Good food. Heinously Overpriced. Had some peanut noodles. $ 9 for a few bites worth. I’d be surprised if the ingredients came in at over 75 cents. If you want to spend $ 17 dollars for fried rice, then this might just be the spot. Pretty good fried rice.

As an Indonesian, I can only say that the nasi goreng doesn’t taste like Indonesian fried rice. The rice texture tasted like Korean bibimbap, but with way more pepper and spices. We can only tasted the pepper and nothing else.(1⁄5 for the fried rice) The tiger’s tears is okay at first but after halfway through, we can only taste the spiciness.(2⁄5) The pork buns are pretty good(4⁄5). The porks are flavorful and the buns are chewy. The ribs are okay(2.5÷5)

had we been here for dinner, this most likely would have been a five star review, but since i only was able to taste two things, i’m reserving that one star until i make my way back here, hopefully next year when i return to the boston area. my family and i arrived during the luncheon hour, which meant we could not order off the dinner menu. being a vegan, i was limited to the spring rolls and the market greens with fermented tofu, both of which were outstanding. if i could eat those greens daily, it would be nigh on impossible for me to ever be in a bad mood!

An interesting Asian fusion concept, but the food doesn’t really celebrate the Asian or Western flavors. Everything is just so SALTY that you don’t even notice the other flavors. It would make great beer food. This is one of those places my girlfriend likes to call«trendy spendy» because they try to hook you with their hip digs and fancy presentation but the food is just ok, nothing special.

Came here for dinner, and thought it was just a decent Asian Fusion place. Just some main takeaways: — A bit expensive for the small portions that it is worth — Since it is Asian Fusion, the food can be on the heavier side of things. Also their food menu options can be quite creative. It has a good blend of American and Chinese food mixed together. — The Asian food(ie: the bao) had a lot of «creative spices in there» — More food on the American side — Usually a line outside for dinner, so might be wise to make a reservation Maybe it is just my taste in food, but I just didn’t enjoy the food as much as other people have. I have heard so much hype and rave over Myers & Chang(so don’t think that Myers & Chang is not good), but it just really wasn’t my kind of food. I would recommend you to come here if Asian Fusion is one of your favorite types of food!

Honestly, I was not impressed by this place at all. We had been wanting to try this forever; we’re huge fans of Joanne Chang. However, we found the food mediocre at best; it was fusion, but not fusion in the way that Mei Mei and Bön Me are fusion. This was fusion that still attempted to be authentic, and in addition to that, was pretty expensive for dishes that should not have been that expensive to begin with. The food was not very flavorful and overly salted; we won’t be coming back in the future.

I came here with some co-workers with medium to high expectations just because there are so many«Asian fusion» restaurants popping up everywhere and I’m starting to see the same items on the menus so I know more or less if they’re doing it right. Apparently, the chef here is a product of a third place finish on America’s top chef or Hell’s Kitchen or Devils Diner or any one of those interchangeable shows you have on when you’ve got something more important to do but you just want some background noise. With blatant appropriation of culture and with all the guy fiery you can muster, comes this shwanky somewhat downtown, but sort-of out of the way, shell of a place that only serves small plates one after the other.. . One by one.. . Even if you all order at the same time… To be fair, they did warn us that this was what they were going to do but they also did say that these were«share plates» which implies that each item you order will be enough to share with the whole table. Am I wrong? I can tell you, and others in my party can testify, that this was most certainly not the case. The plates were small and not filling. On top of that they weren’t better than any other«Asian fusion» cuisine I’ve had as of late. My fish tacos were on some very rough tortillas and they didn’t use enough toppings/ingredients. Adding insult to injury, the menu said the tacos came with a sesame salad but said salad was never brought out to me. When I asked where the salad was they said it was«on the tacos.» Motherfuckers. At the end of the meal they handed us pink slips(as if we were fired from dinner) to ask for our feedback. This is probably so that you won’t write a Unilocal review. Unfortunately for them, I did both(see photos). p. s. it says i checked in twice. this was just a mistake that cannot be fixed. only came once.

This place is DABOMB! Everything I ordered on the menu was delicious but I was particularly a fan of the cold Dan Dan noodles. The cocktails are extremely tasty as well. Prices are pretty good for the quality of the food. Highly recommended and I can’t wait to go again!

