Even the BRAN muffin(with orange marmalade) here is OUTSTANDING. They can do no wrong with food or coffee. It’s always a little hectic but service is still quick. I love you, Flour.

I got a haircut in the South End a few days ago, and when I left, I realized it was way past lunchtime and pulled out my phone to see what was nearby, and was thrilled to see a Flour. I used to go to the one on Mass Ave all the time, but I moved, so it’s been a while. It was past the lunch rush, but there was still a solid crowd. I ordered my go-to breakfast sandwich and an iced chai latte, and happily was able to get a seat outside(there were open tables inside, too, but it was such a lovely day). It was as delicious as always, and the chai latte was refreshing but not *too* sweet, like some places make it. I would have loved to get any number of the decadent-looking treats, but stuck to one cookie for later, and it was still delicious the next day. Oh, Flour. I still love you.

The quality has definitely gone down. I do not understand what the hype is about! My usual chocolate brioche and the pop tart both were subpar. The place is a mess, I couldn’t find a napkin to save my life! It is sad that Flour has expanded too fast. It used to be good. I hope Joanne isn’t thinking too much about her new restaurant and checks into this location once in a while!

The sticky bun is just as everyone says it is… Amazing. We also got the curried tuna sandwich, which was awesome, as well as a specialty sandwich, ham and cheese with rhubarb spread which was so so. The sandwiches are about $ 9 – 10 each and it seems like most of the standard sandwiches are packed with fresh veggies.

I ordered one of my favorite sandwiches(the roasted chicken with avocado and jicama) and it so delicious! Unlike other places I’ve been to, they definitely did not skimp on the avocado! I didn’t get it this time because they sold out but the Chunky Lola is also one of my favorite cookies in Boston. The perfect amount of sweetness and chewiness = one hell of a cookie!

We had a fruit tart from the Flour Bakery for dessert. It was good but it was a little thin on the filling. I am just used to fruit tarts that have a little more heft to them. The fruit was good and plentiful but it lacked a little glaze. The tart also had edible pansies, which were nice touch. All in all the tart was good but not the best I’ve had.

I must have messed up! Had such high expectations for this spot. Came in and ordered the acclaimed sticky bun as well as a homemade Oreo. I was tempted to get even more with the excuse that I needed carbs for my upcoming marathon… But I was already being a fatty. The baked goods display looks incredible as do the savory items(sammies, quiche, salads). But my two items didn’t hit all of the ideal notes despite the looks. The sticky bun is served warm, but it seemed like it was microwaved. Was pretty soft and lacked bite. It tasted ok, but it wasn’t anything special. I enjoyed the Oreo cookie a bit more, but again, nothing to write home about. I’m a massive baked goods addict and the major test of awesomeness is how irrational I’ll be to secure said goods. For other bakeries, I will travel far, line up and wait, box people out, fight someone’s grandma, etc. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this spot :(

Move over sticky bun, the butter breton is the new king here! Came over this morning in search of Easter treats. Since I didn’t pre-order, I was a little sad that there weren’t any theme-y, Easter baked goods out on display… BUT I spied two crispy golden butter bretons on display, gleaming in glory, waiting to be whisked away. I never had one before but grabbed just one(to the joy of my stranger-neighbor next in line who grabbed the last one). When I went home to warm it up, I cut it in half to reveal perfect layers of pastry –flaky, warm, glistening in sticky browned sugar. I inhaled the buttery scent –which also woke up my fiancée, who inhaled the half of breton I cut for him. Just heaven. I wanted to leave this review, because I have never been let down by Flour’s consistent execution and quality of their pastries. I’ve had really disappointing visits to other places around the South End(a shall not be named artisanal donut place). But Flour never ever disappoints me. Kudos to the teams here, you guys are the best!

It’s impossible to go wrong at Flour. I have tried nearly every pastry and dessert, several salads, soups and sandwiches, and I have loved it all. The seating here and at all flour locations can be tight, so if you want to meet a friend, go early to grab a seat since you usually have to hover to find a seat, especially if you go during peak times. My recommendation is always get dessert or a pastry even if you are just going in for coffee or a salad; grab a sweet something for while you are there or for later in the day– you won’t regret that decision!

