I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to come here. They are only open weekdays for limited hours. I got the southwest pastrami and it was literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Packed with tons of pastrami and topped with bacon on rye bread. Definitely worth the price of the sandwiches. This place is definitely worth going to!!!

They showed up at our office with free surprise lunch delivery! Salads and sandwiches to deserts! They even included vegetarian choices which makes me happy since I am veggie. Fresh, delicious ingredients and they DELIVER! Thank you so much for the delicious food– we all have different tastes in our office and everyone enjoyed their lunch. Made our week!

As many patrons have previously mentioned ‘don’t let the line deter you.’ The line was nearly out the door when I came in on a Friday around 1:00PM. It was my first time to Boston and so I wanted to be sure to visit a place with fantastic reviews. I ordered what the man behind the counter recommended – the Rumanian Pastrami. It did not disappoint. Sure, it’s a little pricey, but given the location and the healthy portions it’s not all that surprising. It’s impossible to decide what is more delicious, the bread or the meat, as both of them combined created something only Tenacious D would be able to articulate in a poetic song.

$ 14 for a sandwich and they don’t even give you fries? Doesn’t look like a very impressive sandwich either! And then I bit it and every ounce of skepticism melted away. I got a southwestern pastrami sandwich and let me say that I don’t think I’ve had a better sandwich. It’s just that good. Perfect ratio of meat to bread to cheese, and best of all the mayo is just the perfect sized dab to add flavor and moisture without the sandwiches integrity being hindered. Just try it.

Oh my. I regret not having come here earlier to try more things on the menu. I came here as one of my last hurrah’s of Boston food right before moving to NYC. Came early with a couple friends so we didn’t have to wait in line. Several others had the same idea. PLUS, if you wait until the lunch rush, you’ll probably be in line forever seeing as Sam LaGrassa’s is in a pretty convenient and central area of Boston. Everyone working was very nice and made sure to make time for you despite how incredibly they were from the get go. My friend and I ordered the Chipotle Pastrami Sandwich as a combo platter. It was the perfect amount for two small girls to share. Our other friend ordered just the Pastrami Corned Beef Sandwich and it seemed to be quite enough for him alone. Both sandwiches were to die for. Again, plenty of food, great portion. The chipotle pastrami had enough spice for a nice kick at the end of each bite. Nothing too spicy or out of this world. Just right! The Pastrami Corned Beef Sandwich was nice and hearty with a wonderful Russian sauce to balance it all out. The fries were also incredibly good. Too often do the fries around Boston lack any flavor or they’re too soggy or too crunchy. Bravo to Sam LaGrassa’s for perfecting even the small things. I probably wouldn’t make coming here a habit, simply because of the price. Although, if you just want to splurge every so often, I would say that the food is definitely worth the money!

Singularly one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. I had the corned beef/pastrami combo with slaw, Russian dressing, and Swiss cheese on soft rye bread. The meats were sliced thick right in front of me at the counter. Perfectly tender and not fatty. Sandwich came with half sour pickle slices(more like cucumber taste than a dill Pickle) — fantastic. The place is packed but the line moves quickly. Separate line for take out orders. The doctor(Notorious MD) wishes he made rounds more often in Boston so I could eat lunch here frequently.

I walked into here thinking that this place was one of those tourist traps(given its high popularity on Tripadvisor), but I’m glad to see that this restaurant has stayed authentic and true to its core. As per everyone’s recommendations, I ordered the Pastrami Corned Beef Combo, half for here and half to-go(tell them when you order so they can pack the other half in tin foil for you). The line moves quickly and there’s high turn-over on the seats as well. If all the tables are taken, there is a standing area near the back of the restaurant for those who just want a quick bite — it also happens to have the best lighting for photos! Now on to the food. The Pastrami Corned Beef Combo sandwich was so, so good — the perfect combination of slightly sweet meat and savory fillings and sauce. The beef tasted fresh and flavorful, and it honestly looked stunning as well. They also pack a ton of meat into just half a sandwich — I definitely felt that I was getting my money’s worth. Simply put, it was the perfect sandwich. If there was anything I had to change, it would be the pickle on the side — it tasted a little funny, not as sour as your normal pickle. Boston has a lot of great sandwich shops, but I think Sam LaGrassa’s really takes the cake. I’ll be back to try the Chipotle Pastrami and Diablo next.

