Boiled fresh shrimp: a standard dish, executed well 22 $/lb Doumiao: my standard vegetable order, also executed well 15 $ Yimian: huge amount of rather bland noodles. Complaining brought us it seasoned a little better, but it was still dull dull dull 7 $ Dungeness crab: soooo good. A super big crab! 40 $ Scallop: good, served with some vermicelli and a lot of garlic 6 $/ea Free bowl of dessert soup, which was nice! Service was very friendly and attentive, way more than standard, especially at a Chinatown restaurant. Lots of plate replacements etc.

Right in the heart of Bostons Chinatown, this restaurant makes the best steamed twin lobster. Flavors are fresh and isnt overpowered by other spices. Their mandarin spareribs are one of the best of the best. A perfect combination of sweet and salty; more sweet of course. The spareribs isnt overly fried, and still has the crispy bite to it. They use nice and thick slabs of spareribs, so plenty of meat in each bite. Came here for dinner on a Saturday late night, and the place was still popular. A must try!

This used to be my go to place in chinatown. The food is delicious and the prices are pretty great. But the service has progressively gotten worse over the last year, to the point where the host sat a couple before us who arrived 10 minutes after us, and they did not have a reservation either. Once we were finally sat we were blatantly ignored in favor of another table. There are so many restaurants in chinatown that are just as delicious, I won’t be wasting my money at a restaurant that clearly doesn’t want my business.

Was not impressed and will do other places in Chinatown next time. Meat was extra fatty. The orange chicken for the kids was so overlooked. My daughter had a hard time chewing it. The soup was good. With so many selections. Just keep walking.

One of the better chinese restaurants in boston. The night shift is better than the day shift, they make a really good beef chow foon(dry). My family loves to go here, their seafood dishes are pretty solid, and their vegetables are pretty fresh. Their salt and pepper pork chops are pretty solid, still not as good as vinh sun but it’s a good alternative. It’s a pretty big restaurant, it’s definately not the place to go for American chinese food.

I think it’s kind of difficult to find good Chinese food in Boston(but maybe I’m not looking in the right places?). We came to Jade Garden on recommendation. It’s a little unnerving — all the crustaceans and fish kind of sadly swimming in tanks right by the entrance(they all look so melancholy, I just want to free them… possible reasons why we didn’t order seafood). We got the spring rolls, crab rangoon, General Gao’s Chicken, and the Beef Lo Mein. I don’t think there was any crab in the crab rangoon, but the shell was very light, airy, and crispy. The spring rolls were unremarkable, but I always enjoy spring rolls(). The General Gao’s Chicken was my favorite — it was saucy, and tender, and very yummy. The lo mein was pretty good — thinner noodles than I’m used to, but tasty. All in all, it was a good meal, but it doesn’t beat the Chinese food from my hometown. I’ll just have to keep searching for the best place in Boston.

Awesome customer services!!! Feels like home! Make sure you try the herbal chicken hotpot soup. Amazing balls! Probably the best authentic place for some real Chinese food. Not no orange chicken and crab Rangoon y’all. The real deal!

Just terrible service and terrible food. The descriptions can be so vague and they give you attitude whenever you ask them a question. Never coming back here again.

For old timers such as myself, Jade Garden is the go-to place in Boston for a quintessential Cantonese sit-down dinner. Their outstanding value, the care and consistency of the food preparation all add up to a Chinatown gem. Luncheon specials are just as good and give great value($ 4.50). Traditional Cantonese standbys such as ribs with black bean sauce, ginger-scallion lobster and even vermicelli with pork are authentic as you can get. There’s great irony here. If you were born before 1960, you may remember the same location housed the venerable Bob Lee’s Islander — one of the original kitchy«Polynesian» tourist destinations in Boston. Service is very good. Be sure to get there on off-days or off-hours. You can tell how good the place is: almost all the diners are Chinese!

Extremely long wait time. I asked over the phone if I can make a reservation and they said no. But apparently when I come here and during those 40 minutes we waited there were people just walked in because they had a reservation. The waiting area was horrible. Did you have some nice dishes. I love their crap. The frog was also delicious. I don’t remember if we ordered lobster. It is pretty noisy and crowded inside. Located in the edge of Chinatown. Parking can be kind of disaster.