Ok, I know this is a favored pastry place, but Flour gets higher marks from me for grilled sandwich making – I like it better than ABP. And though $ 7 gets you just half a sandwich and a small milk, the ingenuity, ingredient quality, etc, are worth it(and that price point is now cheaper than a falafel sandwich at any Clover, where your sandwich comes in paper instead of on a real plate). And the employees are always swell, always. So after a long grueling week, this Flour is a respite, serving up warm sandwiches and wholesome milk at a decent price even after 5pm. One of the few places where the sandwiches are so good that I would forego dessert for vegetables… that is a feat! In the realm of affordable eats, I’d say Chicken & Rice guys are a great value pick, then maybe Flat Patties and Flour come next. Clover has gotten expensive – I may need to take a few more trips to Amsterdam Falafelshop(s) instead. Any other affordable & good lunch/dinner recommendations?

Got the grilled roast chicken and it tasted amazing! It was packed and busy inside but it was done in less than 6 minutes. Everything about the sandwich was perfect especially the caramelized onions and roast chicken which was still moist and tender. The sandwich is a bit on the pricey side since it was $ 9 but it was definitely worth it and very filling. On a side note, I’ve never had brie before but it went so well with the sandwich and reminded me of pizza… I’ve gotten the sticky bun from Flour a few times and it never fails to impress. It’s perfect for those sweet tooth cravings.

Personally I found Flour to be a bit underwhelming. In my times in the city, I’ve stopped by flour countless times mostly due to convenience. During my recent visit, I had the chocolate brioche. Unfortunately, the brioche was on the drier side(I stopped by at 8am in the morning and not at the end of the day!), and could’ve used more chocolates inside. I still left unable to the shake of the feeling of «why are people so hyped about this place?» Overall, I think the pastries and the lunch menu at Flour are good, but never amazing in my experience. The only exception is the regular black coffee, which I’ve learned not to bother.

Mmmmm. The home made raspberry poptarts. The cream and sugar brioche that makes me not care at all about getting fat. The small feta tomato pot things. Ahhhh. flour. What a treat. There’s consistently a seat, miraculously, a newspaper to read and fine music. The setting is great and I can in fact get into the artwork on the walls. I really like flour. I wish they’d devise a means for all pastries to have all of the nutrients you’d need, and also would cause you to get skinny. Or at least not fat.

A not inexpensive place to get pastries and/or sandwiches. I can’t speak to the drinks(I can’t remember having one) but I have been here many times – lots of options and good quality. I prefer to have pastries/sandwiches warm/grilled if I am there, so that narrows things down a bit. Nevertheless, good for a treat. And it seems like you can buy a dinner(cooked?) to take home – requires some investigating(i.e. an offering a la Pantry)

Slam dunk for a foodie. Celery root, apple, honey, and thyme soup is well balanced medium intensity, slightly sweet and tasty. Coffee –try house blend for medium roast. Nice acidity, not too strong. Meringue– solid European lushness. Plain macaroon — not so plain after all, A+ or, as the teachers in USSR used to call it, 5 plus!

The workers here are fantastic. Despite how busy it got, they were cool and collected. It’s a small space and can get packed and overwhelming within seconds. The mirror by the wall creates a false illusion that there’s more space… But no… There really isn’t. We had the: + STICKYBUN: our first time trying this favorited bun and glad we got to dip our fingers in this hot mess. I wish it was served warm(do we need to ask?)… But we got it cold and it was(3.5−4/ 5 stars) it wasn’t too sweet and was too sticky; just the right amount. But I’m sure I was left with the«mouth-watering» impression that everyone else had written about… If I were to come back I would probably try other baked goods over the sticky bun. + SPICEDCHAILATTE: ehhh… Had better… Starbucks might make it a tad bit better… Not much to say other than(2⁄5) won’t spend money on this drink again.