Lunch at Sam lagrassa is fast and furious. The line may seem daunting but it is rather efficient and well worth the wait. Easily the top sliced deli meat sandwich anywhere in or around Boston. You’d be hard pressed to find anything even close until you reach NYC,(Katz deli, I’m talking to you!). The pastrami and corned beef combo is a personal favorite. Words of wisdom: it may seem like a regular sized sandwich but it will absolutely fill you up with or without a side item. Don’t underestimate the piles of meat!

This was a highly rated restaurant in Boston. I had to try it because I love authentic delicatessens. Walking in, you could tell that this was going to be a positive experience. This place was packed, which is definitely a good sign. There were long lines, but moved fairly quickly. I ordered the Pastrami Corned Beef combo sandwich. I was hearty and delicious. The meats were cooked to perfection and were not overly salty. The slaw was good, and the rye bread was ok. I also ordered the steak fries. My wife ordered the Asiago turkey sandwich. It was average. HOWEVER, this place is known for the corned beef and pastrami. What was she thinking? I will go here again and highly recommend to anyone who likes to eat.

Good sandwiches. Best out of our group was the Traveler Pastrami. Perfect flavor and great with the toasted bread. All the pastrami was delicious and thinly sliced, but the meat on the Diablo kind of fell apart. Portions don’t look huge, but we all left stuffed. Certainly better than the typical deli and worth the little bit of searching to find it. They are only opened for lunch and sandwiches were a few dollars more than the average deli, but all in all seemed like a good value and a fun place to ready while visiting Boston.

Not sure why or how this place is always packed?! Maybe because the name and how it’s been around for a while? Been here two times and after the second time I decided to Unilocal about it to help you. Got a simple roast beef sandwich with cheese, a pickle on the side and a Nantucket nectar. Went to sit down as my bill was 17 $ I went back up to see if they forgot my fries but they said I didn’t order any and it was extra. Take a look at my pictures I cannot believe my meal was 17 dollars. Even if they used a half a lb. of roast beef which they may have that cannot cost $ 20 a pound which is about what they are charging. Also the sandwhich was not that great tasting even if it cost only $ 5. Sandwhich gets a 4 out of 10 on my scale. Nothing great. Crazy prices not the best food or value for Boston, will probably not return here again.

Sam LaGrassa’s seems like THE place to be for a weekday luncheon. The place was packed, and seating was non-existent. Funny thing was the line moved super quickly, and the seating turn-around was pretty quick. Lots of the local business folk dropping by for a quick bite. My girlfriend and I shared the Pastrami & Corned Beef Combo with a side of cole slaw & fries, with an added side of their sauerkraut. The sandwich was so huge! Packed with meat, and really fresh, it can definitely fill you up along with all the sides. I really liked their sauerkraut — it’s not too sour, but doesn’t just taste like wet cabbage. I’d like to come back to try more of their sandwiches! They definitely have a lengthy menu, and everything sounds so good!

The quality is there but my sandwich is gross. I got pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, and mustard it tastes like my sandwich is dripping in honey/sugar/some type of sweetness. This is just gross. Nothing I ordered is a sweet item and its definitely the meat. I’ll pass. Next time I’ll head over to Al’s. How do I say the quality is good? I can tell it’s all fresh and the meat is tender BUTWHYTHEHELLISITSWEET?

Came here for lunch and this place was packed! You just line up, put in your order and they’ll make your sandwich before you pay. There weren’t too many seats that were available, but luckily I was able to find a table. We got the pastrami and corned beef sandwich on a platter, which came with fries(or potato salad) and cole slaw, to share The meat had great flavor and was super juicy. The fries were definitely fresh and burned my mouth slightly haha. It was also a good thing we shared because I was so full by the end. Definitely a great sandwich place although a bit on the pricier end.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. When I first moved in to my new apartment I had no idea what my new options through GrubHub were. They were highly rated on there as well as on Unilocal so I gave it a try and I’m sure glad I did. I ended up ordering the Chicken Pesto sandwich which was really good but I tried a few bites of someone’s Chipotle Pastrami sandwich and it was heaven on earth. I’m not a big pastrami guy but I think I’ll have to reconsider my stance after trying that sandwich!

