I really like the Tatte Bakeries in Kendall Square and Brookline, so I decided to give the Beacon Hill location a try today. It’s in a great area on Charles Street and is very charming. I was very pleasantly surprised by the ample outdoor seating, and there is a decent amount of seating inside as well. However, the service could have been better. The line to was very slow, as there was only one register open. Two of the people working there were very nice, while a few of the others were condescending and brusque. The wifi was also very poor — I had brought my laptop with the intention of doing some work but was unable to log on. I will probably be going to the other locations to satisfy my Tatte cravings from now on.

Absolutely love Tatte! Every item on the menu is better than the last. Coffee and pastries are beautifully made, and taste even more delicious. Only point of complaint is it gets so crowded! But that demand is a product of one of the best café/bakeries in town :)

Stumbled upon this bakery but was very, very happy. The extensive selection of pastries was all it took to lure me into the store. The nut tart we got had a wide range of nuts on it — all quite fresh — and just enough glaze to give the tart a sweet flavour. The crust of the tart was buttery and perfectly crispy without being overly crumbly or greasy. This was the first pastry I had in North America after spending four months in Europe and I was not disappointed. I feel fairly confident that I’d be able to say the same about other pastries here. Service was great, efficient, and the ambiance was lovely as well. Lots of people there to just chat and hang out but also a solid crew of people who were there to do work. I would definitely come back — both to socialize and to do work! Next up — looking forward to trying the sandwiches.

Food is very good, service has improved, but the place is filthy. The light fixtures hanging over the food items are SO dusty. I’m afraid that someone will sneeze and the dust will go everywhere. Ick! This place really needs a good cleaning… wish I could add a picture.

I very rarely go back to a restaurant twice when traveling out of town. However this one deserves two, maybe three days of breakfast pastries. Favorite so far probably the ham and smoked Gouda croissant. Delicious!

I’ve visited a few Tatte locations and I feel like the Beacon Hill location is just not as good as the others. I’ve gotten sandwiches from this location that are very small and made with stale bread. Versus the same sandwiches from the Third Street location in Cambridge that are delicious, made with fresh bread and are significantly bigger. Coffee also tastes bitter and burnt — although I can’t say if it’s just at this location or across all locations as I’ve only had it in the Beacon Hill shop. One of my other main peeves is the staff — granted this place gets a lot of visitors on the weekends, I feel as though some of the staff have a difficult time managing the lines and at times appear visibly distraught. When I pass by and see the long lines in the morning, I just get discouraged and go to Peets across the street instead. I’ve also seen the kitchen staff switch off between cleaning and preparing food without washing their hands or changing gloves. In fact, I remember one time I’d ordered a sandwich around closing time — the kitchen staff was wearing one glove and the other hand bare. He was cleaning something out of a bucket. When he got my order, he started making the sandwich with the same glove and bare hand. He then switched back to cleaning while my sandwich was on the panini press. I lost my appetite after seeing that. Hygiene doesn’t seem to be a strong suit at this location.

The bakery is delicious and the savory food is ok. I love Tatte’s other location in Brookline but here the waits are impossibly long, the staff is not making any contact or plain rude, and no matter what requests you put with your order they would be ignored. The coffee is overburnt and lacks flavor. If you want to enjoy it, grab your pastry(a lot of their items are awesome!) and leave.

Tatte(pronounced Tah-tay) is nestled into the perfect spot on Beacon Hill, offering high ceilings and simple shabby-chic décor as well as quite a bit of outdoor seating– perfect if you have your pup with you. Honestly, everything here is delicious and unique, with many items boasting an Israeli flair. The food is great, but I really come to Tatte for the baked goods. You may not be able to avoid a line, but if you have certain pastries in mind, you can call ahead for them. Some of my favorite menu items: Halva Rose, Morning Bun, Flourless Brownie, Nut Boxes(especially pistachio), Fattoush Salad, Breakfast Sandwich, and beet and short rib grilled cheese!

I got the hummus trio and a chocolate morning bun, as well as a almond tart to bring with me back to San Francisco for a brunch party. The place was bustling on a weekend morning. My mom had been talking about this place forever, and I understand why. The look and feel of the bakery was trendy, yet inviting. The presentation of the baked goods(even down to the retro lighting) makes everything look amazing. The clientele was a mix of young, fashionable people sipping on lattes and working on their laptops, and small groups catching up over pastries. It was a challenge finding a seat, but the line itself and the wait for food wasn’t terrible. I had a hard time deciding what to get, because I wanted something basic and savory that wasn’t too heavy. The hummus trio was a perfect in-between meal as a shopping pick-me-up. The flavors were creative, and they provided a good ratio of pita to hummus. The chocolate morning bun was decent(but I wouldn’t get it again). The tart, while probably more expensive than I’d like to pay, traveled quite nicely with me on a flight back to San Francisco for a New Years brunch, and was a party hit. Not only did it taste great, the packaging was well thought out in a hipstery, understated way. I would definitely recommend buying a tart here for a party, it’s a really easy and beautiful gift for any host. I can see why my mom loves this place, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

Tatte is good. Sandwiches, salad, basic café deal, maybe a little better but you’re in a giant city, there’s a zillion good cafes. The only difference if you’re going to have to wait ten minutes on a line, then 25 minutes for your grilled cheese. Seriously, I waited a half hour for a grilled cheese that you know they already have prepared and just throw on a panini press. And then after you get said food you’ll have nowhere to eat it unless you feel like punching out a mother and small child for a table. Also, they don’t give you silverware with your salad, i can’t tell you how many people I saw leave and have to come back to ask for a fork. I got the short rib grilled cheese with the beet horseradish spread. It was pretty good but not at all worth the hassle. Either go on a random off time or find another adorable less crowded café.

