it’s close to the Hilton. Service is eh. Food is hit or miss. Solid three stars. Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed.

This was a great experience. Used a Groupon and was welcomed warmly. The salads, pasta course and entrees were all excellent. I really liked the Roasted Chicken Ravioli with Wild Mushrooms and Truffled Cream. The filet was tender and cooked exactly as requested. They offer a wonderful Malbec. Yury, our server was outstanding. Perfect service, polite and offered suggestions. Atmosphere wonderful… seems small, but that is so much better than the massive steak houses. Noticed promotion for $ 1 oysters at happy hour, and also a late night menu. We will return.

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out on Halloween this year. We got a groupon and it looked very good in the pictures. I’ll get right into it… the atmosphere is very sleek… waitress and greeter are extremely nice. Bread was ok, Caesar salad was exceptional; as was the chicken ravioli that I got as my 2nd course. The issue came with the main course; we both frequent the better steak restaurants in the city(Ruth Chris’s, Del Frisco’s, etc) and we tend to judge vs he best… this was far from the best. We both got filets… and to be honest we’ve had better filet at Texas Roadhouse… my girls potatoes taste like box potatoes… my spinach really had no extra taste either. This place seems to have everything top notch except for the most important part. We both had cannoli’ s and they were very good. Would’ve given it a higher rating but unfortunately the steak wasn’t up to par.

I’ve been here twice… once to see Mercer and the other time to see Tchami. I had a pretty good experience both times, but the openers they have are really good no matter who you go to see. Bug thumbs up for Bamboora he always puts it down. Drinks are overpriced as they are at every club in Boston, but hey what can you do. The sound system is pretty good and they have a medium sized dance floor that lets you get real close to the DJ, but there’s also an upstairs area with more room where you can stand and chill if you want. I wouldn’t say this is the best club in Boston, but they bring in some great artists. They call the club part Ascend or something now, but anyways if you’re looking for a good time and you want something a bit more intimiate than say Royale or Whiskey Saigon this is your spot.

Went with a groupon with my BF. Everything was amazing. Our waitress, CAROLINA, was friendly & attentive from the time we arrived till we left. 20% Gratuity was automatically added but we have her extra. The Soup of the day was a savory tomato soup. Both the tomato gnocchi & mushroom pasta were delicious. I had the filet mignon & my BF had the Alaskan salmon which were perfect. And we finished with bread pudding which was also good. We had a wonderful experience, would come back.

Came in early at 530pm for a work dinner. Our waitress was very nice but she was pretty slow, maybe she wanted us to drink more, so she purposely didn’t serve us our main course till 7pm. This is a nice fancy steakhouse with delicious food. There is even a 3 course dinner special for $ 47, where you get an appetizer, a main and desert. I chose the $ 47 dinner, and on top of that, we ordered extra appetizers and extra desert, so I was very stuffed. Let’s start off with the bread. They served us these huge popover breads that were nice and airy inside, so do not be daunted the size because its mostly air! For appetizers, I ordered a chopped salad which was just ok. It had lots of ice berg lettuce, and you know, ice berg lettuce is cheap. We also ordered the calamaris, which were delicious. They were lightly breaded, which I really liked. We also had prosciutto and cheese, which were both excellent. The wine selection is good, we went through many bottles. I am sure our waitress loved that because that meant a bigger tip for her. For my main course, I had an 8oz filet mignon which was delicious. It was absolutely tender, and juicy. They did a great job. For desert, I had cannolis. I don’t like canolis. We also had a mixed desert platter that the waitress suggested. In conclusion, the food is delicious, it does come at a price. Our waitress did a great job at suggesting food that was good for the group. And they know how to do filet mignons.

My boyfriend and I tried this place using a four course meal Groupon for $ 89. For that price, this place is so worth it! The outside is under construction which might have been one of the reasons it was kind of empty on a Friday night. However the interior was nice, it was quiet, and the service was great. We both got the filet mignon which was excellent. My boyfriend for the mushroom and chicken ravioli which was so much better than my pasta dish. They claim the upstairs becomes a nightclub on Fridays and Saturday’s but we were there until 9:30 and no one was showing up…

Really really really delicious! I went on a Monday night for Restaurant Week. I’m not sure if they were only open on a Monday for Restaurant Week. Unilocal suggests they are usually closed on Mondays. The portions were very generous for a deal package. They probably wouldn’t have filled a linebacker, but I took home half a filet and the entire dessert. I had Wellfleat Mussels, the 8 oz. Angus filet, carrot cake, and fresh rolls with what seemed like house-whipped butter. Yum! The server was very sweet and attentive. The service out of the kitchen was just a bit slow, but that was likely because it was Monday without an overload of patrons. I also know that higher end restaurants provide for the entire dining experience vs. rushing courses. I would also have loved access to salt and pepper, but I have a distinctive palate for seasoning. I also tend to dine alone on weeknight evenings to have a little time to myself to relax — thus expedited meal. I can’t say enough about the flavor of the aged Angus. The fact that it’s oven-finished produces a great light crust. Yum. I will definitely return. Restaurant Week presents a very economical way to try new places.

