Great Chef

I feel like this restaurant cook with flavor comparatively with the ones I’ve been to on east Boston this pretty descent when it comes to the flavor; however prices are kind of high so I assume this is normal in Boston because in this city everything is so expensive. They have delivery and sauces.

great cost to portion ratio. never had anything bad from this place. The hot and sour soup is one of the best I ever had. The staff is friendly too.

Cant beat this place for fast Chinese food, especially after a night out. Selection is good so is the price.

Um just don’t. Don’t go here. Not that I had high expectations anyways but jeez it sucked. First of all, I «ordered online» went to pickup my order and they say «oh the online orders go to the other location» nowhere on their website does it state that. Soooo I had to reorder at the location I was at and they had to throw out my meal at the other one since I wasn’t about to trek over there. I ordered the cheese rangoon thinking it might slightly resemble crab rangoon. Not at all. It was literally just cheese with nothing else and not to mention the cheese was cold and not even melted a little. Think of it as a fried wonton that someone popped a string cheese stick into. Disgusting.

Best orange chicken ever, if you haven’t tried it then you haven’t really tried this place. You can actually understand the people here unlike other Chinese food places so you can make sure you get your order right. Super fast and cheap.

Basic chinese food at decent prices they’re open late and have online ordering which is great! delivery is fast sometimes very fast. I will continue to order from here.
The beef lo mein is yummy and so is the chicken teriyaki sticks. My boyfriend always gets the house fried rice (the pork fried rice always seems bland)
A problem i have sometimes is with ordering online. Sometimes my order never goes through and i end up having to call is in… but whatevz

It is cheap americanized Chinese fast food just to start off. It is wicked cheap for a huge amount of food. $ 30 can feed 2 – 4 people depending on what you order. They are hard to understand on the phone but most of the time try their best to understand you and make it so you can understand them,

poor customer service, very rude. also, their pork strips had NO taste & plus they was dry !

I love eating here but I do not love eating at this place in particular. My favorite thing to eat here is the chow foon and chicken wings (I love chicken wings in general). The «bathroom» is disgusting and in order for you to use it they have to buzz you in… weird. The parking is horrendous; you pretty much need someone else in your car to jump out and get the food and dont leave your car unattended if your double parked. One other good thing about this place is that the deliver to malden where my BF lives and thats a good distance from east boston.

First time in Boston and couldn’t find a place open for late night grub. The hotel desk suggested here. I wanted to order Mai Fun and they told me they didn’t have it… I have never called a Chinese place that did not have Mai fun, even if it was not in the menu. So, I ordered the shrimp lo me in and the shrimp and broccoli which I specified I wanted extra spicy. Both dishes were very VERY bland. Just tasting like oil. For the price, I have had way way better. I wouldn’t suggest this place even in a late night «need food» situation.

NOOOOO. Please just no. Expensive. and not authentic even for fake chinese american food. It was the only place open. and i was actually trying to go the east boston one…

i just had a quick dinner with my friends who live in that area.
We ordered just a couple things. BBQ Beef stick, fried chicken and chicken wonton soup.
Beef stick is good for me if you i like BBQ Korean style which is quite sweet. It’s very tender a bit thin but OK with the cheap price. I would recommend it.
The best thing is their fried chicken. They just fired it when you place the order so it came very fresh and very hot. The golden brown chicken wings have very crispy skin tender and juicy. Not like KFC style, this one not dipping in any batter.
Wonton soup just my average not good but not bad.

I have been using Unilocal for quite a while now and have NEVER written a review. What compelled me? The absolutely worst delivery experience I have ever had. The bottom line for this place is that the food was absolutely disgusting and over-​priced.
The interesting/​funny part is this: it was a few minutes past 12AM and we were in the mood for chinese food. We are loyal customers of Shanghai Express in Revere (one of the best chinese food delivery places around) but they had closed already. I came to Unilocal in search for another spot and discovered Great Chef. I immediately noticed the mediocre to bad reviews and my gut told me to order from here. something made me disobey Unilocal and decided to order.
The portions were ridiculously small and overpriced and the chicken fried rice was super dry. The Moo Goo Gai Pan barely had any chicken or mushrooms. I think the one star for this place will be attributed only to the fact that this place is open until 3AM. PLEASE, do not commit the same mistake as I did. AVOID this place.

A couple weeks ago I called and got a delivery order from here. I should’ve known right off the bat that it was going to be a bad experience because when I asked that an item from my boyfriend’s combo dinner be put into a separate container the guy said it wasn’t possible. Really? You can’t put the beef teriyaki in a separate container? Are you kidding me? Apparently because it is part of the combo it has to go in. Find, whatever I’ll deal with it. We got the food, no extra plates or napkins like we asked. Also, NO DUCK SAUCE. NONE! What the hell? I even had asked for extra. And I got none! I had nothing to eat all day and after a long day of moving I was exhausted, starving and just wasn’t in the mood to put up a fight, so whatever I’ll suck it up I thought. The food was disgusting. The beef teriyaki was burnt. It was black! The general gau’s chicken was mushy, barely could taste any chicken. Both the white rice and pork fried rice didn’t even seemed cooked all way. And the boneless spare ribs were not only cold like they had been sitting in a fridge (making the rice and «chicken» under them cold as well) but they didn’t even have a taste. My boyfriend usually doesn’t complain because he’s like a human garbage disposal but he couldn’t even bring himself to eat the dinner after the first tasting bites.
It was just plain horrible. I called back to speak to the manager and I could barely understand what he said before he HUNG UP ON ME!
Maybe I just ordered from the wrong Great Chef on an off day since a few people have put up good reviews.
If I could give no stars, trust me I would.

Love Constitution Beach and love Chinese food, but do not love the food here. Limited lunch special menu and the fried rice had no taste. Though the chicken was crunchy and had a decent taste. Prices are similar to most fast food Chinese food places and the restaurant has decent seating.

I have been eating at this place as far back as I can recall everythinf is fantastic the service is great and they get to knw, you personaly if you go frequently, I recomend the house rice peking ravioli and the beef tereyaki. And the prices used to be wickwd cheap.

Everything tastes burnt and the people are rude.

Its a typical chinese food place. They deliver until, i believe 3am, which is great because everything in winthrop closes at 11pm.
I had one dish that was ok. it was a little too watery and I think it was the curry. Why would I rate curry from a chinese restaurant! So weird.
Anyways.everything else I have had is pretty good and usually arrives very hot, and if my memory serves me correctly, they serve cheese rangoon… not crab, but those too are nice. I haven’t had any late rough nights yet, but im waiting so i can order from this place at 2 am! (i miss those days)

Ordered appetizers and beef with peppers from here the other day, the price was good and the food was steamy hot. Definitely made for us and not sitting around on a Friday night waiting for orders.
The beef teriyaki was not good, unfortunately. The beef was not of the best quality and tasted all mushy. The spare ribs, though, were quite good and had little fat on them.
All in all, a solid place that will not get you sick or break the bank.
