First, I walked in and three of the four people were eating lunch. They looked at me as I had interrupted and asked what I wanted. I said I had an appointment(which i made just a week ago) but they were still shocked and perturbed I was there. I explained what I wanted(my first time dying my hair so I wanted my stylists input). So the guy is heavy breathing the whole time and he starts hacking away at my hair dry. Internally I started panicking since I had just asked for a trim and want to keep the length! He proceeded to hack away and didn’t once use a brush… I could even tell he want cutting all my hairs. By the middle of the cut panic had fully kicked in about the quality of my haircut so I decided against coloring. I mean if the stylist cannot even do a proper trim job, why in the world would i let him go near me with chemicals. Suddenly he stopped and said he was done: i looked in the mirror horrified; he cut more than an inch off and it was very uneven(i actually had a rat tail coming down my back). It was hard to eleven he wasn’t joking. The women were stand offish and couldn’t care less of my existence. In the end they actually charged me for the botch job and I was dumb enough to tip! If I could give them a 0 I would… I thought it would be nice based on the website and the seemingly healthy hair treatments but please do not go in there! In the end i went to a place on newbury street just an hour later to fix the haircut and to color my hair.

So let me start off by saying that I am happy with the cut and color that I went in for this past saturday… even though I asked for a completely different cut. feels like I was ignored. I purchased a deal for $ 45 for $ 70 worth of service through Unilocal only to find out that the previous owner hadn’t taken the deal down even though it was no longer good. I was told that I couldnt be refunded and still had to pay the full service price… about $ 80.ontop of the $ 45. Also, when I left. my boyfriend pointed out the fact that I had hairdye ALLOVER the back of my shirt. It was ruined.unprofessional.also wasn’t told where the money I spent on the deal went to.

I saw the groupon for partial highlights and a haircut, but didn’t purchase it as I had just gotten a haircut elsewhere. I called and booked an appointment that weekend which was a pleasant surprise. My appointment was with the owner, and she was very nice over the phone. Although I didn’t purchase a groupon, she OFFERED a discount over the phone. I was shocked, normally you would have to ask to get some type of discount. I walked to the salon as it’s close to my apartment and was greeted by Maria immediately. While she worked on my hair she was very thorough and nice with me. I was at the salon longer than I normally am for a partial foil, but because I have long and thick hair she took her time with me(btw I am a natural brunette who gets golden blonde highlights). She only charged my $ 60 for the process, which I normally pay at least $ 85 for. so needless to say I was very impressed.

I go to Hair Garden Salon every 3 weeks to treat my hair with protein to nourish, protect, and restore it from years of dye jobs. Maria, the owner and principal stylist, and Angela, the senior stylist, have consistently met my expectations. And the price is so reasonable. It’s not an overstatement when I say that ever since I’ve discovered the Hair Garden Salon, I’ve been able to keep my hair lustrous and healthy while saving boatloads of money. I am lucky to have found these honest and talented professionals. I highly recommend them.

My experience at Hair Garden was really great! I had been looking for a place where I can get a simple trim without spending a fortune. I found Hair Garden and made an appointment. Everyone was really sweet there. Maria is the owner and she’s an amazing person who really cares about her business and clients. I immediately got a very warm feeling from her. My stylist was Angela, and admittedly, I was initially a little concerned at first because the last time I worked with someone much older than me, I had an awful experience(at the Venetian). However as soon as I spoke with her, I knew I was in good hands! She was very friendly, savvy and knew how to work with my fine, limp hair.(If I heard correctly, she has over 50 years of hair experience!). The price for my haircut, highlight and blow-dry was extremely reasonable and I would certainly recommend this place over the fancy-pants salons downtown. They also do facials and massage!

I bought a groupon for $ 60 for $ 125 worth of services — haircut + blow dry, keratin conditioning treatment, and partial highlights. I called to make an appointment three weeks out, on a Wednesday at 3:30pm. I showed up for my appointment and there was no receptionist, and who I deduced stared at me awkwardly were one of the hairdressers and the nail person. The hairdresser said hi, and I said I had a 3:30 appt. He said with who, and I said I wasn’t told. He asked what I was having done so I told him, and he said, «She’ll take you,» pointing at the only other hair dresser, an older woman just starting a blow dry on someone. I sat down. It was awkward. The hairdresser who wasn’t working and the nail person continued to play on their iphones/gossip. 5 minutes later he(the hairdresser) came over and said it would just be a few minutes. The nail girl offered me some water, and then forgot to get it until she was reminded. It was all ridiculously awkward. 10 minutes went by, 15, then 20, then 25 — THEN the woman who was supposed to be doing my hair turned around and said just a minute more. 10 minutes later, she finally finished with the other person. No one acknowledged that they were more than half an hour late. There was no receptionist, no customer service. I was pissed off. When she had me come over to sit down she asked me what i was having done, and said no one told her I was coming so she didn’t know. She almost had me freak out on her when she said she didn’t have the Keratin, but she was thinking of something else so it was fine. What wasn’t fine? I made a 3:30pm appt, being told on the phone that my services would take 1.5−2 hours, and had made 6:30pm plans for that evening. That’s responsible planning, right? Well when I confirmed it would now take 1.5−2 hours from 4:15pm(my appt was at 3:30pm) she said, «Oh no no 2.5 hours at least.» I had to cancel my evening plans if I wanted to keep my appointment that was supposed to start 45 minutes ago. But, whatever, I didn’t want to go through this again so I did. The woman doing my hair, Angela, was INCREDIBLY nice. She takes great pride in her work, and mentioned numerous times that this means she wants to take her time and do it right. Take her time she did. Granted, I’m glad that she did, but she surely could have picked up the pace a little, especially in the blow drying department. She was lovely to chat with, and gave me a perfectly fine hair cut. The highlights were a little misplaced, the water she used to wash my hair and then again wash out the keratin treatment was cold — not luke warm — cold — and remained that way even after I asked her twice to make it warmer. The blow dry was fine — what I do for myself at home, or maybe not that good. Overall this is place you come to just get your haircut, not to get your hair DONE if you’re going out somewhere special. They’re very very nice, but they need to work on customer service and consistency. I paid $ 60, so it was fine. If I had paid $ 125 I would have been really upset.