Dollar oysters are actually good oysters — that’s rare in Boston. Ask for Paul the bartender for strong drinks.

Good food. Terrible service. First, our server added a 20% gratuity for 2 people. He was also vastly insensitive, forward, rude, and unprofessional. I ordered wine, which he poured while I was in the restroom, never asking if it was ok. He additionally brought our check with the dessert as if to let us know it was time to go. This was not acceptable service for a fine dining experience. It may have only been our server, but it made for an experience that was not worth the money at all.

I’m so torn on how to rate my experience here. I came for restaurant week and my meal and service were horrendous. Our appetizers(2 oysters per person? I get its restaurant week so portions are small, but these were the same type of oysters I can get for $ 1 each at an oyster happy hour) arrived before our drinks had even been given. It took 3 tries of asking for a cocktail menu before one was provided, the waitress just kept bringing the wine list over and over. Almost everyone ordered the steak, and it ranged in size from mine being minuscule to a normal sized filet portion, I don’t understand the lack of consistency. My biggest issue with the entrees is at a steakhouse, the way your steak is cooked is pretty much the most important thing. We ordered 2 medium well, 3 medium rare, they brought 3 medium well and the 2 medium rares were definitely much more on the medium side. We tried to inform the server and she just said that’s not what you ordered and walked away. While we were eating our dessert she actually removed several of my table mates cocktails when they were still only half finished, you don’t pay $ 15 for a drink to only get to drink half… but she was gone before we could ever say something. Overall a horrific service experience, which we when then automatically charged 20% gratuity on. My hesitation with leaving only 1 star is we asked to speak to the manager, not to get our meal for free but just to ask that we be given the opportunity to tip on our own, I refused to give a waitress over a $ 50 tip for what may have been the worst service I had ever gotten. But the manager was amazing, he agreed to removed the automatic tip but once he found out about the ill prepared steaks he was so apologetic and wanted to do everything possible to make our experience better. It was definitely the most positive management experience I have had at a restaurant in Boston. I would give him 5 stars for service. However, I have to stick to my 1 star review here for the food, the wait staff, and the fact I got food poisoning when I got home.

Thanks Guys, came in just before closing and had a SUPERB bone in steak with marrow. Sides and the drinks were terrific. The Italian seasoning was spot on as was the butter into the marrow… been in Asia too much lately and wished for green onions with it all(you know if you go to Japan and S Korea a lot) Needed this after a long day and had a terrific time at the table watching a good movie on the tablet. Great place even if right across from the hotel spur of the moment.

My aunt made a reservation for us for the evening before my brother’s graduation from college. We all met at the Intercontinental Boston Harbor, and walked over to Umbria Prime for dinner. It was a pretty fancy place, with lots of to like about the space. It definitely had an old steakhousy feel. The place is huge as well. They have multiple floors, with plenty of space to house large parties and still not have it feel crowded. They have a really nice raw bar selection of oysters, so we ordered a few to share. I hadnt been ordering steak much when Ive been going out, so I decided to order a nice New York strip that was served with bone marrow. The oysters came with horseradish, blood orange mignonette and cocktail sauce. They were all deliciously fresh and not the least bit gritty. They were clean and light, a nice start to the meal. My steak was perfectly cooked. It had a fantastic sear on it and the inside was hot pink medium. It was far too large for me to finish all by myself, but it was mondo tasty. I had the pleasure of also tasting my fiances lamb shank and my brothers seared tuna and both were very good. The lamb was super tender and almost didn’t need a knife. The tuna was a large portion and had a really great sesame crust on it. Unfortunately the dessert didnt live up to the rest of the meal. The bread pudding we ordered was ok, but it wasn’t my favorite. I prefer more rustic bread pudding with chunks of bread in it, but this was all one cake. The vanilla ice cream definitely wast enough to go with it either. It needed to be bigger. Overall I thought it was a pretty good meal. Definitely worth a visit, but the price point is pretty high. I know boston is expensive, but it’s pretty pricey regardless.
