Two bartenders sampled my cocktail as it was being made, right in front of me, before they gave it to me. They then proceeded to sample the other cocktails of other patrons as they were being made. A classy looking place with low class bartenders. I left before ordering food. Who knows what they would have done with a meal.

the tuna burger tastes great! The dressing on the salad is a bit too much– the leaves were drenched. Fries were warm and crispy, and well seasoned. The candied carrot pizza is well balanced in the flavors — it’s almost like a dessert pizza! Our table shared it and we all loved it. The service was very attentive as it wasn’t very busy during lunch time. We will def come back here!

I live in the neighborhood, and ate here for the first time with a group of friends a few days ago. The service was superb, the food delicious, from the fresh salad to entrée and dessert. Just the right balance of familiar and innovative. Nice wines too. Lovely, comfortable décor. I will certainly be back!

I had dinner with a group of friends at this new restaurant and there wasn’t one complaint on any level. We were so comfortable in the new décor, delighted by the well-trained, courteous waitstaff, and marveled over the food in each of the courses served. I would highly recommend it to everyone. It’s wonderful to have a new American-food restaurant in this Waterfront neighborhood that isn’t either an Irish Pub or strictly Italian. We have so many of those to choose from already.

Let’s call this 3.5 stars for a new place that I have high hopes will rise in my estimation on subsequent visits. This past Saturday, my husband and I met two friends here for brunch. State Street Provisions just opened in December replacing City Landing which was fairly short-lived and before that Sel de la Terre, a restaurant I still miss. We were a bit early so we decided to sit at the bar to await our friends’ arrival. There were two very friendly hostesses who greeted us warmly as we came in. We each ordered a bloody Mary. They came in mason jars which although cliché now is still fine by me as I do love drinking out of them. This particular bloody Mary had a smoky taste to it that was good but I could do without it. I didn’t ask but it seemed like perhaps chipoltle pepper had been added. Once our friends arrived we were escorted to a 4-top. I was glad to get a table in the center of the room versus one of the banquettes. I’m not a fan of banquette seating as there is always someone who has their back to the room and I think when dining out most people want to get a gander of what is going on around them. At least I do. The remake of this restaurant is quite lovely. Dark wood floors, warm tones and wonderful lighting fixtures made the space seem cozy and inviting on what was a very gray day with snow expected. We were greeted by perhaps the nicest, most understated but competent and knowledgeable waiter ever. If you go, ask for Logan. He was great. One of our friends was unsure what drink to order and Logan was very helpful in describing the various beverages on the brunch menu. I am not necessarily the biggest fan of typical brunch menus but I liked this one as it gave you breakfasty-brunchy items from which to choose along with more usual lunch fare. It was nice to be offered both still and sparkling water… with no charge for the sparkling. Our table chose both. And after other assorted beverages were ordered, we started with the salumi board. We were able to choose 3 of the 6 meat choices offered. It came with pickles, marinated olives and grilled bread. While good, overall this was a disappointment. The serving board arrived looking naked and paltry. At $ 18.00 for a serving for 3 or $ 32 dollars for a serving for 6 this was just ridiculously priced for what you end up with. The sausage while tasty was micro-sliced. And sliced so very paper thin, the slices stuck together which made for taking one’s niggling share a problem. The marinated olives included perhaps 4 of them in a teeny ramekin. I don’t recall the pickles and the slices of bread were equally tiny. It’s a pass. A salumi board should be something more robust and less dainty and ridiculous. For our mains, one friend and I ordered the crispy eggs Benedict with Irish black bacon, hollandaise and home fries. While overall, this was a very good and tasty dish, the eggs for some might have been overcooked. I prefer my eggs less runny but even for me they were a tad overcooked. The Irish bacon was delicious. The home fries were far too plentiful and dominated the plate. A better idea would be to have a smaller portion of home fries servied with a small salad along side. With all the richness of the eggs and bacon, a nice salad would be the perfect accompaniment. Our other friend ordered the seared tuna sandwich which was a lovely looking dish that she very much enjoyed. It looked perfectly seared with a pretty pink center. She had half fries and half Caesar salad on the side. My husband ordered the house-cured ham and cheese sandwich which was also lovely to behold and like the seared tuna, was a large portion. Both my husband and my tuna eating friend had half their sandwiches left to take home. My husband enjoyed his sandwich very much and had it served with a side of french fries which he said were cooked perfectly. The downside for this restaurant is that while it is conveniently located near the MBTA, they have no arrangements for validated parking with any of the garages nearby. So if you have to drive in, as we did, you can certainly park in one of these garages but be prepared to pay what amounts to $ 20.00 an hour. There is street parking however there is a two hour maximum at these coveted spots and you are not meant to add money to the meter when your time is up but rather will have to move your car or face getting a ticket. We went beyond our 2 hours and my husband had to get up and go move the car. Fortunately, as snow was expected later that day, there were many spots available as fewer folks were out and about. However on a more typical day, spots will be scarce. Overall, we enjoyed our brunch here. The food does need a few tweaks and validated parking would be a plus. Nevertheless things were promising enough that we’ll be back. We are willing to be forgiving while they work out some details

