If you are any sort of chocolate fan, you must have their hot cocoa. You will taste the pure chocolate in your drink, to include chocolate shavings, and cannot drink a simple hot cocoa afterwards. You get to pick your chocolate(milk v dark), your milk(whole, almond, etc), any flavors(raspberry, eggnog, vanilla, or others available), and whether you’d like to add a marshmallow from the lady next door(I recommend adding it and buying some from the Lydia sweetshop itself) or some whip cream, for an extra buck. While the price is high(up to $ 6), I think it’s worth it for the experience. You’re in Boston, at a chocolate shop, and it’s cold out. When is the next time you’ll be there(if you’re not a native or a frequent visitor). I’d do it all over. Plus it satisfies all your chocolate cravings. This is not for your average hot chocolate drinker; it’s for chocolate fans only.

Found myself in BPM — grabbed a dark chocolate, almond milk, no accouterments. Slightly bland, but that could be accounted for by the almond milk sub rather than the standard(whole milk). I did, however, appreciate the fact it was lighter on the sugar — the cacao flavor certainly pulled through.

Oh my goodness! So good. Definitely the best vegan hot chocolate I’ve ever had, which isn’t surprising– it’s essentially just melted chocolate. I had mine with vanilla. The gritty texture might throw someone off, but I enjoy that about all of Taza’s Mexican ground chocolate. Can you tell I’m a proud Cambervillan happy to see this business expanding? In short, the perfect cold weather treat.

If you like chocolate, you have to check this place out. The first chocolate bar envisioned by the founder of Taza, this place does not disappoint. You have a choice of getting a drink hot or cold. I opted for cold on the hot summer day I went in. The barista was very friendly and had no problem taking the time to explain the different options to me as it was my first time at a chocolate bar. I choose an off the menu drink. Unsweetened pure chocolate liquor in an iced form for $ 5. It was phenomenal. The texture of the chunks of the carob pod added a texture, that might offend some, but was a nice texture imho I will definitely be back when I’m craving a chocolate drink in an unadulterated form. Thanks Taza!

I was very excited to hear that Taza was opening a location at the Boston Public Market. I went to check out the market on opening day hoping to pick up some of Taza’s yummy stone ground chocolate bars but they weren’t quite ready yet. Which was fine, I knew I could find their goods elsewhere in my hood. Well, I was in that area again today so I thought I’d scope it out again and was happy to find they were up and running. They had some items I hadn’t seen before such as gift packs and cans of chocolate covered nuts and nibs. Had to get! So I tried to figure out where to pay for my stuff but the two people working behind the counter were busy preparing elaborate specialty drinks for other customers. I finally asked some other customers who also looked to be waiting to be served, and they were, so I waited behind them. The wait was a lot longer than expected, but that was understandable, I think I heard someone say it was their first day open, so maybe they don’t have their system down yet. I just hope in the future that customers who are not waiting for fancy drinks can just make their dry good purchases without having to wait for every other customer’s drinks to be ready. The only real thing that bummed me out was that I saw whole milk and whipped cream on their drink menu. I thought Taza was all vegan. I guess not.
