I had the prime rib of beef. I thought it was exceptional. One star below only because the service was a little bit surly for such a fine steakhouse.

Why is Plaza III still in business? There is never anyone inside when I walk by, the food is sub-par on taste(and, considering the price tag, sub-sub par), and the service is insanely slow. Only stopped in to eat here once, but we stood inside for a good 5 minutes before anyone even greeted us. Servers were walking around, yes, but no one stopped to acknowledge we were standing there until my boyfriend happened to say«excuse me, two for brunch?» to which we were told it’d be a minute to get the hostess. Huh? At noon on a Sunday, we’d expected more people to be out to brunch. North Street Grille becomes a zoo at 9:30! I’ve never been able to stroll into a restaurant at that hour on sunday and get a table without waiting. However, this place was empty. there was one other couple dining. We were seated at a table against the big windows, and it being late-fall, the room was a bit drafty for my liking and I was cold throughout the meal. The food was so incredibly forgettable, but the price sure wasn’t. Neither was the fact that I had to ask the server many times for water. We’ve lived just down the street for many years, and despite the convenience, we have only been once and I will never go again.

As other reviewers have noted, the food is average. What I would add is that the service is absolutely terrible. It took forever to get a drink(soda) and get our order in — then another 45 minute wait. I told the waitress when we got in that we had a time crunch and she gave me some song-and-dance about how they were busy(it was lunchtime) but the last time we had gone the place was empty and the service was still horrible. Lunchtime is busy every day — so what gives? I would rather go hungry than eat here again. Save your money and get something really good somewhere else.

The place was just ok. My steak was a little overdone and lacking flavor the lamb chop was good steak soup is suppose to be famous but it was very very salty and the dessert mousse was outstanding. Service lacked. Paying prices like that go to capital grille, flemmings, grille 23, moo way before this place. Very upset by it

I visited this restaurant the first day of restaurant week, aug.9. I wanted to try out this restaurant because it was known for upscale steakhouse and the great location. However; service was slow, and I had better steak before. I say this place is pricey because of the location. Their godiva chocolate mousse was good.

My significant other and I visited Boston in what turned out to be Restaurant Week, so we searched the Internet for a place to have dinner on our last night and found Plaza III. They were offering a three-course menu for $ 33 a person and had some pretty decent Unilocal reviews, so we decided to give it a try. It’s located right in Faneuil Hall Marketplace and was only about a five-minute walk from our hotel near the TD Banknorth Center. It’s a nice-looking place, pretty and fancy without being too stuffy. There was a large family celebrating someone’s birthday, and a few other couples, plus three young tourists in jeans and sweatshirts, so it doesn’t seem like the type of place to look down on you if you don’t dress or act a certain way. After all, if it’s in Faneuil Hall, it probably gets much of its revenue from tourists. The restaurant was only about an hour from closing time, so we were able to get a table with no problem. We were given menus and a wine list, but the Restaurant Week promotion was not mentioned(even though a sign outside the restaurant displayed their RW menu) so we were afraid we had gotten some wrong information. But once the waiter came back we asked him, and he showed us the RW menu, which was under our other menus on the table. It took a while for him to come back(another waitress took our wine order, but took a few mintues to bring it over, even though the place wasn’t busy), but we eventually placed our orders — we were offered a choice between four soup/salad starters, a choice of four entrees and a choice of two desserts. I had a Cesar salad and my significant other had their«famous steak soup,» which turned out to be something resembling gravy with some chunks of meat and vegetables in it. S.O. said it was good, but not what he had anticipated. My salad was solid, with good croutons. We were also given some very tasty, fresh, warm sourdough bread that was excellent. We ordered the same entrée, which was two slices of filet mignon and two large shrimp, a side of mashed potatoes and some asparagus, all drizzled with bearnaise and diable sauces. Very tasty, and a generous portion … I was unable to finish much of it and they packed it up for me to take back to the hotel(and I unfortunately left it behind when we went to a bar afterward, argh!). Dessert was a choice of either Godiva chocolate mousse(garnished with whipped cream and fresh raspberries), or cheesecake with fresh strawberries, so we got one of each and shared it. Both were very tasty. In total, our two meals, two glasses of pinot grigio and the tip came out to $ 100. Not bad. I don’t think we would’ve gone here had they not been running the Restaurant Week promotion, as it seems pretty pricey(we have a casual steakhouse near our hometown in New Jersey where you can get twice as much for half the price). But for $ 100, we were quite pleased with what we had gotten. Definitely something to try if you can get a similar deal.