Came here on a Saturday night with a group of six, and the overall experience was disappointing. The cocktails were interesting but loaded with sugar. Four of us ordered steak and they all came out under cooked. Which is a surprising since the chef cut them in half. The service was slow even though it wasn’t very busy, and they were out of several items on the menu and beer list. For the price point and location, I expect better quality food and service. This place does have some good things going for it though. The ambiance was nice: low-lit new American, similar to Bostonia down the street. Despite the slow service, the staff was freindly and attentive. They had a good craft beer selection. And they were playing some great indie rock tunes from the 2000s on. Seems like this place is relatively new, so I hope they work out the kinks.

I was excited to try this new restaurant on the waterfront! It is a classic New American restaurant featuring a mix of appetizers, entrees, and sides with extensive wine lists available. My friend and I opted for a mix of starters and appetizers to share. Everyone from the hostesses, servers to bussers all made sure to accomodate our experience very well. Our small glasses of water were never empty, our server made sure that we received everything that we had asked for, and our bussers were very knowledgeable about the dishes once they were served. THREECHEESEBOARD($ 12) included an orange marmalade preserve and almonds with three cheese of your choice. We opted for the BIJOU, ARPEGGIO, and VALDEON. Our server was sure to explain each cheese in order of flavor profile, and once the dish arrived the server pointed out which cheese was which. None of the cheeses stood out as something I had to order again. I did not like the citrus preserve, as it contrasted sharply against the savory cheeses and did not mesh well together. Also, the almonds were candied so much that they were almost unchewable because it constantly got stuck in our teeth. TUNACRUDO($ 9) was mediocre with crispy shallots and lime. The fish was sliced in thin pieces and a good way to start the meal. DUCKCONFIT($ 13) was a great portion for an appetizer. It is definitely ideal to share or have as a standalone entrée. However, the duck itself was way too salty. The purée underneath with brussels sprouts helped balance the saltiness, but it still was too much. HOUSEMADERIGATONI($ 13) is also an appetizer that can serve as an entrée. The rigatoni is much smaller than normal rigatoni I am used to; it is much thinner and was cooked very al dente so that it was very chewy. The mixture of oyster mushrooms, beef cheek, and poached egg made this a very salty dish. There was nothing on this plate that helped balance the salty flavors. Of the options that we ordered, I don’t think I would order any of the listed options again besides the TUNACRUDO. However, I have seen other restaurants execute this dish equally as well, so I’m not sure that I would venture out to State Street Provisions any time soon.

Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday night. Sat at the bar so we could watch the playoff game. Bartenders were very attentive and friendly. Lobster roll was just ok, but my wife’s steak frites was excellent. Would highly recommend.

I knew this was a new restaurant but had read great reviews on here so decided to give it a try on a Friday night. After getting dinner its clear they are still working out the kinks. Slow, confused service and an average meal. The hostess approached my girlfriend 3 times in the five minutes she waited for me to arrive. She finally gave in to her persistence and was seated right next to a private event/happy hour of 20-somethings. I’ve been on the other end of plenty of these events, so I don’t mind much, but it would have been nicer to not have a large loud group a few feet away from us. Anyway, they seemed to be understaffed and/or operating with an unusual service model because it took 20-minutes to get our first drink(which had to be sent back — story below) and 30-minutes before being able to place an order for anything else. In that time two other servers or runners tried to drop food off at our table, to which we explained we hadn’t ordered yet. This happened 5 times throughout the night, culminating with warm apple cider donuts being placed in front of us shortly after our entrée plates were taken away(which we didn’t order, but thought may have been a surprise for poor service), only to be taken away 30-seconds later by an apologetic server and placed at the table next to us. Back to the wine. After first being told the Manzanilla on tap was a red wine, the server went away(darted away, rather abruptly actually) and came back to tell me it was a light and dry Sherry, as a Manzanilla should be. Instead something resembling bourbon came out that after one sip I had enough of. I genuinely thought he brought out the wrong drink because these placement mistakes had happened twice already, but when he finally did come back(the server was generally scarce and I had to flag him as he was walking to the register) he told me it was indeed the Manzanilla. I explained I did not like it because its not what I expected, so we ordered different glasses wine. Of course, the Manzanilla was still on the bill. For appetizers we ordered baked beans and green salad. The salad was very good(especially the poached figs in it), and the baked beans were okay although kind of plain. At this point it had been 45 minutes so I was just happy to have food. For entrees we ordered the prosciutto wrapped monkfish over risotto and steak frites. Both were okay to good. The risotto consistency wasn’t as smooth and fluid as it should have been, indicating it had been sitting for a while before being served, the fries were lukewarm, and the steak was just a steak. The food had been nothing to get excited about so far, so we passed on desert. I would consider going back in a few months, but I think there’s some work to be done here.