Over a hour and a half for food. No thanks, never again. Told 45 minutes which is quite absurd to begin with, just means that the place is too cheap to hire enough cooks. Also a place like this most likely has a slave driving manager that treats the employees like crap. I really can’t support a place like this.

Asian Fusion done right! We ordered 5 dishes for two people and it was way too much food. I really enoyed the dan dan noodles and nasi goreng. Would come back to try their desserts and cocktails.

I started with the Pineapple Ginger soda = delicious! 8.5÷10, easy. The bartender was very gracious and topped me off since our table wasn’t ready on time. The lamb ribs were pretty awesome. We gave them a 7.5÷10, mainly because of the protein to fat ratio, the bite of bitterness in the after taste and the low value for the price(5 short ribs for $ 17). The glaze was pretty tasty! The second course was the Indonesian Fried Rice with shrimp and pork. We loved the spicy flavor, probably Sriracha sauce, and the fried egg on top. Still, the dish tasted disjointed, like a bunch of different ingredients that lacked harmony. As such, we rated 7.7÷10. Much better value than the short ribs, though. Finally, we enjoyed the Affrogato as the third course. Eh. My guest and I averaged a score of 7.5÷10. We loved the concept and the presentation, but something was missing… Maybe the ratio of cake to mousse to ice cream to brittle was off. The coffee flavor was also a bit overpowering for me, but that may characteristic of the dish. It was evident, however, that this restaurants uses high quality ingredients and takes pride in their menu. Overall score: 7.5÷10. Strengths: Trendy menu, diverse offerings, adventurous, lively atmosphere, good service(slow, but friendly) Weaknesses: Lack of punctuality, climate(freezing), flavor cohesion and value.

Excellent restaurant, one of the better ones I’ve been to so far in Boston. I recommend: –Green papaya slaw: Just spicy enough, very good –Spicy tuna poke: Not actually very spicy, really great tuna. A big heavy on the ‘birdseed,’ could have done with less of that, but really good –Edamame, mustard greens, and wasabi potstickers: Really good and way spicier than I expected –Red miso-glazed carrots: Fantastic, really really great dish worth trying –Wok-charred octopus & grilled corn: Very good, but actually not the standout dish although it was talked up quite a bit by our waitress. Nothing wrong with it, maybe our expectations were too high, but would probably try the salmon instead next time.

Reservation for 2pm this time! Seated immediately. Service was good and we tried new things! Hakka Eggplant– oh my god, so darn good. I love eggplant and this was definitely my favorite dishes. It’s soft and delicious! Tea-Smoked Pork Spare Ribs– literally the worst ribs I’ve ever had. Highly rated but maybe we got a bad batch? Dry like the desert. Kimchee Quinoa Bokkeumbap– Yum! This was light and full of veggies, good to eat with the eggplant. The bits of bulgoki beef were sparse but overall the dish was pretty good. Fried Egg Banh Mi with soy glazed bacon– Star of the show yet again. Way too delicious. Now that I know exactly what to order I am happy to come back :). Still a little pricey for portion size but there are def some dishes worth getting!

My daughter is moving from Boston to San Francisco and, for a final Boston meal, we went to Myers and Chang. What a delight! We selected a variety of dishes to share and loved them. The Pork Belly Buns were spectacular, The sugar snap pea salad was both refreshing and delicious, with a green goddess-Ike dressing. The don don noodles were warmingly spicy and rich. The staff was knowledgable and enthusiastic about their food. They made us feel special. This is a place not to be missed!

Myers and Chang is a trendy Asian restaurant owned by famous sticky bun chef Joanne Chang and her husband. The décor tries really hard to be authentically Asian from old Chinese calligraphy paintings, to using Chinese newspapers as placemats, to using Chinese tea canisters as utensil holders. This in combination with a staff all non-Asian wait and kitchen staff made me feel eerily awkward as an Asian– American eating at this restaurant. The waitress described the Asian foods to us as if we(4 Asian-Americans of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean descent) had never eaten Asian food before. The atmosphere seemed to display being Asian as a trendy fad versus being representative of someone’s identity, family, and cultural background. Putting my personal social commentary aside, let’s get to the eating: Tea smoked pork spare ribs– comes with 4 generous, falls off the bone pieces to share. The ribs have a strong smoky taste. Delicious! Braised pick belly buns: solid tasty bun. Hoisin sauce was more on the salty versus sweet side. Hot Szechuan Dan Dan Noodles — get ready for some heat with this dish! Liked the heat but did not like how salty it was. Beef broccoli chow fun– too salty. I was wishing I had a side of white rice at this point. Jonah Crab + Green Fried Rice — great way to cool down my taste buds after eating the noodles. This has a strong ginger taste, so make sure you like ginger if you order this dish. The winner of the night was the tea smoked pork spare ribs. Unfortunately, the dishes felt a little salty overall making it hard to finish everything. Hostess was friendly but our waitress seemed like she was having a bad night– we rarely got a smile out of her.