This place is a victim of its own success I think. Yes the counter display looks delicious but the lines & the constant jostling are a nightmare. The coffee is below average. The ciabatta is more style than substance, with far too many things stacked up to eat comfortably. And if the lady serving food screeches a customer name once more I’m gonna lose my mind! She quite honestly ruins the whole atmosphere. I came in for a nice break from walking around only to feel like I had to rush through & get out.

Despite the long weekend lines and overpriced baked good, I can’t help but be a big fan of Tatte. It’s a beautiful space with piled high pastries — what’s not to love. Although, the savory foods are just as good as the sweets. My favorites include: Shakshuka, Avocado tartine, and the Green n Nutty salad. The breakfast muesli was surprisingly bright and delicious. And don’t leave without a pistachio something. I recommend the nut box!

Third time is a charm and I was prepared to be blown away by Tatte! After a long evening of disappointments and an early morning of bad caffeine I had hopes that Boston would be redeemed! This space is lovely with a rustic French inspired décor. The various pastries and dishes looked delicious and I was definitely going to rave about this one I thought to myself. Latte and a maple pecan tart is all I could stomach at that moment so I went for it. Again, I was presented with a scalded cup of joe. My latte was like a giant cup of boiling coffee flavoured milk. Instant burn as soon as I took my first sip. Yet again, my cup had more foam than a bubble bath. The pecan tart was delicate, light and airy. The cookie dough was crumbly but unfortunately it lacked in butteriness. I saw a lot of leftover food as I glanced over at the self serve trays where used dishes go and it’s definitely not a good sight to see. Overall, the drinks and pastry certainly does not live up to their appearance.

Walking into Tatte Bakery feels like walking into all of my dreams about pastries. It’s such a beautiful space: clean, open, organized. The coffee is wonderful, and I have not had a single pastry I have not liked. When they are in stock, the Turkey sandwich is AMAZING. The fig mustard is so great! My favorite lunch place in Boston!

It’s a pretty rare event when I walk into a café, and immediately want to eat everything on the menu, despite stuffing my face the night before, which is exactly what happened. Tatte has a few locations, and we went to the one on Charles, as it was closer. The lines get pretty long, and the tables are usually more crowded than not, so do keep that in mind when you go. 4.5 stars, but bumped to a 5 because of the service. We were slightly late to get breakfast and word apologetically told that the menu had already switched to lunch, and my face fell about ten degrees short of extremely dejected. However, to my immense joy, the the chefs kindly accommodated us as the last breakfast order. So I did get to eat my anticipated Shakshouka, and if you do go, make sure to get that item, because it’s the perfect remedy for a chilly day in Boston. Eggs are poached in a spicy tomato sauce with crumbled feta, served with their house-made sourdough. We went up to the counter a second time for pastries. The poppy seed Hamantaschen were just right, and so were the cream cheese croissant and lemon mint tart. I also tried halva, a Middle Eastern dessert, for the first time. It. Was. Addicting. The base was brownie-esque, and the halva(I think it was sesame-based, as it was nutty) was swirled in at the top. I only wish I could taste more of the halva, because now I will be searching to see if Baltimore offers any.

Nice waiters and food was really fast! The avocado toast was good. The cappuccino was also good. I usually drop by to grab the pecan tart– my all time favorite! Nothing to complain.

On a clear, crisp Friday morning, I finally got to try Tatte Bakery & Café. I had wanted to try Tatte since moving to Boston in August. I got up early and took the Red Line to MGH before class and couldn’t wait to give Tatte a try! I got there a little after they opened — smart move because I’d heard it gets really crowded. But on a Friday morning, the place was quiet with a handful of customers. I was warmly greeted by the staff and placed my order: Avocado Tartine, cup of coffee, and one of the infamous nut boxes(pistachio to be exact). I made myself comfortable at a counter by the window and sipped my hot coffee while I waited for my breakfast. The décor and vibe at Tatte is quaint and comfortable. My breakfast came out and looked beautiful! The Avocado Tartine was delicious — two thick pieces of fresh sourdough bread with tasty avocado and a perfectly over-easy egg on top. Yum!!! The coffee was hot and fresh — quality beans roasted to perfection. And the pistachio nut box … Heaven. Perfect balance between sweet and salty, and the crust was the perfect crispness. Tatte, you are a wonderful gem nestled in Beacon Hill and I cannot wait to come back!

