Gster has been trying to get me to come here for a long time. Hillstone is one of his favorite after work spots. We got there and sat at the side tables by the bar, which are cozy, and only enough room for one person on each booth. The atmosphere is classy, dark, sultry, with some fabulous art at the end of the bar. One thing that stood out to me was the lighting. They had what looked like stage spotlights on basically every place a person would be sitting, which was the most unique lighting I have seen in a restaurant. Hillstone has an amazing cocktail menu, which I got a dark n stormy and it’s one of the top three I have ever had. Now, Hillstone’s menu has absolutely nothing on it that I like. I could try to like something, but it would be a waste of money. Is this surprising? Not really, since I am a very picky eater. However, the best part about Hillstone is their secret menu. While they have a couple things on their secret menu, the chicken fingers are amazing. They are one-of-a kind. I have never had chicken fingers like them. Very fresh, homemade, flaky. What I wasn’t expecting was that the fries were also one-of-a kind… they were the thin, very small fries similar to the chips Potato Stix. Overall, the atmosphere is enticing and comfortable, the cocktail options are delicious, and the secret menu is all where it is at.

Woohoo! As good as it gets!
Used to be Houstons for many years. It still has that awkward dining room/bar floor flow. This is a small chain — about ten stores. I’ve dined at the Santa Monica, Coral Gables and in Manhattan at the location on 53rd in Midtown. The food is very good — the menus basically mimic one another — with a few regional offerings(and some fancy rebranding) thrown into the mix. The service was excellent — our server really knows the entire menu and educated us on which direction each of us individually should travel. The adult beverages were good. Standard presentations(there was one error when a Perfect Manhattan was made only with Sweet Vermouth and garnished with a cherry and not a twist.). Nothing exciting, but there are times, especially with beverages you really do not want to be the test lab animal. I had the seared Ahi Tuna. Very good choice. We ton did not do dessert — lots of indulgent offerings. My penchant for French European dining came through as I really would have enjoyed a fromage course with maybe a Sauternes. A very good take, not for the budget conscious folks who are looking for more of the casual dining set which is prevalent in Faneuil Hall Marketplace. This restaurant stands at the head of the plaza just behind Faneuil Hall and the ArtsBoston kiosk.

Fabulous! Went out for lunch with the wife. Everything was amazing, the atmosphere, the food and the service! We had spicy tuna sushi which was divine! Probably the best I’ve had in a while. The thai noodle salad, had the perfect mix of sweet and savory, and the crispy noodles just made it perfect. I had the buttermilk chicken, which was HUGE and flavorful. This is absolutely my favorite new place! Will be back.

A+ presentation, excellent service, food is delicious. I ordered the fish of the day, which was seared cod. Fresh and perfect. Large booths(no tables)

The food is usually very good. The service is usually pretty bad. Tonight was no exception. I had tuna and it couldn’t have been fresher, cooked more carefully or seasoned more wonderfully. The service was probably worse than usual and made me question if this place is really worth it. It’s like the staff has had no training whatsoever. They’re never there when you want them. When the do show up its like they don’t know what to do. They simply can not get it right. Forgotten drinks. No follow-up and they seem to have this strange model where everyone is your waiter and no one is responsible.

The best part of my meal was the sushi which was kind of a surprise when you’re going to a steakhouse. I got the ribs and they were good, not amazing. The food took a long time to come out and the server wasn’t really that attentive. I also think it’s odd that you have to pay for bread for the table, at a nice place bread seems like a given.

Another flawless team lunch with impeccable service and wonderful food. This is one of my favorite spots for lunch downtown as it’s conveniently located, you can make reservations and get in and out in under and hour and a half. The service, as always was very friendly, warm, quick and attentive to boot. We started with the artichoke and spinach dip which was creamy and packed with chunks of artichoke and spinach accompanied by salsa, guac and plenty of chips which our waitress offered to bring more of. For mains, I’ve tried their Thai salad with either steak or chicken which is simply delicious – stellar flavor combinations and that perfect Thai flavor fusion of spicy, sweet and sour all at the same time. My favorite main is by far the seared ahi tuna, grilled just a touch and drizzled in a savory-slightly sweet sauce. It comes with a generous side of mixed greens in a zesty dressing topped with fresh mango that brightens the whole dish. Others raved about their french dip sandwich, and burgers.

I’ve been to Hillstone a couple of times and each time I eat here I leave with a smile. The food might be pricey but it’s pretty good! Last night I went for a friend’s birthday party and ordered the seared ahi tuna. It was delicious! Although the sauce on the tuna could have been a little better(it gave the tuna a slightly weird taste that didn’t allow you to enjoy the fish’s natural flavor), the mango salad was to die for. I also enjoy an icecream sundae for dessert which was magnificent! One critism though: I shared some fries with a friend and was instantly appalled at the state of these fries. I mean they aren’t even fries, they are potato crisps… literally fried to a crisp. Other then that we had a fantastic time! Our waitress was wonderful and dinner was delicious. Next time I will aim to try their burgers

I have been dining at Houston’s/Hillstones’s since the day it opened. My all time favorite restaurant. Tonight my meal was exceptional. Started with the Thai Tuna Roll. It is by far the best roll you will ever have. The secret is the Macadamian nuts. So good. We then ordered all sorts of Sushi, Rainbow Rolls, Nigiri. All beyond excellent. Full at this point, we ordered a burger with fries to share. Beyond good. Drinks very tasty, Lemon Drops. Could have been bigger for $ 20 each with tax and tip. Wine was delicious and affordable. Service superb. Lighting amazing. Great vibe.

