Plaza Theatres at Boston Center for the Arts

Recently saw Hairy Tales at the black box theater — great casual, intimate «neighborhood» theater, will definitely be back.

The BCA Plaza Theatres consist of two small black box theaters sharing a common entrance, foyer, and snack bar. Filtered water is available gratis just outside the ladies’ room.
I’ve seen a variety of productions here, such as OperaHub’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Company One’s cultural crossover adventure You For Me For You, and imaginary beasts’ seasonal Winter Panto 2012: The Half-​Baked and Hard-​to-​Swallow History of Humpty Dumpty. The focus of the productions is more on the scripts and the acting and less so on the stage sets. In fact the staging tends towards being relatively scanty with the rest being filled in by your imagination.
The seats are cushy comfy enough with stadium seating in the theater by the water filter (BCA Plaza Theatre), and level seating in the theater set closer to the foyer (Plaza Black Box Theater).
Refreshments purchased at the snack bar are allowed into the theaters.
