I typically hate writing bad reviews, let negative experiences slide and take my business elsewhere… but NO not this time! Yesterday around lunch time I ordered a lunch special online to be delivered to my work. Everything was paid for, I even added the tip for the delivery guy PRIOR to him coming here. BIGMISTAKE! In the directions I wrote please come up to the 3rd floor and at the reception ask for me… easy right? 30 min later I get a phone call, «Hi I am here». So I say«Great, could you please leave my food at the reception?» he answers me, «No, come downstairs and get the food from me, it’s my first time here.» This is where I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry… so I told him that it’s not the point of delivery if I have to go and get the food myself. Mind you I am sitting in a meeting. So I tell him, that I am sorry but I can’t come downstairs. The guy says, «But please it’s my first time here» — freaking idiot! I just hung up on him. So after 5 minutes he dragged himself upstairs and left the food at the reception. I go to open my lunch — IT’S NOTEVENWHAT I ORDERED! LONGSTORYSHORT — STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE… IT’S BADFOOD, BADSERVICEANDOBVIOUSLY A BADEXPERIENCEOVERALL!

worst Chinese food in South* Boston… Straight disgusting. Been to 3 other places in Southie which will not be named and they are far superior. I ordered 40 $ worth of food last night. Ate a quarter of the lo mein and threw the rest out. Roommate didn’t even attempt it.

My go to place for late night snacking. The fried chicken wings and crab rangoons are pretty good. I’ve been to the other places in Southie and I think this is the best one.

I’m going to be honest this is my absolute FAVORITE late night Chinese spot in all of Boston. Lived in Boston for over 4 years before moving to SF not to long ago… I can’t wait to visit friends soon and hit up Nanning Wok late night. Few suggestions on what to order: 1. Crab rangoons(BOMB!!! CANT get enough of these) 2. Spicy szechuan chicken lo mein 3. Fried wontons 4. MORE crab rangoons I know I sound like a 300lb child, but this place is just the absolute best spot for late night post bar food — and maybe next morning cold chinese if you had a really aggressive night. Miss you guys at Nanning Wok! Let me know if you’re opening up a shop here in SF soon — I will be your 1st and BEST customer.

Ordered Beef Chow Mein from this restaurant, got something with Pork instead, and no noodles – unusual for a noodle dish. Called, was told I was wrong repeatedly. Never ordering here again.

I usually regret eating here the day after, but love it the moment i’m actually devouring it. Its your typical cheap greasy Chinese food, but the msg does wonder for the intoxicated palate. I try to eat under the«healthy options» and order the broccoli chicken on the menu but I’m pretty sure its not healthy at all. but then again, that’s the last thing on my mind when i’m inebriated. \ Overall, its fast and cheap and perfect for a late night meal. The service here is non-existent. You pick up and peace out. don’t forget the cash and an order of crab Rangoon!

Compared to the other Chinese food joints in Southie, this place isn’t bad. While Lee Chen’s is my favorite, they don’t have Chicken Chow Mein and this place does. I usually stick with the basics, and they usually do a pretty good job… Not the best I’ve ever had, but def not the worst and most certainly better than some of the other places on Broadway… Beef teriyaki, boneless spare ribs, crab Rangoon, and spring rolls: all pretty good Chicken Chow Mein: they have it, they actually give you crunchy noodles, and it’s pretty damn good! As for delivery times, if your not calling 20 mins before close on a Thurs-Sunday you should be fine(and by fine I mean quoted at 30 – 45 mins and getting it within that time period or faster). I must echo something another Unilocaler said: if your expectations are super high I recommend taking the 9 bus to Chinatown.

Awful. I would never order from here again. Also, they didn’t deliver any sauces. WTF! When I called to ask they sounded confused but said they would have the driver come back. Well, the driver never came back.

Wow people hate on this place??? The food isn’t the best but of the 3 Chinese Restaurants in a one block radius Nanning Wok is the way to go. I’ve never had any problems ordering from here(stick to the menu… no substitutions). Of course, I’ve also never gotten delivery from them(which seems to be the major complaint here on Unilocal). Pork fried rice is AOK and the Crab Rangoons are the superior appetizer should you get a combination plate. Lunch specials are reasonably priced and they are also open late so you can get your greasy food fix after a night of drinking. The bottom line is that this is AMERICANSTYLECHINESEFOODINSOUTHBOSTON… if you were expecting something more l recommend going to chinatown.

