Came here after work and was pleasantly surprised. I had the bar pizza which was excellent and the rodeo burger. Food was overall very good. Bartender Kevin was nice and very attentive. $ 4 drafts also. Can’t wait to go back.

I have been to The Crossing 2 times. The first time I went was on a Wednesday for trivia which was scheduled to start at 8:30. After about an hour wait the waitress finally decided to tell us that trivia was no longer happening that night. Not necessarily their fault, but it would’ve been polite to let everyone know that it wasn’t happening instead of making them wait around for an hour. The second time I went was on an afternoon for their«Appy Hour» a 3pm-6pm weekday event with half priced appetizers. «Great!» I thought, I’ve been looking for a place in my area where I can grab some cheap eats and a drink after work! Don’t be fooled by this. Yes, the appetizers are half price, but it is half the food. I’m not a rocket scientist, but half the food for half the price sounds an awful lot like full price. I thought the whole point of these food specials was so people would spend more money on drinks since they were getting less expensive food. Just go to one of the other bars by Brigham Circle, they all have better food, beer, and logical pricing. I wish I liked this place more, but I really can’t look past these things. The 2nd star is because they have $ 8 pitchers of Rolling Rock, otherwise it would be a 1 star no doubt

This place is great a cultivating relationships. Staff is friendly and welcoming and there is always good service. Great food for a reasonable price. I go every Monday and the sport trivia and wings are amazing. I’ve really enjoyed investing money in this bar and I hope future patrons see the same things I do.

Five stars because the only change to this place in 30 years has been the addition of a ladies room. That, and I doubt that closing time(which was midnight) is announced by hanging iron grates over the front windows. Yes, I’m not reviewing The Crossing, I’m reviewing my memories of McCarthy’s, but a reverence for history is a defining trait of Boston, isn’t it? I do miss the 75 cent Tuborg drafts and the 85 cent large whiskey. Trivia question when I was in college: Q: what whiskey do they serve at McCarthy’s? A: Large whiskey. OK I’m old. Sue me. Or give me a tenure track appointment to Northeastern University(which I no longer recognize) as «Professor of Boston Bar History»

Very friendly neighborhood bar. Seems like a lot of locals and students come here. Lot’s of TVs with various sports on, but mostly people were talking amongst themselves. We visited and had dinner on a freezing cold Monday night. They have some tables in addition to the bar. The food sounds like standard bar food, but everything we got had a little extra flair. We started with nachos which had a nice, spicy salsa and multicolor chips. I had the Mediterranean Salad, that came with grilled chicken and some hummus and pita on the side. Nice presentation and excellent quality. My kids had burgers that were very juicy. Fries good but not outstanding. My wife had the pastrami sandwich. She is a pastrami snob, so I was afraid she wouldn’t like it, but she said it was quite good, if a bit small. Their beer selection is very good, plus they have some very cheap deals(e.g. 32 oz «personal pitcher» of Miller Light for $ 4.) I had Sam Adams Rebel IPA. They served it at almost room temp(as they would at an English pub.) It actually enhanced the flavor, so bonus points for making my beer taste even better. My wife had the blood orange cosmo. We both agreed that it was excellent. The service was fast and friendly. I would definitely go back and hope to soon.

Wing night is a staple here as there’s are the best wings for the best value with sports trivia! you can’t go wrong! The drinks are cheap, especially the beer bucket, and the nachos and buffalo chicken are also great options for college students!

I’m only giving one star because zero isn’t an option. My recommendation is to bring your hard earned money elsewhere. A bouncer approached me to verify my age and he takes a half look at my license and runs away with it to the bar. I follow. The security then argued with me arrogantly for 10 minutes about my MA driver’s license being«a fake.» He laughed and said«this is so fake, where did you get this?» Well I’ll tell you all; I got my «fake» at the RMV and there’s nothing fake about it. MA driver’s licenses are covered in special holographs and markings so I don’t know how you can screw that up. That guy was rude. The bar tender then compared his identical license to mine only his was broken in half and taped back together. My girlfriend came over and asked what the problem was and the punk starts sassing her, taunting us to «write a bad review online.» There was also not a bar-code scanner to authenticate it. There was no manager. They referred me to the bar across the street who gave me no problems. Way to lose CUSTOMERS to your most immediate competitor! We all had a great time at the place across the street, and we won’t be coming back to «The Crossing».

I just had the best experience at the Crossing! The service was amazing– we were given free drinks because we had to wait a little bit, and got incredibly cheap pizzas. An awesome place to get some cheap pitchers and apps with a couple friends.

The Crossing is a below average pub in a city with a multitude of pub options. The nachos are terrible — unlayered, with ingredients that seem like they were borrowed from the nearby Subway. The bartender is unattentive, and when I’ve ordered cocktails from here, they’ve tasted a bit watered down. The various sandwiches and burgers here are merely okay. Unless you are desperate to catch a sports game and are unable to venture to a proper sport bar, I can’t say that there is a good reason to come here.

The Crossing is one of our favorite lunch spots when we’re back in the Wentworth neighborhood(my husbands alma-mater) The food is always tasty, they always put a creative spin on everyday dishes. We love the Crossing calamari, it’s way better than the normal fried calamari with marinara, the Crossing calamari is golden and crispy then smothered in spicy Thai chili sauce, we devour the humongous serving just us two! The salads are always fresh and loaded up, not what you usually see at a bar, burgers are juicy and beers are ice cold, and did I mention how much food you get for the price?! We always look forward on going back

I’m surprised at the way higher ratings people have given it cuz my meal was pretty bad. Friend and I both got a blue cheese burger verifying that it was blue cheese on the burger and not blue cheese salad dressing. It said 8 oz burger but you could make it 12oz if you want which is easy for them because they serve you two overdone 4 oz patties rather than a nicely grilled 8 oz burger. Friend ordered med rare and I ordered medium but both were totally well done and previously frozen(I assume), they also had almost a meatloaf taste to them. The roll was quite chilly(altho not bad), came with a lot of onion rings but not the thin crisp batter style. We were the only 2 eating there yet no one checked on us(or the piles of food we left behind) and it took a while to get a check. Prices are indeed great made better by a ½ price coupon but as someone else said, with Flan’s, The Mission and Penguin(and now Soulfilre!) right there, doubt I’ll go back.

