Can’t believe I haven’t gone here yet, I live two streets away. Absolutely delicious, and I didn’t know any restaurants actually do «all-you-can-eat» sushi. Really affordable, and any food you don’t eat is charged at the normal price if you’re doing the all you can eat. Service was decent once we actually got seated(had to wait at the front for 20 minutes before I could get someone to even take my name). Sat at the Sushi bar and watched everything prepped, really fun time. For the price, great value for fresh sushi. Will be heading there when I’m not feeling like cooking.

Heads up– this place recently changed management and(by coincidence) I have not been there recently. Not sure if any of the offerings have changed due to this or not…

They have a nice and affordable lunch special. But only on weekdays. I think they are trying to step up their business game… Right now they have a killer lunch or dinner special with ALLYOUCANEAT sushi, appetizers, dessert. ANDITISALLYOUCANEAT. For adults its 19.95 on Weekdays and 21.95 a person on weekends. But totally worth it! and the service was great!

So, my girlfriend and I went here on a whim, hoping to escape the bland flavor and high prices of Fin’s. We ordered the Volcano maki, chicken katsu, miso soup, gyoza, and Fried ice cream. First, the atmosphere. It was empty. I felt kind of bad, because a place this good should be doing more business. But, i came to really appreciate the quite nature of the place. The waitstaff was excellent, very attentive, and ended up not charging us for the green tea, not sure if that’s normal, but i thought it was kind. Next, the food. The food was very good. The maki was very interesting, and very well presented. It had good flavor, and not too much sauce. The chicken Katsu was quite good, and the miso soup was subtle, but very good as well. Honestly, this is a place i would be more than happy visit again.

WOW !!! Simply WOW! I never thought of going to this restaurant to be honest as it seemed to be very«ordinary» from the outside. However, after giving it a try all I can say is that this is the BEST Japanese restaurant for what you pay. The Lunch special is the best deal out there. Also try their«fried tuna tempura» appetizer, its amazing! As for desserts, their fried ice cream is to die for!!! I would recommend everybody out there to try this restaurant as it is WAYBETTERTHANFINS. The only downside I would have for this restaurant is that not many people know about it, so SPREADTHEWORD…

The staff is friendly, hard-working and generally great. For months I have considered this place a terrific local treasure. The food is fantastic, the prices are very good and not having to take the subway to get there is a bonus.

Considering I’ve lived across the street from this place for 1.5 years it’s astonishing I didn’t get here sooner. I’m glad I finally did! The ambiance was nice although it was quite empty on a Sunday afternoon. I didn’t mind having the place almost to myself(me, my boyfriend and one other couple were dining). The food was great. Generally it’s hard to find a good vegan sushi restaurant that also has good vegan entrees. This place has both! I’ll have to be sure to go back again as I ate here after running 18 miles. I think pretty much anything would taste good after such a long run. Next time I’ll try to be more discriminating. But really this place just can’t be beat for the location alone. I don’t have to take the T anywhere!

Horrible. There was no hostess and no one brought us menus or took our orders for a long time. There were two sushi chefs — one of which was also acting as waiter. We also noticed when we sat down that there were a bunch of dirty tables around us. Our sushi was sitting at the window far too long. The sushi should have been brought out to our table right when it was ready to maintain the freshness. We ordered an unagi roll and they let it get cold before bringing it to our table. When we explained to him that it was cold and that we were displeased he tried to explain to us that it’s better this way — even though every sushi place we’ve ever been to served it warm. Eventually he took it back and guess what — he threw it in the microwave! Are you serious?! That is an example of sheer laziness and lack of pride in one’s food. Our waiter didn’t re-fill our waters once during the entire meal. The rest of the rolls we ordered were decent but nothing to gush about. Someone in our party ordered soy paper on all her rolls because she is allergic to seaweed paper but they decided to only give her one roll with soy paper. Maybe, like the eel, he thought it was better this way. That being said, the nasu shigiyaki(broiled eggplant with sweet miso paste and sesame seeds) was amazing. Based on their current rating on here, I’m not sure if we just came during a bad night or what, but we’re not going to risk going back again. Their only redeeming quality was the price of their food. However, there are other inexpensive sushi restaurants in the area(Fin’s is right down the road!) that serve much better quality food.

I have been ordering(delivery) from here for about 6 or 7 months now and have neglected to review it. I have to say, just to get this out there as fast as possible, that not a SINGLE time was I disappointed with the service or quality of their sushi. My fiancée and I have tried multiple sushi places, not all, in the Allston-Brighton/Brookline area but none could meet the standard that Fuyami set. It takes them 30 to 40 minutes for a delivery from start to finish and if you order the Miso, it’s piping hot! This review is all from a delivery standpoint even! Fuyami’s *delivered* sushi tastes and holds together better than all the other sushi places I have actually dined in. The«Maker and Breaker» that differentiated Fuyami from the rest? The avocados are creamy. Not tough. I like my avocado-rich sushi to be creamy.

So I came to Boston for two weeks to revisit and help someone move, and this place is quite the gem. Its too bad I discover it right before I moved to Tulsa, OK. Since traffic is low because its at a location away from the college area(B line Chiswick), theres literally no wait during lunch time. Bento boxes are perfect lunches, comes with rice, California roll, miso soup, salad with a ginger-like dressing, etc. The meat they serve is perfectly cooked(I had salmon teriyanki one time, chicken curry another). Great, quiet place to eat. Only con is its a bit too quiet since no music plays.