Nanning Wok is the Ike to my Tina. I last ordered from here at 11:30 on a Monday night and was quoted the standard«ok 30 minute». I ordered scallion pancakes(decent but soggy, probably my mistake for not adding«well done» as a special instruction) and the chicken with mushrooms. The portion of chicken was kind of on the small side, but it worked out because it was all dark meat, which I don’t like anyway. The heaping pile of pork fried rice might have made up for it, if only the little pork chunks weren’t so hard and the rice itself wasn’t lukewarm and bland. I hate myself for ordering from this place. I hate that I keep this abusive relationship alive by giving Nanning Wok chance after chance, and it just relentlessly beats up on my taste buds. If it’s early enough, Teriyaki House delivers and does a much better job of giving you recognizable meat and good portions of the dish you’re paying for, not just rice. le sigh.

This place is just terrible. The fried wontons are legitimately just fried wrappers, there’s no meat. The crab rangoon are just gross, the worst I’ve had. Scallion pancakes are decent, although the sauce that comes with them is gross. One star for food, one star for hours and quickness of delivery, even though I’ll never be going back.

Portions are small and the food just isn’t that good. Not many great options in the hood but this one is bottom of the list.

I’ve had better mall chinese food. Orange chicken — -well I don’t think there was any chicken in it — all breading and bad sauce. Appetizers were usual frozen stuff thrown in the frier. There’s no good chinese in the dorchester/southie. Have to go into the city or quincy.

After reading the other reviews we were a little hesitant to order from Nanning however their menu looked pretty extensive so we thought we’d give it a shot. Firstly, the order took about 35 mins to arrive, pretty good for most Chinese delivery I’ve had. The food was hot and there was plenty of it. We ordered beef and broccoli, kung pow chicken, and two side pan-fried noodles, with spring rolls to start. I thought the spring rolls were the best part of the meal. Everything seemed to have the same sauce, and took on the same pink-ish hue. The kung pow chicken was probably the best main dish because it had a nice spicy kick. Overall this was a decent meal but I think next time we are looking for Chinese delivery we’ll try something else.

I’ve had delivery from here about a half dozen times and it has always been quite good. I guess I’ve been lucky with the delivery not taking too long like others here have stated. As far many American-Chinese restaurants are considered, you get a large amount of food for not too large prices. Is it greasy? Of course, but not overly. It’s what you come to expect in mentioned restaurant form. The fried dumplings, General Gau’s chicken, crab rangoons and house lo mein are amongst my favorite items here. The hot and sour soup, not so much. Even though the dreadful Hong Kong Chef is one block from my apartment, I avoid it at all costs… disgusting! Luckily Nanning Wok is a delivery away and it always does the trick.

When you live in Southie(or anywhere else for that matter), there is always going to be very healthy competition for your late night drunken chinese food dollar. In my humble opinion, the most important factors when choosing a late night chinese food establishment are as follows: 1) Hours(how late are they open?) 2) Service of clientele(how drunk can you be and still get served?) … 3) Quickness(what are the chances that I will fall asleep between placement and receipt of order?) … … … 4) Quality(how badly will i feel tomorrow morning after having eaten this? and how well will it reheat tomorrow afternoon?) Using an elaborate scoring system based on the aforementioned list of priorities, I have determed that Nanning Wok is an exceptional choice for any and all drunken chinese food craving needs. In particular, I would recommend the crab rangoons and fried peking ravioli dumplings, both of which are offered in abundant quantities and at relatively reasonable price. I also appreciate the non-judgmental manner in which the staff conducts business. Folks there seem to realize that an anonymous stain on the front of clothing need not be discussed, and most front counter staff are multilingual and can interpret dialects ranging from common english sobriety to a hearty southie slur.

«fiiiiiiiiiiii-minute.» I might be a wonton soup snob, but I’m just dying to find it like I had back at home in New York– you know, the kind with lots of wontons and pork strips. The wonton soup I got here was probably the worst I’ve had in Boston. Why is there knotty-looking unidentified floating meat along with 2 wontons in this whole container? Ick. The crab rangoons were good, especially the crispy part, but the filling was hard to find! That was the best part and they really put the least amount possible. We also got potstickers(very doughy), and my roommate got #16 on the combo menu. Overall, I’d prefer to not order from then again, but when I’ve got the Asian flush from drinking too much box-wine and Budlite Limes this might have to do.