FINALLY. A restaurant on the waterfront that delivers great quality food, drink with exceptional service at a reasonable price point. We’ve now eaten at State Street Provisions three times and have had very good experiences both times. We were never really fans of Sel de la terre and City Landing was too expensive to be a spot we would go to regularly. Some of the things we have tried and enjoyed: Deviled Eggs: 2 deviled eggs with a little sriacha cream sauce. Really good Tuna crudo: Simple, good quality tuna, not Pastrami crustinis: The pastrami is awesome. Thick, a little crisp and so tasty. Bison Osso Buco: This was a NYE special. I told them they need to make this a permanent staple if at all possible. ITWASAWESOME. Black braised kale: One of my table mates got this and said it had a good spiciness to it. They were out of the prosciutto wrapped monkfish, when I went there last. I saw someone get this on NYE and it looked really good so we will have to come back for that. Their wine list is fantastic with many options ranging from $ 7 – 10 by the glass. They also have a solid beer list that features local and national craft beers from $ 6 – 8 per pint on average which is pretty standard. They have several larger format craft beer options as well. The cocktail list seems to be going for the speakeasy type vibe with classic/retro ingredients featuring quality and spirits. I think SSP has a really good recipe for success in this location. Keep delivering tasty food and drinks at good value prices and you will really turn up the heat on some of the lesser quality/expensive restaurants in the area(not naming names).

There is lots to like but also still lots of improvements. Even though there were lots of wide windows the restaurant was lowly lit. The bar was quite happening on arrival. The furnishings reminded you of the Russell House Tavern. The place wasn’t that busy yet our food did take a while to get to us. I had gone with some friends. The menu looked great and I was really pleased to see they had varied offerings of choices and also range. Not everyone can pull that off. They may still be ironing out a few kinks. I’m guessing they meant their rolls to be on the salty side. At first we thought it was the butter but it was definitely the buns. It was a nice surprise to have sparkling water be complimentary. I ordered the Salmon it was tenderly cooked. However, the sauce was a bit more salty than I would have guessed. One of my friends got the pasta special(make sure you ask for the specials) sounded delicious, but um, I thought it was under seasoned. The cocktail menu looked fun. Try the Fig martini! Only wished they had a bigger selection for wines in glass. I would give the experience more like 3.5 stars but added .5 for overall being accommodating! I definitely want to check it out again.

Service was pleasant, the food was decent enough, and the cocktails were interesting, but we ordered a pasta dish and a burger for our entrees, and waited over 45 minutes for them, with sincere apologies from management. I understand there are growing pains with a new restaurant but I expected more from the group that brought us Russell House Tavern.

I heard about this place opening near my work and I wanted to take my husband there. First the manager was very accommodating when we wanted to change our dinner table reservation to the busy bar, he made room for us no problem. I felt like everyone was waiting on us from behind the bar; I was looking for a sour beer and the bar tender gave me exactly what I was looking for. All the staff all had great food recommendations which I took and am glad I did! Shout out to Sal and the incredibly sweet girl who recommended the pâté and the bar tender who suggested my sour beer! The beef cheek toast is insane, chicken liver pâté was super fresh and the oysters of course, can’t go wrong. THEYMAKETHEIROWNBREADINHOUSE. A wonderfully warm ambiance that doesn’t try hard at all; everything just fits. Can’t wait to go back.

Wonderful dinning experience! The food was fantastic. We ordered the Duck Confit appetizer and did not expect to get an entire wing! It was gorgeous and rich in flavor. The duck was cooked perfectly. The rib eye was seasoned beautifully with a perfect amount of kosher salt and pepper and was cooked to a perfect medium rarely as ordered. The scallop ceviche was a unique experience. The scallops delightfully melted in your mouth. We were a party of 5 and everyone was gushing over their choices. The drinks were creative. The deserts were seasonal and irresistible. I got the sweet potato custard and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was fantastic as well. Our server was attentive and patient while guiding us through the menu. The GM stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying our experience. Overall, we walked away ecstatic and full! So excited to see that this new restaurant is a home run!

