North end, TD garden place. McDonald’s style French fries with dip. Townie atmosphere without any questions. Late night availability until 2am. Always a good choice.

As a dive bar goes with 80s music they get some points. I was recommended to here for Buffalo Wings… big mistake. They were basically Sysco Foods chicken tenders with lousy buffalo sauce and the blue cheese dressing is definitely not homemade. Too bad the Hooters one block away is not open anymore. That should say volumes.

We dropped in here for a drink during our day of exploring Boston — it wasn’t great. The worst part had to be the service, the bartender looked like she was only there under threat of torture or something. Only spoke to us to take our order, otherwise was way down the other end chatting with either friends or other staff — it wasn’t just us she was rude to either, we saw her be pretty rude with other people. The bar has decent beer choices which is good. We ended up ordered the potato appetiser, was fried potato chunks with a blue cheese sauce. It was actually pretty good, but a huge serve we couldn’t finish it between 2 of us. We were here at about 2pm on Monday so it wasn’t busy, but I don’t care if it’s 2am or 2pm — this is the service industry, staff need to give atleast half a crap at all times. My recommendation is an overhaul of service standards, and this place could be a really great hangout.

Great place to grab a beer after the game and really liked the waitress and chicken tenders. Craft beers are good here and love the name

A nice little sports bar in the north end, near the garden. It’s not a huge place but good for chowing down on a burger or sandwhich. The service was good, pleasant and attentive. They have good drink selections and had a couple games playing with plenty of cheering fans. This place has the pub food you desire late at night. The BBQ burger was delicious with bacon onion rings and sweet baby rays. The french fries were nice and crispy. The downeast cider was awesome.

The Cajun blackened ahi tuna tacos are amazing! The chipotle mayo is a little spicy so I order it on the side. But this is my second time eating there and the tacos are still great.

Meh. On paper this place looks better than it is. We asked for a booth, got an eye roll from the waitress. Ordered only one drink, now the other waitress is annoyed. Food came out quick and was pretty standard bad bar food. Skip it and you aren’t missing anything.

I really liked this bar. Down by the garden you won’t find to many dive bars and this along with Sullivan’s tap is the closest you’ll get to it. Quick service too which is great because when you’re out the last thing you want to do is wait. I also saw a sign about a wing deal on Wednesday! I’m excited to go back and try their food!

We were the only two people in the restaurant. You’d think we would get superb service, but instead we were largely ignored. My bbq burger was amazingly tasty. The fries were McDonald’s quality(not a compliment) but edible with some vinegar. My dad was very disappointed with his fish and chips. I gave him a bite of my burger and he was jealous. Our server was a typical bored, surly college-aged girl and visited our table only to take our order, deliver our food, and take our money. She was otherwise standing at the end of the bar gabbing with the other servers. We needed refills and got none. She doesn’t like her job and obviously needs to find another profession. I’d love to have the burger again, but the rudeness would keep me from coming back.

Nice place and food was ok, but the food took about an hour to come out and the staff was not very friendly

Seemed like it was trying to be multiple things, part bar, part restaurant, but not really a crossover

This bar has the friendliest staff I have ever met. Not friendly in an over the top, creepy awkward way. Like you would meet in Mayberry, except not prying and judgmental. Just plain old, neutrally friendly. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich, and my counterpart had either the gyro or the fish tacos… for some reason I can’t remember. Too distracted by the totally normal friendliness. Anyway my chicken sandwich was perfect, and it’s really the only BBQ chicken I had all summer, so that was a highlight! I’m sure her’s must have been good too… whatever it was. Hugely extensive beer list, which strangely enough didn’t have prices. Not going to lie, price is a big factor for me when I’m stuck between two options, so prices would be nice. Let’s be serious I would never, ever ask how much something is, no matter how friendly the staff were. Overall ambiance is much nicer than other bars in the area — furniture is newer and well upholstered. They even had some arcade games! It wasn’t very crowded but you had the feeling a lot of the people there all knew each other and were friendly. Hell, I’d be a regular here. Great American food and beer at decent prices with freakishly normally friendly people. Definitely a top contender in the North Station area.

Hidden among other bars. Great burgers, nice size bar. Parking is street only(didn’t see a garage near). Inexpensive for dinner.

Good place for a solid burger or sandwich and a beer or drink. Cubano sandwich was tasty, and burgers are huge. Decent selection of beer and a nice vibe in the place — kind of a mix of sports bar and Irish pub. Not a destination restaurant, but a good choice in the area.

Very happy with this bar! My boyfriend and I have been to quite a few of the bars in this area and sampled food at most of them, so we weren’t expecting much going into Porter’s. However, it surprised us! We sat at the bar and ordered wings and fries and a couple beers. The bartender was friendly enough and was on his game with the service for ourselves and other guests from what we could tell. The big selling point for us was the food though. The caribbean jerk wings with horseradish ranch were GREAT. The wings were a good size and had a dry rub on them but the dipping sauce really put them over the top. Perfectly seasoned and with the right amount of heat. The fries were also done very well, but the key to those were the dipping sauces as well! It came with three different types and we could barely decide which was the favorite. To top it all off the bill was less than we would usually expect to pay for the amount of food and drinks that we got. I’m already dreaming about the next time I get to have my unhealthy dinner of wings and fries … and it will definitely be at this bar when I do!

On our recent trip to Boston, my husband and I found this place close to our hotel. We didn’t order any food, just beer, but we still loved it! They offer plenty of different beers on tap, along with local varieties. We each tried two different beers they had on tap that night and we liked all four of them. Our service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. It was a weekday night, so it was pretty quiet, which was nice. It seemed to be a somewhat local crowd(our server was surprised to see our Kansas IDs) and it was a wonderful little stop for us. The price for four beers was a little more expensive than we are used to, but I would assume that it’s similar pricing to other area pubs.

On a Saturday night at 6pm in Boston, everyone was quoting us an average wait time of 45 minutes. My friend and I were getting hungry and found Porters without a wait. I didn’t have high expectations, our trip out for dinner was mainly to eat and not being concerned with the what or where. The staff at Porters weren’t engaging or anything, but were nice enough. I had their burger of the week which had a fried pepper, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo — pretty good burger. My friend had the cajun grilled chicken roll-up, which also was spicy and hit the spot. Both entrees came with the usual side of fries. This was standard, nothing special about them. I also ordered the Downeast Cider. This cider looked and tasted like it had actual apple juice in it and it was cloudy like freshly made apple juice. Overall, Porters is a good place to grab a semi-quick bite. The food is decent and all the patrons seemed to be enjoying their food and the environment.

I’ve been working at Boston college for the last few months and really miss Metro Detroit. I would have thought I’d see many pubs around the campus but it just isn’t the case. There are some but compared to Michigan State. I know two different schools. Anyway, my collegue and I headed out for lunch parked around the main drag and I saw«PUB»…Yelped it and when I saw the food I had to race in the place. Based on my one meal, the food is really great. I ordered chicken curry with ½ fries and ½ rice. Really good. Spiced sauced chicken cooked perfectly. However, the star of the meal are the fries. They are massive and just really awesome. I didn’t have any drinks but they have the standards plus a few more. I believe Pabst drafts or buckets might be a regular special.