Came here around 8pm on a Sunday and ordered 8 dishes. Beef congee — was delicious and big enough for a table of 8 to each get one bowl Crab yeemee — was not good. The crab tasted old and I would not recommend it Chicken wings– were huge and delicious All the other options were okay but nothing crazy.

Cheapish overall with fast service and clean plates. We were seated right away on a sunday night. Egg drop soup — above average with chunks of egg and mushroom Hot and sour soup — warm, not hot. A bit disappointing since it was average and only warm. Fried rice roast pork — for $ 7, you get a ton of rice! Beef and broccoli — overall tasted authentic and the sauce was not starchy. Overall, I’ll come back and with more people to share dishes.

$ 4.50 takeout lunch review: Nom nom nom I like the inexpensive Chinese lunches and Jade garden is no exception. Inexpensive and tasty, Jade Garden food is not the most amazing. It won’t dazzle you or leave you wanting more, but with enough food for 2 people at $ 4.50 it is worth a try. Overall, Fast decent Chinese food at a great price.

Came here for lunch. $ 4.50 soup and entrée. The service was terrible and the food took a while to come out after ordering. The food itself is okay. It fills you up if you are hungry but taste-wise, it is so so. For $ 4.50, you really can’t complain though. I got the sesame chicken and rice. It came with broccoli. The chicken was good. It was sweet yet a little tangy. Basically taste like the general gao’s chicken here except it isn’t spicy.

The dishes are decent, the service is quick and the food was OK. The best tasting dish was the lobster. Everything else was just OK. That Peking duck was served with tortillas! I don’t care what they called it. Was supposed to be pancakes. I say they’re tortillas! That part was a little disappointing. Otherwise the duck itself was good with the crispy skin and shrimp chips around it. We had lobster or was it crab soup to start. It was not very flavorful, for I had supplemented it with soy sauce. There were other dishes that were OK. I just wanted to highlight the best parts of the meal. But oh! The service and the speed with which out food came was fast! On top of that, the price was pretty good. ‘Twas bracing mahself for a larger check that I got and was pleasantly surprised in the end.

The food is pretty good here. They have a good lunch menu and offer a diverse dinner menu. Service is decent. We came here for dinner and really enjoyed our meal and experience. I would say better than your typical restaurant in Chinatown. Give it a try.

Cheap and easy. I found nothing special about this place beyond the price but the price is quite special — where else can you get this much food for $ 4.50 per person(lunch plate)? The food was actually surprisingly good and for $ 4.50 you get some of their hot & sour soup and a plate full of a lot of food(different menu options on lunch special). No you don’t get amazing service, you don’t get water unless you ask, you may not even get your own table(may have to share a table of its busy) but at $ 4.50 can you really ask for all that AND edible food? Not sure. There were two of us and we ordered three dishes but it was so much food that we couldn’t finish(we are NOT light eaters btw) so we took the rest home for dinner. That’s value.

Went here a couple days ago in honor of a friend’s birthday and we couldn’t have asked for better customer service. A few people in our party had their hearts set on fresh king crab but it wasn’t in season so no Chinatown restaurants had them hanging out in the tanks. After calling all over the place, Jade Garden set out to personally buy the king crab so they can prepare it for our dinner that night. We couldn’t be happier and they served it 3 ways: Salt and pepper style, steamed with garlic and scallions and crab fried rice. So awesome! Other notable mentions: Shrimp sashimi — I would eat buckets and buckets of these if I could. So tasty and fresh. Herbal chicken soup — Very nice to have on a colder day and the herbal properties in the soup is guaranteed to fortify. Only ding on the soup was that the top was a little oily but as long as you scoop it out before drinking it, you should be okay. Sea Conch with Chives, Lobster with Ginger & Scallions, Fried Tofu with Shrimp and Sea Bass with black bean sauce — Prepared and flavored exactly as you imagine it should be as these are pretty typical standard Cantonese dishes. Loved it and we will be back…
