I love the location of this cider house — in the beautiful fall-laden countryside, just off 219 and never very crowded. The cider is absolutely delicious(very sweet) and the various butters and canned goods follow suite. The main reason I give this place 3 stars is because if you look at the ingredients label on the majority of products, high fructose corn syrup is a big player. Really? High fructose corn syrup being used by a little independent shop in the hills of Western NY? What a disappointment. If the natural sugars aren’t enough, then simple granulated sugar should do the job. Worth a visit, just use sparingly!

Can’t say that it was all that impressive. absolutely a nice stop for the family in the fall to pick up some cider and apples during the fall months, but it is limited to that. some decent prices for pumpkins and gourds completed with some special selections of apples that are around $ 15 a pound compared to their $ 1 a pound selections.

Folks, it’s autumn once again, and wouldn’t you know that during those 10 days a year when you need neither air conditioning or heat in Buffalo, you’ve got that hankering for some fresh-pressed apple cider? This is the place to go. I support Red Barrel completely, having experienced it dozens of times throughout my childhood. This place was chosen by my dear old father as our all-in-one destination for apples, cider, leaf-peeping, and down home country kitsch(we never really got any of that) several times each autumn. As far as I know, he selected Red Barrel due to the quality of its cider, having consumed many ciders over the years. For years, it was not pasteurized(probably is now), which in my mind added something to the body, the bouquet, the notes and lacing, and the certain je né sais quoi of drinking something that could’ve come right from the udders of an apple tree. That’s how cider is made, right? I recall the grinding noises of machines pressing cider in the back… not sure if those have gone quiet or not. But what I can say is that the cider here is not like the thin, vomit colored liquid you buy at a supermarket. It is thick, like Robitussin(actually I prefer Dimetapp, but that seems too obscure for a Unilocal review), and a deep reddish brown. The character of the cider changes by the month as new varieties get pressed. Yeah. This place is fucking genuine. Hey, who added all these photos but no reviews?
