Kryolan City Boston

I love Kryolan and used them throughout my theater years. For Halloween I stopped in and my heart skipped a beat when I got a pre-​packaged sugar skull kit (Dia de los Muertos). I couldn’t wait for Halloween. I’ve used this stuff before. Something was really off with this kit. I know photos can be deceiving but we’re talking professional makeup, shouldn’t the photo representing the final look be somewhat close? This kit advertised a turquoise and violet-​blue shade and a 3^rd Aqua color in black. The technique of layering the clown white and then the two successive shades on top to create a tonal effect was disastrous– crackly and lumpy. My skin was clean and primed. It’s just the nature of the aqua color especially when layered. The colors in the discs had a very gritty texture so it was unavoidable. The two awesome in shape brushes would not come clean at all with either soap and water nor brush cleaner. Lastly the body jewels supplied didn’t stay put despite their gluey backing or with the help of glitter gel.
Only after looking at the receipt and seeing no returns or exchanges are accepted I am disappointed because that’s not mentioned before buying (feels like a kiosk gimmick not something from an international brand) but it’s the opposite of what the website says. 85 $ in makeup I’ll never use. Ouch

I was beyond thrilled to learn that Kryolan was opening a store in Boston and this one does not disappoint! As a professional makeup artist, this store has everything I need and even for those not in the business who are just looking for a new makeup to try, this is place to go! The store owner D’Borah is extremely knowledgeable about the products, right down to the science behind it. She (along with her staff), never pressures you to buy things you’ll never use, and doesn’t have that typical «over bearing sales persona» most cosmetic companies tend to have. The prices are BEYOND reasonable (especially for being a high end company), so I recommend stopping by and checking then out! Thank you Kryolan for finally coming to Boston!!!

I am so happy to see Kryolan in Boston. Being a professional make up/​face & body artist I am always in need of a last minutes something… Great location, beautiful store, very friendlly and nice sales help…

I loooove Kryolan products and have usually purchased their cosmetics via
, but I’m not too happy about their lack of a ‘satisfaction guaranteed’ policy at their physical store location. Most places, including MAC, Sephora and even CVS will allow you to return or exchange a cosmetics product if you aren’t completely satisfied– especially when the lighting in the store isn’t the same as natural light.
I checked their policy online (which does outline an exchange policy) and attempted to exchange a palette for one that has a better matching/​more complementing color range, but they wouldn’t let me. Perhaps, they need to make sure they tell their customers that there is no satisfaction guarantee. I walked out pissed and doubt I’ll be back to here. :-/

STAFF: Kryolan makeup is 3^rd generation family owned,
and the staff was highly educated about their products.
Definitely stop by their Back Bay Boston, and ask questions
of their sales staff and make-​up artist, as they have a
wide variety of cosmetics for an array of applications.
THE DEAL: All pigments are made from natural sources,
whenever possible, and their makeup is «food grade quality.»
So, some *say* their products are «good enough to eat.»
Most Kryolan body paint actually *is* safe for skin absorption.
In addition, a majority of their make-​up is MADE IN THE USA!