Breakfast is good, the price is reasonable. Went there with a friend. If you want a cheap breakfast, this is the place to go on weekends.

Pretty good experience here — the chicken fajita wrap was surprisingly good for bar food(think 4+ stars good) and the prices were quite reasonable as well. But the service was slow, especially for a Tuesday night with no one else in the place except for our group of four. And although you expect things to be a little on the sticky side in that type of atmosphere, The Crossing was almost uncomfortably sticky — the tabletop, the menus all were a little gross to the touch. However, I’m willing to overlook that based on how solid my wrap was. I’d definitely go again just for that, but I’ll be prepared for a little barroom stickiness this time around.

You know the weird thing about Boston? There are no real sports bars. Seriously, bear with me here. Because every place – even nice restaurants – has a TV tuned to the Sox/Pats/Celts/Bruins at all times, there aren’t as many places you can go to watch a million games at once as there are in other cities. The Crossing will tune to the Texans game for me, which is very important.(Shut up, we’re gonna actually do it this year!) Their drinks are relatively cheap and relatively strong and service is extremely friendly. They even helped us root for Rice football one Saturday afternoon(a losing proposition if ever there was one, trust me.) I’m sure it gets crazy busy, but all the times I’ve been in it hasn’t been too loud – enough for fun, not enough for headache. The potato skins are really good. The burger was too greasy for me, but hey, it’s a personal choice. Next time I’ll just get two orders of potato skins.

The Crossing does have a divey feeling. Yes they have brunch, yes they have a menu with food, but the food is just«ok». The burgers you can tell are just frozen patties and all the fried food I’d predict is also just frozen as well. The beer is cheap. I’d put them second in the cheapest places to drink in Mission Hill. The bartenders are well above average even though the best of the bunch is no longer working there. I go back and I like to drink, but I also live near bye and use several options. I guess you just need to go in and check it out for yourself. Yes they have Big Buck hunter. It is safari mode

Mild wings, cheap pitchers of watery beer, a menu stretched so thin you can see through it and an accessibly jejune décor… Not bad, not great but my goodness gracious there are much better choices just a few yards up the street. But… if you think Bud on tap is the hallmark of quality and you’re looking for a night out in Mission Hill for the low low price of 10 $ a head then the Crossing is your scene of choice.

When I found out that my office was closing on Wednesday due to the snow and ice, I took the opportunity to check out The Crossing and I’m glad I did. 3.5 stars rounded up. Laid back, divey kind of place. The bartender, Mike, was real friendly and mixed up some strong ass rum and cokes. They had the Bruins game going on one flat screen, the C’s game on another, and like Biggest Loser on the last one — point being that it would be a good spot to catch a game. Tried a cheese quesadilla and the turkey club sub(special) and both were fine, especially for how cheap they were. 8 drinks between me and the wifey, plus the grub, came to $ 68 before tax and tip. The best part — at around 9PM, Mike broke out a cornhole box and bags and we got to play right in the tiny bar. A lot of fun, especially since half the teams had never played before(a big shout out to all my midwestern friends that introduced me to the wonders of cornhole years ago!) Talking to Mike, apparently Wednesdays are trivia night, Thursdays are karaōke night(though he said that the KJ had taken a long break since Christmas and wasn’t sure when it was starting back up again) and Fridays are live music. Also noteworthy, $ 8 pitchers of Bud Light(the website says Rolling Rock but they didn’t have RR when I was there). Last thing I want to mention is, yes, it’s full of NEU students getting drunk and crazy. 1⁄3 of them in hoodies or fleece sweatshirts, 1⁄3 of them in rugby-esque long sleeve polos, and the last 1⁄3 in layered long sleeve t’s under short sleeve t’s. And 90% of the crowd on a snowy Tuesday night was dudes.

Where else can you ask for a White Russian and have them fill you up with the rest of their Kahlua later on when you’re halfway done with your drink? Yeah that’s right — the Crossing thankyouverymuch. I stopped by here about a year ago with some friends and it was pretty much empty except for a firefighter who had just moved into town. Apparently the old owner ended up selling the place and it appears to be in good hands. I mean, with both License to Ill & Ill Communication on the jukebox, you can’t go wrong! And Lady Gaga too if you’re into her. Come here when you’re in the Brigham Circle area, or, ya know, just around, and you’ll be happily satisfied.

This has offically has become«my» bar. After my little fiasco with The Stork Club, I came here. I mean were else in Boston can you get a pitcher and 2 shots for around $ 20? Rum and coke with a beer $ 10? I’m there! There’s no «I’m better than you» attitude here and almost feels like home to me. Buisness men, Seniors, Mission Hill residents and College Kids all mingle here like the melting pot that Mission Hill is, and I love it. The music is such a mix of everything that it feels like I’m listening to my iTunes. The service is great, but then again I like it when people remember me because it makes me feel like they WANT my buisness, hell even asking for it! Only 4 Star? After all the drinking, I’d actually like something to munch on and they don’t sell any food :-(or have pretzels or popcorn.