My friend and I went here again after nearly a year and were even more impressed this time around. Literally every dish that we sampled was delicious and a unique fusion creation. This is definitely a spot worth checking out if you are in the Boston area or looking to impress your friends. It is all tapas style, but it is priced pretty well and won’t leave a hole in your wallet – while also pleasing your palette. That’s a win-win in my(pocket)book!

Oh, those pork belly buns. They are everything. This place is the complete package in concept, décor, service, innovation, and execution of their menu. The only downside is there isn’t a full bar, but they do mix a mean cucumber lemonade. I am always excited when I visit Boston at the prospect of a Myers & Chang meal. Plus, Flour desserts– drool.

Mmmmm, been wanting to go to this place for a minute now, as I have been going to Flour for some time. Finally sucked it up and stopped eating proper chinese and thai food, and made a reservation here with the general notion that asian fusion never tastes quite as good as the real thing. Dishes are on the smaller portion side or I just eat too much either way this is what I ordered: Pork dumplings Bok choy Fried chicken and waffles surf and turf black pepper noodles Pork belly baos 2 extra steamed baos *** first off there is no spice at this restaurant what so ever, we ordered two dishes with two spice levels, and being someone who has the worst spice tolerance amongst all my friends I couldn’t detect one bit of heat in any of the food here. Baooo here is mad lit, soooo sweet and the perfect density, but the pork belly left me lacking. Big piece of pork belly just very overcooked and dry. Can’t knock the bao here tho. Ordered two extras they were that good. if you could take this bao and stuff it with the charsiu from eldo cake house, creating little charsiu bao tacos –Yes now that’d be a dish. Pork dumplings are easily the best pan fried dumplings in Boston, No idea why they can’t get this right in boston, but myers and chang gets it. Great pork filling flavor, great ratio of wrapper to meat ratio. only thing that was missing was they could have been crispier despite how nicely fried they look in photos/in person. Overall though no fusion here, just expensive but very damn good dumplings. just authentic tasty dumplings here Bok choy — amazing char flavor, but that’s about it. Chicken and waffles — if you’ve had wingstop soy wings you know that the skin and flavor of this fried chicken will remind you exactly of that. nicely crisppy on the wings and drumstick pieces, but whyyyy whyyy are you going to give me fried chicken breast? Breast piece was mad dry and of course i really just want more skin. the more crispy skin the better. Waffles were very good, and they had a nice honey butter that we had to ask for more of. surf turf noodles– these were okay, could tell that it was a play on panda express’ black pepper chicken dish, but with steak and shrimp. Ordered two extra steamed baos and stuffed some of this inside– that’s definitely a move. End of the story though, asian fusion always just makes me think of the real thing despite how good it is. stick to your roots, you can never beat a pair of OG’s

Amazing vegetarian options, but long wait even with a reservation. I came here with two friends on Sunday and we ordered: sweet and sour Brussel sprouts, bok choy, carrots, tofu buns, wasabi dumplings, tea, and sweet potato chips. The vegetables were so flavorful and delicious. I loved all of them and would highly recommend. The bun was good but I’ve had better vegetable buns at Ippudo ramen in New York. We had a reservation for 1 on a Saturday and came at 12:50. The host said she was setting up our table, but we weren’t seated until 1:20, which was annoying. I wish she hadn’t said they were setting up the table since they didn’t have a table ready. Overall, I’ve never had such great vegetarian options at any Asian food place. I highly recommend it! Make sure your reservation is a little before you’re starving in case you have to wait.