Its disappointing to see this place empty most nights. The sushi is very good, the price is pretty standard, the sashimi and nigiri seems to made from very high quality fish, and the place has a beautiful newly renovated interior. Hey people waiting for a table at Fin’s! This place is better and has tables to fill! The half-price menu seems like kind of a gimmick, but this place is really good enough without it.

Sadly the Sapporo special is no longer(found out the hard way… after the bill), but the sushi is still great and relatively cheap, so adjust expectations accordingly.

Another option for sushi besides Finz? I’ll take it! My boyfriend and I used to go to Finz all the time, and of course we hit up Bluestone Bistro all the time(right next door on Comm Ave dollar drafts with a pizza on Sunday-fabulous), so when this place popped up we sprang on it. The first time we went the food was fabulous, but we were the only people in there and the waitree did not speak a lick of our native tongue. The next time we went, it was hopping, they had some new talent in, and the experience of dining matched the quality of their unbelievably fun and flirty(that’s right I just called raw fish rolled up in seaweed flirty) food. Seriously, try it.(I would give it four stars but until we go a third time and have a similar experience to our second, it will hang out at 3)

I went here for a late dinner last night(I love that they are open until 10:30 P.M. during the week). The thing that sucks(get it out right off the bat) is that parking in this area of Brighton SUCKS at night. During the day, you have no problem, but since the streets are mostly no-permit, no time-limit, finding a parking spot was quite a challenge. After I found a spot, though, we were happy. We had driven out here after hearing about the 50% off menu. The 50% off menu had a little less maki selection than I had hoped, but beggars can’t be choosers. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to see sashimi and appetizers on the 50% off menu as well. So for $ 26.99, including tax, we got: a salad(regular price), baby octopus(half-off), spicy tuna(half-off), 2 crazy makis(half-off), a Philly roll(regular price), and mochi(regular price, which is kind of high — $ 3.50 for 2, when it’s $ 1 eat at Fin’s). All-in-all, however, it’s nearly impossible to go out for sushi, get all the food we did, and actually not leave hungry. Usually, if you spend only $ 27 on sushi, you’re still hungry! One day, I’d like to come back here and try the more expensive rolls, but I still have some Boston favorites above this place. As for the interior, it was a little stark, but it was very very clean. You can tell the place is new; the tables were shiny. There is a private room, and I told my friend that I was surprised there was a place so «nice» in the middle of Brighton, considering that on Comm Ave., it’s mostly college students.

Went to Fuyami today for an early dinner and it was great! Standard prices, good sizes, good/friendly service. Apparently they opened in October ’09 and I can’t believe I hadn’t gone until today. The inside looks very new and nice. Definitely going back.

I order from here almost once a week, I live right down the street and love sushi so it was a win/win for me. But sadly, this Tuesday my sushi was terrible. It tasted like food-court Sakkio Sushi, if not worse. I was rooting for this place, I wanted them to succeed, but I feel like now they are really cutting corners to do so. Such and upset. Back to Fins I go, and I’m taking my friends with me. Sorry Fuyami.

I can’t believe a new but cheap sushi place opened up near my apartment and I am moving next weekend! I decided that I was going to try it out last night and ordered it through Foodler. About 45 minutes later, the nice delivery guy brought my sake and hotategai nigiri, as well as a spider and fire maki. I even got a 20% off coupon! The salmon was good but not as buttery as others I have had. The scallop was a bit thinner than I expected but the makis were huuuugggeee. I should have gotten only one since both had fried elements. It seems like the makis lately have been impressing me more than nigiri, which are my favorite. I want to try their seafood salad and their spicy beef noddle soup next and hope I can get there once more before it becomes a hassle.

By far my best experience with getting sushi delivered. I had the spicy seafood salad — and while I’m not so sure it was all that spicy, it was delicious! The seafood was awesome and there was lot’s of it, topped with some flying fish roe, of which I’m a big fan. The seaweed was clearly fresh and it was a very satisfying portion. I also tried the crazy maki and the spicy yellowtail. The spicy yellowtail was pretty middle of the road: nothing fancy, just a straight up sushi roll. No complaints there, but not very memorable. The crazy maki was amazing, however. A tempura style shrimp with cucumber, avocado, spicy mayo, and flying fish roe. Delicious. The shrimp was done perfectly, still light despite being battered and the portion was a great size. I didn’t find their mayo to be overpowering, very flavorful but you still tasted the other ingredients. Yum. I will definitely order again. They were timely, polite and the prices were very reasonable!

I loved the food here. Wow. I had the spider maki, the negihama maki, and I split an order of Idaho maki with a friend, and all of it was fantastic. My boyfriend got miso soup, however, and was less than impressed; also, the udon noodles he got didn’t have any sauce on them… which wasn’t clear on the menu. He did, however, like the California rolls. The food is only one part of a great restaurant experience, however; the service is also key. Usually you don’t get to experience that when only ordering take-out, but at Fuyami, the hostess cordially invited us to sit and have a glass of water while we waited, which I have NEVER experienced anywhere at any restaurant of any kind. Then the sushi chef smiled at us and told us to have a good night on our way out the door. The place is brand new, and was done quite well: Not a dump, but also not so opulent(like lots of places in and around Boston) that you feel like you’re going to need to take out a mortgage in order to eat there as soon as you walk in. Disclaimer: I’m not as much of a sushi snob as some other folks, and I’m sure plenty of people are going to whine about something or another. And maybe it wasn’t the best sushi in the world, but I’ve eaten sushi at a lot of places in Boston, and this is the only reasonably priced place I know of where the sushi is THIS good. One thing of note: Finding parking in this neighborhood requires an act of God.