They close at 10 pm. So, last call is around 930 pm. The food is good and portions are big. Ribs are good but peppery. Cream corn is great. Cole slaw is good. Their beer list is small and very weak. Good service.

We only stopped in here for cocktails after touring around Boston for the day and needed to wind down a bit for dinner. The cocktails were excellent but very pricey. The space is beautiful and the bathrooms are spot on clean. I wouldn’t mind going back for dinner soon.

My family and I originally wanted to go elsewhere for dinner and we happened to find this spot. I loved it! Clam chowder was good and jumbo shrimp was worth it. I had the crab cake entrée and it was fantastic. My parents had the salmon. It was cooked perfectly in addition to being moist. My brother had the french dip sandwich and he ate it all. If I come back to Boston, I would definitely come back.

I came here on a Thursday night for dinner and was told the wait would be 30 minutes. While we waited, we wandered around Faneuil Hall but the wait ended up being longer than what we were told. To make up for the wait, they offered to put an order of the Spinach and Artichoke Dip in on the house while we were getting seated. For my entrée, I ordered the Pan-Seared Ahi($ 25). The dressing was flavorful and the tuna was seared to perfection. The mango was a refreshing touch for the salad. We also also ordered a nigiri combo plate($ 16) to share. It was good, but not very memorable. It just seemed like something I could get from any Japanese restaurant. The bottle of wine we got, Parcel 41, was a good merlot and it was a great price as well($ 32). Overall, the service was excellent and the staff made sure our water and glasses were always full. They were attentive, but not overbearing. I look forward to coming back and trying one of the other entrees. I probably would not order anything from the sushi menu in the future. But I saw a lot of people order the burger while I was there, so I think I might try that next!

Ok I am still in love with their veggie burger and fries! OMG it’s so salty and juicy with fresh tomato and lettuce, crispy fries… Just wanted to update everyone. The boyfriend also decided to try something new… the ribs! He said they were soo good!

Been here about 40 times primarily because of the location, service and freakish consistency of the food. Here’s what I’ve tried that’s worth ordering stack ranked: — Pan-Seared Ahi w/mixed greens — Burger — both Veggie & Cheeseburger — Barbecue Pork Ribs — Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes — Pan-Roasted Scottish Salmon — Kale Salad — Spicy Tuna Roll — Osaka Style Pressed Sushi

This is still my favorite place to dine with my cousin; however we were shocked upon leaving the parking garage. Let me rewind. We ordered the usual spinach dip as an app which is always a treat. I had the veggie burger– super messy to eat, as it kept falling apart. I would recommend eating this with a knife and fork. We got our parking tickets validated, but when we exited the garage the price to park was $ 12. This shocked us because parking is usually complimentary. I’m unsure when this was enforced but we’ll just have to find street parking next time. Other notes: Service was exceptional as usual– our waiter was Justin. Parking garage machine only accepts cc. Reservations accepted. Non garage parking is a hassle due to the high traffic area.

A great eatery in the Faneuil Hall area. It’s warm and classy without the high price or snooty feel. The service was very friendly and the menu has quite a few options to satisfy all your cravings. I ordered the rainbow sushi which was great, especially cause you get a lot of variety in one roll. And the beef burger, which was certainly very flavorful. Do try their pimps Cup!

The last time I came to Hillstone, it was Houston and I had their baked potato soup — yum! Reservations are accepted either on the Hillstone website or by calling them direct. And it isn’t a bad idea to make one, since this place seems pretty popular with the white collar professionals of the area, at least at lunch time which was when we went. Although as I waited for the rest of my party, I witnessed one group being seated without a reservation, while another set of folks was offered a seat at the bar while they awaited their missing member, with an offer from the hostess to see do what she can should they wish for other seats once their friend has arrived. While other establishments allow you to check your coat, here they checked a patron’s bag, which I felt was a considerate offering given their clientele. A somewhat open kitchen to the left. The bar area to the right. Dining room filled with booths lifted up a step. Darkened surroundings with lights highlighting their décor and the central spot on each table. Yet no trouble seeing your table mates or the positive and friendly server. We started with the Spinach & Artichoke Dip with salsa and sour cream $ 14, which arrived perfect for the OCD patron, with each creamy, saucy item compartmentalized in its own bowl, and the light thin wide curvy chips in a pile on the side. A nice app to start with if you sat down hungry. Initial thoughts were to get the burger with the thin cut fries that had been so highly recommended to me, but instead I went with the Thai Steak & Noodle Salad $ 20(marked $ 22 on their online lunch/dinner menu) marinated filet mignon, mango, avocado, fresh herbs, pancit noodles, Thai dressing(also available with crispy chicken). It looked pretty good when it arrived at the table as a good sized mound of noodles with sizeable chunks of everything else strune about. It was pretty good, with the exception of the beef — though tender, the texture seemed a bit off. I eyed a DC’s Famous French Dip* $ 18(but $ 19 on the online menu) thinly sliced roasted prime rib on a house-made French roll served au jus. It looked pretty good and I was so tempted to ask for a few of those fries, but I refrained. I ate my entire salad, though it took some effort. Next time, I will answer the call of the Cheeseburger* $ 16 freshly ground chuck served all the way on a dressed egg bun.