Love this place! There’s usually a line, so I go to the take-out side. Amazing hot sandwiches, I get the roast beef with red peppers and cheese, and it is absolutely out of this world. Nice thick portion of sliced roast beef, delicious peppers and melted cheese, all infused with a spicy sauce. The only real kicker is that it costs $ 12. Other than the price though, I highly recommend trying this place. Your stomach will thank you.

The food here is absolutely disgusting!!! I got the BBQ chicken let’s start of here the bread was cold the chicken was also gross. They didn’t warm it up at all. I had mine with out bacon but my other friend had it with Bacon and said it tasted bad more or less like plastic. Then comes the steak fries looked like fries that came out of a Market Basket bag and they sprinkled a lot of salt on it. Lastly I got my orange mango juice which wasn’t bad hence for the 2 stars! To wrap it up 2 small burgers, steak fries, and 2 drinks should not cost you 38 dollars that’s absolutely ridiculous I mean if the portion were at least big it’d make sense but it’s so small. After reading Unilocal reviews I was excited to go here! Once I tasted the first bite definitely an overrated place. I don’t understand how it made it to the show Phantom Gourmet cuz they don’t deserve that at all!

Unquestionably the top pastrami on the planet and that I have consumed it in multiple countries. They are doing anything inside the cooking, my guess is that they’re marinating in beer, nevertheless the style is exceptional and there’s no fat. The chips will be the best I have ever consumed anywhere. The remaining portion of the selection can also be excellent, you just cannot make a mistake in this location.

Came here for lunch one day with friends from work. The line was long but it moved pretty quickly. I shared a Ruben and Cuban with someone else. Both sandwiches came out nice and hot with crisped bread. Both sandwiches had such a good flavor profile, not too salty or dry. I wish this place were closer so we could get the sandwiches more often!

Yes, this place is worth the type. Yes, it is a monstrous, tasty sandwich jammed packed with juicy meats. Yes, there will be a lengthy long. Yes, it is on the pricier side for a sandwich. Al’s is a good value play, but sometimes you just want a super good, filling sandwich and Sam LaGrassa’s has your back. Located near the BNY Mellon building in Downtown, Sam LaGrassa is almost always packed, but there’s good reason for it. They have a great variety of sandwich meats to choose from such as pastrami and corned beef, both of which are highly recommended. Come early or after prime-time lunch hours to avoid the wait! You can also order ahead, which I recommend, or have them cater!

This place is excellent. I saw it on a TV show(the food network!?) a number of years ago and have been meaning to try it out ever since. Finally made it there this week. A friend and I split a pastrami sandwich, fries, and a cookie. The pastrami was rich, the peppers were hot, and it was downright delicious. They even gave us a few more toppings when some fell off the plate as we were making our way to the register(read: good customer service.) We went for an early lunch right when they opened and didn’t have any sort of a wait.

As far as flavor and presentation, the food here is good. I tried the Eggplant sandwich and really enjoyed it, the pickle it came with was pretty nasty but no big deal. The reason I’m only giving it two stars is because the prices are ridiculous and not worth it at all. $ 13 for a single sandwich…$ 4.25 for a smedium fries…$ 3.25 for a cookie! I’m sorry, but this didn’t taste like high-end fast food. Again the food was good, but for the price of one sandwich here, I’d rather order a steak-tip meal up the street. Sorry guys

Whenever I’m on the east coast, I have a massive pastrami craving that accumulated over here on the west coast. After tons of seafood, I found this place which specialized in pastrami and oh my god did this place deliver. I ordered the Pastrami Diablo. Amazing. Between the bread is delicious pastrami, bacon, bbq sauce, pepper jack cheese, onions and peppers. My mouth is drooling as I am thinking about it. I am a big fan of the classic pastrami sandwich but this one was perfect in my book. Despite the diablo name, I didn’t find it to be too spicy at all. During lunch it wasn’t too crowded and finding a table was a little difficult. Overall, this is one of the best pastrami sandwiches around. Eat and enjoy.

Every sandwich here is soooo good. This time around I got the southwest pastrami. It was amazing and surprisingly very very filling. However, every sandwich here is over $ 11 which is a bit steep. I would definitely go back but only on very rare occasions. Hard to justify a $ 15 meal on a work day. This is typically the go to spot for company catering so if you hear of an event with catering from Sam lagrassas I suggest you go.

