This place is a dump. The owner, Milton used to be there a lot. Now he is never there. The place used to be clean. The employees used to be helpful. Now they don’t even want to ring your purchase up like they couldn’t be bothered with anything so menial. Yes, the prices are high. It is a convenient store. The wine is over priced, but it is convenient. Now, hygiene is a very important issue with me. I’m an American, and I shower everyday. Sometimes twice. I could probably take shorter showers perhaps. My point, why is that when I walk into this place it smells like I walked into a locker room? I have to breathe through my mouth when I walk in. Even the woman smell here. I’m just trying to be blatantly honest. Shower!!! This is a place of business. If I have to be uncomfortable with the cleanliness of the place and the employees, then I can’t be comfortable giving them my business.

Being from New York the corner store is something most take for granted, but in Boston it’s almost a myth. Something you rarely see and if you do it’s done poorly. Jimmy’s is the exception!!! It’s the perfect blend of neighborhood and ethnic blend. Something not clean or perfect, but that meets every need you could possibly have. It makes my southie home perfect.

Good local shop for your beer wine and tobacco needs. They have a great beer selection for the area, and even sell my favorite beer(Mayflower IPA)! I’m not really a wine drinker, so I can’t really comment on their wine selection, but I have taken advantage of their small selection of quality cigars. The place could use a little renovation work, but I was very happy to see that they are no longer allowing dogs in the store, which had brought in a distinct wet dog odor in the past, so they are headed in the right direction.

I should have a tab at this place. Close, convenient and well stocked. Open even in blizzards.

The annoyance I have with Jimmy’s really isn’t anyone’s fault but my own. They have a pretty big wine selection, an average beer selection, and a good liquor selection. As Jen mentioned, they also have a VERY interesting assortment of groceries. Not always the ones I’d expect from a convenience store, but sometimes it’s nice to grab a random log of goat cheese(?) with your big girl bottle of Yellowtail. My main complaint is the pricing. It is consistently $ 3−5+ pricier than any other liquor store in Southie. But seeing as it’s my own absolute laziness that drives me to coming here, is that their fault or mine? It’s pretty much the only liquor store on this side of Southie, and it’s always busy, so the prices obviously aren’t deterring anyone else. And if I really wanted to save myself the few bucks, I’d be walking my lazy butt up Broadway to Dorgan’s, ensuring both a lighter backside and a heavier wallet. Which I’m not. So I’ll shut it.

I love these little neighborhood corner shops! Very friendly, local owned. I went there looking for something very specific and they had it — what more can you ask for. Probably not the cheapest place to buy groceries, but it beats a trip to stop & shop if you only need one thing.

More than your average liquor store. This place had groceries… in addition to liquor. Nothing more amusing than looking up at an expensive bottle of booze, and right below it finding a giant can of SPAM. Seriously, I think I’m giving them a star just for the amusement factor. They have lots of brands of alcohol, some that can be rare to find, as well as a large wine selection. If you’re in Southie this is a perfect liquor store for you. If you’re not in Southie but looking for something specific… give Jimmy’s a call — they miiiiiight just have what you’re looking for. and if not… you can always walk away with SPAM.

Woo hoo! First review! I like this place, perhaps because it is close, but mostly because the people who work here are very nice. I recently went over on a dog walk and tied the boys to the bench outside. The guy behind the register gave me a big dog cookie and said next time I’m welcome to bring them in. So, now I go there during dog walks all the time! They have a good selection of wine and reasonable prices.