I got a great tip on a fabulous new restaurant in Boston so I decided to take my mother there for her birthday Saturday night. This is my new favorite place! I made a reservation for 7 pm but after walking around Faneuil Hall, we got hungry a little sooner and walked in the door about 6:30. The smiling hostess brought us over to our table immediately and let us know that our server would be with us shortly. My mother(who is in a wheelchair) preferred to sit in the booth and the hostess waited on us patiently and took the wheel chair out of our way once she was seated. The waitress came over and offered water while we got a chance to peek at the extensive wine and cocktail list. Everything looked so delicious, but my family and I must have had the same thing in mind as we all ordered the«Christmas Collins» for our first drinks, which had Campari, bubbles, juniper and lemon, among other ingredients. It was fresh, crisp and wildly tasty! For our appetizers, we decided to get a half dozen oysters and the House-Cured Salt Cod Fritters. I cannot rave enough about these two dishes. I’m pretty sure that these were the best oysters I have ever had — which I am attributing to the Cucumber and Pink Peppercorn Mignonette served on the side — it is absolutely to die for. Also, the Salt Cod Fritters were fried to perfection and is paired perfectly with the chorizo aioli sauce. For dinner, my mother and aunt each chose the glass of spanish red which they offer on tap(the name escapes me at the moment), but yes, you read that right, on tap! They offer two reds, two whites, and Amaro Lucano on tap at the bar. I sipped from my mother’s glass and the wine was smooth and rich. I had a glass of the Riondo prosecco, because let’s face it, I love prosecco. For meals, my mother and I both had the prosciutto wrapped monkfish with cauliflower risotto and an asparagus cream sauce. The prosciutto was the perfect amount of saltiness which elevated the already cooked perfectly monkfish. Needless to say, I ate the whole thing! My aunt had the steak frites, which she said the steak was tender and delicious, and it came with a mountain of fries on top! We came real close to not ordering dessert as we were so full, but you always have to order dessert on your birthday! By the waitress’ suggestion, we ordered the Chocolate Date Almond Cake with Chocolate-Cognac Mousse with an Almond Brittle. All I can say about this is that I don’t even like almonds or dates but this was pretty much the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted! The waitress even brought the dessert out with a candle for my mother(but thankfully no embarrassing singing troop accompanied her). The ambiance is very relaxing and gives sort of a casual feel in an elegant setting. I felt comfortable being slightly tucked into a corner looking over the relatively spread out dining room. Most places in town, I feel like I’m sitting on top of someone else but you won’t get that feeling here. While we didn’t really get a chance to check out the bar area, it looked quite cozy even though it was getting a lot of business. All in all this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Boston in a long long time. Definitely worth the visit! I’ll definitely be coming back!

I stopped into this new restaurant tonight for dinner and it was fantastic! This place is a great mix of casual, elegant and affordable. The service was super attentive and the food was REALLY good! I came with my friend, we both had a glass of wine, split a cheese board(super creamy and delicious! served with grilled buttery bread) and we actually both ended up getting the steak frites. They gave us so many fries, like lots of fries and it came with two big hunks of steak! We both easily had leftovers for later. I will definitely come back! Overall the bill between all of that was only $ 40 each. Check it out!

Brand new — slated to open Thursday, Dec 3, 2015 We were a couple of the lucky people to be invited to a 2 evening soft opening for this fabulous new restaurant! Located at the edge of Long Wharf, taking culinary inspiration from the Boston waterfront’s more than 300-year legacy of international trade and commerce. It’s the first restaurant in Boston proper from the Grafton Group, which operates four popular Cambridge eateries(Grafton Street /PARK Cambridge /Russell House Tavern /Temple Bar). It’s beautiful space is handsomely designed and very comfortable in a casual elegant way. You are greeted by a friendly staff, the service is excellent with knowledgeable wait staff. There is an extensive wine, beer, cocktail & cordials list. The food is imaginative and exceptional! With nods to their other restaurants this chef has brought wonderful flavors to his dishes. There are so many small plates such as Lobster Bisque with Tarragon Puff Pastry Grilled Baby Carrots, Boston Baked Beans Beef Cheek Pastrami Toast just to name a few… The appetizers range from salads to house made sausage, steamed Moosabec Mussels, House-Cured Salt Cod Fritter, Home-made Rigatoni and more! We loved the Maplebrook Farm Burrata with Fresh Fig Caponata, Black Garlic served with Crostini. Their«Pantry», cheese boards, Raw Bar all boast of classic dishes with fascinating and original ideas. Our Entrees of Steak Frites and Grilled Brandt Farm Rib-Eye were melt in your mouth delicious as were the sides served with them. We managed to save room for dessert and we were so happy we did! The Chocolate Date Almond Cake with Chocolate-Cognac Mousse with an Almond Brittle was absolutely perfection! No need to wait for this restaurant to «season» they are a well oiled machine with a fabulous menu. I suggest when they do open, make a reservation — I have a feeling this will be THE place to go to in Boston very quickly!