Loved the variety of dim sum style dishes offered here, and they were able to accommodate my friend’s allergy to shell fish by making modifications to the dishes we ordered so that can he eat them. Edamame Wasabi Potstickers — pan fried to a nice crisp on one side, and there was a nice kick from the wasabi. Hakka Eggplant(Vegan Style) — eggplant was cooked well, making it soft without being mushy, and was tossed in a sauce that make the dish quite savory and delicious. The Green Monster — a vegan salad made with pistachio lemongrass pesto, all the green things, wheatberries. Loved this dish as the wheatberries were cooked to a nice al dente, a little chewy and firm. Light and delicious. Crispy Spring Rolls — a vegan dish that was made with swiss chard, glass noodles, quince duck sauce. Crispy, not too greasy. Didn’t take advantage much of the sauce, as the spring rolls themselves were tasty on its own from the well seasoned Swiss chard and glass noodles. Szechuan Dan Dan Noodles made with pork, pickled mustard greens, hot bean paste. An unusual take dan dan noodles. Servers were friendly and very attentive. Place is very lively, even at 3pm on a Saturday(we dined during the last weekend of March). Prices are a little high, but some of the dishes worthy as they were delicious. Would visit again the next time I visit Boston.

LOVE M&C! Had an incredibly good early dinner this past Sunday. The dishes are tapas style and they will hit the table as they are cooked. Highly recommend everything we ate– Pork Belly Buns, Nasi Goreng fried rice(too spicy for me, so be aware) Lamb ribs, Sloppy Joe & Pork and Chive Dumplings. this place has a great ambiance and service. Everyone is super excited to see you there and every single employee will welcome you to the restaurant. I HIGHLY recommend Myers and Chang. Give them a try and some well deserve love.

I don’t say this lightly when I say that this is one of my top 3 restaurants in Boston. Only rivaled by Toro and Uni. Weekend dim sum will knock your socks off. The service is extremely friendly, knowledge and even when they’re super busy they are fast. The must order items: Nasi Goreng-pork and pineapple with fried egg rice. Ridiculous. Hakka eggplant– my fave on the menu Brussels sprouts– they’re sweet and sour deelish Baos– all of them are great. Even the tofu one. Congee– if you like this rice porridge then you will love theirs. Down sides: The dumplings and the crispy rolls are just okay. I’ve had better. Their cocktails are small and they tried to be creative but they fall mind of flat. The reasons I give them 5 stars. They place is super cool, great vibe, fun service and really creative menu. There is no other spot like Myers & Chang in Boston. If you’re lucky, you’ll see Chef Karen who competed in Top Chef kicking ass in the kitchen.

After hearing/reading rave reviews from friends and fellow Unilocalers, I went into Myers & Chang with high hopes and expectations of insanely delicious and innovative Asian food. What I got, however, was none of the above. While I wouldn’t call my meal here a disaster or inedible, most of what I ordered and ate felt and tasted like something I could have found at one of the hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Chinatown for half the price and double the portion size. Of all of the things my bf and I ordered(pork belly buns, tamarind scallops, wild mushroom lo mein, fried chicken and ginger waffles, to name a few) none of it was particularly memorable or made us want to come back for more. For what it’s worth, the scallops and the fried chicken were perfectly cooked. Can’t say much else on the rest of my dinner though.

We were luckily able to reserve a table on Sunday, despite how busy it is. The«dim sum» is more like Pan Asian small plates, made to order, instead of a more familiar dim sum with carts and all. Only a couple items on the menu resembled what you would usually get a dim sum, like congee. Moving on from the nitpicking: Szechuan Dan Dan noodles are a must order. Medium plus spiciness and numbing, well cook noodles. Pork Belly Buns I would pass on at $ 5 per bun. Order appropriately unless you plan on cutting up that small bun. Still with a good balance of vinegar, sweet, salty, and umami with the marinade. Potstickers I would also pass on. The texture of the wrapping reminds me of frozen style instead of a chewy, doughier mouthfeel and bite. Greens with fermented tofu is exactly how my grandma would serve Chinese vegetables. Leafy and crunchy greens with a slight saltiness and«twang» from the tofu. Highly recommended as something new to try with your vegetables. Tea smoked ribs come with two medium sized ribs. A deeply aromatic spiced dry rub on them that makes you even want to gnaw on the bones just to get the rub flavor from them. With plates ranging around $ 6 – 8, sharing 5 – 6 plates, you’re looking at least $ 20 per person. A fun way to experience a range of well executed Asian food.