The latte was par for the course. The anxiety that came over me while waiting in line but watching every free table get snatched up was overwhelming on a Saturday morning — albeit expected. The muesli bowl — heaven. The Greek yogurt is so creamy/mild and everything else from the granola to the tiny slivers of Granny Smith Apple just makes is delightful bill of goodness so full of flavor & texture at the same time. This is coming from the lady who reluctantly ever orders anything breakfast without an egg involved. Consider me converted. Yes, this review is based solely of my new obsession for the muesli bowl. Need to get back ASAP.

Small quaint place, good sandwiches and salads! I LOVED the avocado tartine! And the sweets are just alright. The second time I visited. The sweets were pretty hard(but apparently they were fresh out of the oven?) hmmmm.

This place is pricey but yummy and fancy desserts! I was looking for something to bring home from Boston and tatte came up as one of buzz feeds list of «bakeries you must try before you die.» They are known for their nut boxes but the cashier told me she preferred the Belgian chocolate tart. It was $ 30 for the tart and they wrapped it up in a nice box with a ribbon. They also gave me some chocolate ganache to drizzle on when I served it. Pricey but fancy! We tried out the tart today and it was amazing! Super rich and yummy with layers of different chocolate flavors. The pistachio croissant was also yummy! I had the white chocolate hot cocoa and it was a little different tasted like sweet hot milk. This is a cool café for locals and nice place for tourist like me to bring something nice back for friends.

Cute local bakery and café! We stayed in Beacon Hill and this place was a couple of minutes walk from where we were staying. I love coffee shops like this. Lots of selections of baked goods and coffee is Stumptown. I tried the almond croissant it was delish just the way I like it and it was Huge but loved my almond latte even more. The lines can be long especially in the morning but we were in no rush, we were on vacation. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich I had several bites and the bread was fantastic. We also tried several other pastries on other visits. The café itself is cute, free wifi password on the counter, but it can get busy minimal seating but also seating outside on a nice day.

I’ve been wanting to come here for the longest time and finally swung by the Beacon Hill location after a morning 5K by the commons. I would suggest not coming here on a Sunday at brunch time because this place was packed. The line took awhile. So make sure you have some time to wait. There’s also outdoor seating too! Place is adorable. Food. Let me start off and say the croissants are HUGE and they are so worth it. Scrumptious and perfectly flaky. My roommate and I split the almond croissant and the muesli. Almond croissant has a sweet almond filling in it… And it’s so yum! And did I mention that it’s like massive? The muesli was a perfect post run bowl of goodness. Yogurt, granola, blackberries, raspberries, and sliced Apple. Very filling. My friends tried various other sandwiches and salads. Would definitely come back here and try to shakshuka and everything on the menu. Pastries are right in front of you so it’s hard to say no to getting one. Overall, great café! Staff are nice. Be patient since they have a lot of customers so the wait will be longer, but it’ll be well worth the wait. Go enjoy!

First of all, a pronunciation lesson… «Tatte» sounds like«Latte.» So now you can actually say which café you are going to without feeling insecure! Also, a fun fact you can share, one of the employees told us that the owner moved to the states from Israel just to bake here, and named her café after her grandma(tatte means grandma in Hebrew). Who knew? This was my first visit to the Charles Street location and it was so nice! I love the interior design of these cafes, European-shabby-chic is the best I can think to describe it. We spent our time outside, though, as it was a beautiful spring day and Tatte has a nice patio area right on Charles Street. My husband had an amazing mint lemonade — not too sweet, and I had a delicious Stumptown iced coffee. We shared a huge almond croissant that was artfully crafted and so yummy. A bit more expensive than nearby places, but definitely worth it for the environment and quality. A must-visit!

Found my new favorite place! Ok, so I’ve only tried two dishes. But they were the BEST two dishes! First visit I walked away with the sweet potato/caramelized onion/feta tart tatin. It was a giant slice of savory(with a dash of sweet) heaven atop a delightful side salad spiced up with radishes and an olive oil dressing. And a fist sized bread roll. Sourdough I think? Doesn’t matter, it was a clear indication that any bread or bread-related item from Tatte would be excellent. Enter my next visit. The Balakani(eggplant, feta, pesto) served on brioche instead of the standard ciabatta(I wanted the sunflower wheat sourdough but they were all out, sad face). So damn good! Funny thing is, I generally don’t like brioche. But I saw it sitting in the display case and it looked so puffy and flaky and buttery that when the friendly cashier offered it, there was no turning it down. And I’m glad I didn’t! Best brioche I’ve tried. The sandwich was a tad salty — probably the feta or maybe the pesto — but not so much so that it took away from the flavor. I would easily order it again(like, tomorrow), but there are so many other dishes to try first. Love this new addition to the neighborhood! The cakes and pies look otherworldly. That Belgian chocolate mousse cake? Yes please! Halva bomb cake? Don’t mind if I do! I definitely want to try the meringues and the cream cheese croissant, too. So much to try, so little room in my belly! Oh, and did I mention they have Saturday and Sunday brunch? That too. Gosh I just love you, Tatte!