Located in Fanueil Hall. Upscale steak restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. Great in the summer to sit outside and watch people walk by. I at here at lunch time and ordered the steak salad. I thought it was really good. Cost about $ 16…pricey but you expect that at a steak restaurant. I’ve also heard this is a good place to grad a drink after work if you want to go somewhere quiet.

Dude… the Filet Mignon Sandwich is a must. This is normally a tender cut of meat that requires gentle care with a hint of salt and pepper. Or you could go the other way and top it with all kinds of tasty chingychangers… onion fries, sauteed mushrooms, yellow somethin sauce, special sauce… taste buds had to work around all that in order to finally enjoy the tasty filet mignon. I fully enjoyed the meal. Waitress got the salad order wrong and brought over a ceasar. Hella boring… Service was friendly but think they could bump it a notch for what this place charges.

I was expecting more. Food tasted average at best and as always, when the food sucks for whatever reason the bill is always high. If you’re in Boston, eat anywhere else… there are a ton of places within a block of this one.

We wandered into Plaza III after my graduation looking for steak & wine for lunch. It was just opening for the day so the waitstaff was very attentive & helpful to our party of 7. The sirloin tips were awesome & everyone enjoyed what they ordered as well as the wine we selected. The price wqas a bit high for lunch but in all it was a nice experience =)”

An average steakhouse, located in the Fanueil Hall marketplace. Started out with crab cakes and smoked salmon as appetizers. Solid, decent, no surprises. Steaks were prepared and cooked as ordered. No Flintstone-size pieces of meat, but well aged. Sides are extra, roughly $ 8-$ 10, each big enough to share between 3 – 4 people. Had cheesecakes and crème brûlée for desserts, again pretty average. My take? You guessed it, pretty average. I thought the prices were pretty high, even for a steak house. Big selling point of this place is the location: in the Fanueil Hall market place. Good place to walk around after dinner. Would I come here again? It’s OK, but I got think, why am at a steak house? I’m in Boston, where seafood is king?

Plaza III is an over priced tourist trap. The food is below average at best. I had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and they came in a pool of water and were mushy. The steak was ok… a little on the well done side for me and the potatoes tasted like instant mashed. If you want a steak dinner better off splurging on Ruth’s Chris or Grill 23. Atmosphere is dreary and drinks are overpriced.

This is place is extremely expensie but very good. If your a person who loves raw stuff, Their steak tar-tar is soooooo good. OMG i want some now. I always have the filet and sometimes I have to Oscar style. We only go when my bf’s parents come into town becuase they pick the tab. Its too expensive for two struggling students

I have only been here once for a lunch. It was in the summer so they had seating outside which was nice. Their lunch special was good and moderately priced. I got the fillet Mignon with Bearnaise sauce with mashed potatoes and it was really delicious. I looked at their regular menu and saw that it was a bit overpriced even for a steakhouse. Then inside is not that attractive, it’s actually very ugly and boring. I loved the steak though and I would go back for another lunch special again and have the same thing.

Very average steakhouse. Have been there twice now, and for the prices, it is nothing to brag about. With all the good steakjoints in Boston, this is not the place to go.

My experience at Plaza III was horrible. The generic atmosphere and steakhouse menu items are decent but obviously not differentiated. I think what really got to me was the service. I ordered my $ 32NY strip medium and I received it burned on the outside. I told my waiter and he said, «sometimes that happens» and walked away. I was in complete shock. First, he should have gotten a manager to resolve this. Second, if qualified employees were cooking in the kitchen, they should be able to cook a steak medium without burning it. Last, never disrespect the customer if the customer was not mutually disrespectful. Regardless of the service, there are plenty of better steakhouses in Boston and they will treat you better.

Definately call ahead and make reservations– not a large sized restaurant. The filet is pretty good, but not nearly as tasty as what the Capital Grille has to offer. The drinks are delicious, try the carmel applemartini.

This restaurant promises more that it gives. Steaks are average. Drinks are expensive. The best thing this place has is a nice area to eat outside and people watch. The location is great as well– right on the end of Fanueil Hall.