I finally got this place after hearing about it forever. It was hip, cool and tasty but some things surprised me. Called a week in advance for a Friday night spot for four. Day of I received a confirmation call and called back to say«yes». Everyone says«it’s in the South End»…but barely. It’s diagonally across the street from Mings(now New York Mart). The place was dark but funky in a good way. The open kitchen set-up was fun for my boys to watch the chefs cook and produce large flames. The staff was friendly and attentive and we had service from like 5 different servers. Kind of confusing. The food comes out whenever it’s ready which I found really fun. The food was tasty! The pork belly bao was as good as I read about. I really enjoyed the Mings greens because it was flavorful and hit the spot. The chili spiced prawn were SPICY and really tasty. I will be back but think I’ll try the lunch menu next

I’ve dined at Myers & Chang a few times now and really enjoy this restaurant. Great food and a modern atmosphere featuring my personal favorite, the open kitchen! I love to watch the busy chefs as they quickly wok fry and grill your meal! Tried many items on the menu but the stand outs are Nasi Goreng(Indonesian Fried Rice) Pork & Chive dumplings, Smashed Potatoes, Wild Mushroom Lo Mein and Beef Broccoli Rabe Cow Fun. If you like spicy don’t hesitate to ask them to kick up the heat on any dish as they will gladly oblige. Overall a great spot with delicious food. I still need to get here for the dim sum brunch…

Very average Asian fusion. I was pretty excited based on the high reviews and we’ve passed this place over and over again going to the dog park so finally decided to go for date night. Wasn’t very impressed by anything — the food was decent but for the price we were paying there are countless other places we would have preferred to be(most similar but with better taste: Shojo). When you also consider the suboptimal location(depending on what you want to do or where you want to go afterwards) I would give this somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. Did I mention that you should go to Shojo instead? The only potential benefit of M+C is that there is a patio but a) it is tiny, b) it is Boston where it is cold 8 months out the year basically and c) your«view» is a baseball field and a dog park so…

Super cute new restaurant in Boston serving solid Asian Fusion dishes. The restaurant isn’t very big, so reservations are highly recommended. My coworker and I decided to change restaurants the day of, and the only reservations left at Myers & Chang were for 9pm and later. We decided to try and come earlier in case something opened up, but no such luck– we were stuck waiting for a good long while at the tiny standing bar area. At least we were able to order drinks. When we were finally sat(at the cool counter area where you can watch the chefs cook), we tried: –Cold Taiwanese Dan Dan Noodles(Fresh Peanut, Chili Sambal, $ 8, ): Yum– this was a solid version of dan dan noodles– recommended! –Mama Chang’s Pork + Chive Dumpling($ 11): Just ok for me, and I didn’t think this was anything special. Skip! –Hakka Eggplant($ 9, ): So freaking delicious, and a must order for any eggplant lover! The skin was crispy, and the sauce was perfect. –Braised Pork Belly Buns(Bao, Brandy Hoisin, House Pickle, $ 9, ): Disappointing– the bun was nice and soft, but there wasn’t enough filling for the bun. The braised pork belly was just ok– skip! –Fried Chicken + Ginger Waffles(Surprising Sauce, Sesame Honey Butter, $ 21, ): The fried chicken was good, but the ginger waffle was just weird. I really liked the surprising sauce and sesame honey butter though, and would order this dish again if they replaced the flavor of the waffle. –Stuffed Rainbow Trout w/Coconut Rice(Tomato Ginger Jam, Penang Spice, $ 19, ): Yum– I was happily surprised by how good this dish was. The trout was cooked very well, and the coconut rice stuffed inside gave it a great aroma– recommended! –Dragon Sauce($ 1): Definitely dragon-y(spicy), which I appreciated! I eat pretty spicy, and this made me sweat a bit. A must order for those who like spice, but this sauce is not for the faint of heart! –Giardinera Kimchee($ 3): Too strange for me– I like giardinera, and I like kimchee, but the combination was way too vinegary/tart. I would have preferred normal kimchee instead. –Bittersweet Chocolate Terrine(Chocolate Douhua, Spicy Sesame Walnuts, $ 8, ): Disappointing, and totally not what I expected. The terrine had a strange consistency, and I didn’t like the combination of ingredients– skip! We ordered way too much food for two people, but we actually managed to finish a good amount of the dishes since the majority were so delicious! My biggest complaint about dining here would be with the service– we felt totally judged by our server, who tried to talk us out of ordering so many dishes since it would be «a lot of food for 2 people». I’m not one to care if someone thinks I’m a fat-ass, but it’s just annoying to be judged on how much food I’m ordering. Other than that, we had a great meal here and hope to be back to try other dishes! Parking isn’t easy, but we lucked out and found street parking a couple blocks away.