Wowowowowow, what a sandwich. This place is food coma paradise. I would almost rather have a pastrami sandwich from here than ice cream, and I really like ice cream. And yeah, I know, this isn’t «authentic» pastrami that is 60% marbling cut from the cow’s belly, but should pastrami really be judged by how many weeks it takes for your blood pressure to come back down after eating? This stuff is damn good. So tender it melts in your mouth. Truly delectable. I had the Pastrami Traveler’s, and A had the Veggie Wrap. While mine was beyond words heavenly, I was impressed upon impressed with how tasty her veggie sandwich was. It almost tasted meaty(excellent use of eggplant) and was quite filling. This was my favorite find on the whole East Coast trip, so if you find yourself in the neighborhood, don’t miss it.

It’s a national tragedy that this place is opened weekdays only, as their $ 13.86* pastrami is the best we’ve had outside NY. The takeout area is awkward, but it’s worth the hassle. *swiss is recommended but costs extra, which they don’t mention

My romance languages are a bit fuzzy, but I seem to recall that«grasa» means«fat» in some language(s), which is exactly how I felt after eating here. In the best way possible. I had the pastrami and corned beef combo sandwich and it was very generous in size and even more generous in flavor. The meat was really well prepared, the bread was fresh, and russian dressing had a bit of a kick to it. $ 13 is a lot to justify paying for a sandwich, but it’s a ton of food and a good treat for every now and then. Try to get to this place outside of peak lunch times since the line can be pretty extraordinary sometimes. Check this place out if you’re heading up to the freedom trail, since you’ll want to do some exercise after you’re done. Food: 4⁄5 Value: 3⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Atmosphere: 4⁄5

Was at work a few weeks ago & one of the co-workers want a Sandwich so off to Sam’s we went… I used to use them for my catering when I worked at Childrens Hospital so I had their sandwiches in the past and was excited to re-visit… Keeping in mind I HADNEVERHADPASTRAMIINMYLIFEUNTILTHISDAY(at Childrens I would get the Turkey or Roast Beef) So I immediately didnt think I needed to order that. I got the Portobello which is my go to if I’m at a sandwich place. They do offer delivery but its quite pricey as we are in Cambridge — so I went to go grab it & was able to run in & out… OMG the Portobello was SOO good, and I was made to try the Pastrami(WTF — Why didnt I try this sooner in life) OMG… It was soo good and Im told its not really that good from other places that I need to get it here… So now Ive been on this Pastrami Mission… It was St Patricks Day last week so now Im all about Corned Beef/Pastrami — JUSTOMG… Why cant I ever find new salads that are amazing, Its always the worst possible thing for you… But damn you Sam LaGrassa’s You make One hell of a sandwich! I had read about this spot for many trips and never wanted to deal with what I heard about the craziness here. Well, no craziness just one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Period. End of story. The pastrami corned beef with Swiss and coke slaw in light rye is perfect. The meat to bread ratio is right on and not a sloppy mess(ok, sort of) and U.S. An epic meal. The service and staff are quick and efficient and the price is fair. My wife had the Cuban. Again, a great unit. I would live upstairs and be here everyday if I could. Just go, eat and tell the tale. Sandwich, SAM-mich… get it? Ok, maybe not. Typically, I am not a big fan of sandwiches– I am more of a wrap or burrito kind of girl. But I have to give props to Sam LaGrassa’s! Their pastrami and corned beef sandwich combo is AMAZING. It was love at first bite! There are so many components to this sandwich that make it not just any ordinary sandwich. First, the meat to bread ratio is 3:1. Second, the sweet and sour coleslaw balances the heaviness and saltiness of the pastrami and corned beef. Third, uh… swiss cheese! What happens when all of those ingredients come together? Well, it magically becomes the perfect sandwich! Then why not give them that extra star, if it is that good? Although the sandwich is really delicious, the bread gets soggy because of the coleslaw. And soggy bread is disgusting; it gets too messy to eat. They can easily solve that problem by slathering a fatty layer(i.e. mayonnaise or butter) on the bread and toasting it to form a hydrophobic layer on the bread to protect it from soaking up the liquid from the cole slaw dressing(Nerd talk). In addition, I have a problem with their opening hours… They only open for lunch! What’s up with that? Sometimes I crave it as a late night snack, but I can’t get my sandwich! You have to try the pastrami and corned beef combo from Sam LaGrassa’s if you haven’t already! *Pinkies up*