Flour is a fairly small café that specializes in baked goods, especially breakfast pastries and sweets, but also features an interesting lunch menu. I had some really great breakfast pastries from Flour but also some mediocre lunch experiences. The sandwiches are amazing, no doubt. The roast beef and the BLT are really good. The best pastries around, always rotating in new and different stuff, and they focus on gluten free and vegan options(although I can’t vouch for these). You order in line at the counter, which is a little hectic because you have to look all over the place to figure out what you want. Pre-made items are under the glass in front of you, then you have to look through the regular menu and finally check out the specials board all while the person behind you is seemingly breathing down your neck in the small space. The staff try really hard but it is so chaotic behind the counter that the whole ordering process is very frustrating/uncomfortable. Some food/drinks come right out, other stuff you have to wait for. The wait can get quite long during lunch, and all of the tables are usually full. You will generally get a spot when your food comes out, usually, but no guarantee. You just kind of lurch over people and stand in the way while you wait for your food. I would recommend calling in an order for lunch and picking it up, or stopping in for dessert.

There’s a reason why Joanne Chang has an edge over Bobby Flay. Also co-owner of contemporary asian restaurant Myers + Chang, Flour Bakery is just as appealing. Incredible Iced Mochas to start and you’re making a mistake if you don’t pickup a legendary sticky bun, or 4. They sellout quick, so I suggest that if you see one, get one.

Came in to catch some morning breakfast with a friend. The space is charming and the staff was friendly. I ordered the roasted lamb sandwich and wasnt blown away(was expecting it to be warm and it was not. I later realized i could have asked for it to be grilled for a little extra… =/). My friend had the pesto melt which was good. And my cousin had the breakfast egg sandwich which was also good.

I love Flour so, so much. Everything is fantastic. I can’t begin to the list the items I’ve had here, but some of my favorites include the pecan sticky bun, parmesan scone, and croissant. Their fancier dessert pastries are just as good. My most recent mocha was tasty, though not super strong. The next time I return, I aim to try some sort of sandwich, whether it’s for breakfast or lunch.

I ordered the breakfast egg sandwich(which they were still serving at 1 pm, so that was cool) and a soy latte. The latte was delicious, but I didn’t really love the egg sandwich. It has a dijonaise sauce that I felt was quite overpowering, and the egg was a square soufflé type that didn’t taste super fresh. I’ve also had a cinnamon muffin there that was amazing. It’s always busy but usually tables open up rather quickly.

Parmesan scone was delicious– I usually complain about scones being too dry, but the crust and crumble were just right. Breakfast egg sandwich hit the spot– huge slice of crispy bacon, an airy, square slab of egg, more dijonaise than necessary, and cheddar/tomato/arugula layered in there. Didn’t care for the chai latte– spices were too thin and it tasted watery despite the whole milk, yielding a disappointing, light-caffeine experience. Soy mocha latte is at least tasty. I would be hitting up Flour all the time for carbs if I lived near any of their locations; this one was just a short jaunt from Mass Ave on orange line. Despite the hype, our line was short, we managed to snag a table, and the wait for prepared food was totally reasonable.(Granted, they had already run out of the almond croissants.) Future hit list: croissants, sticky buns, roasted lamb sandwich, seasonal crostatas.

Waited in a long line on Sunday around lunchtime, but totally worth it! Very cute spot, great for a date but may be a bit crowded. First time here, so of course I had to try the award-winning sticky buns. However, they ran out of the standard buns so I got the bread pudding version. No matter — they were still incredible, especially if you like pecans and caramel. One is enough to share between 2 people, and I’d suggest pairing it with coffee — it’s pretty sweet. Also wanted to try their cookies, so I got their(also famous) «Chunky Lola» with oats, dark chocolate, coconut, and toasted pecans. Tip: Get it warmed! Wish I had done that. Really good but not a stand-out, in my opinion, after the sticky bun bread pudding.

I came to this location right before a flight to Canada and it was so satisfying. This location has plenty of seating with a large table as well, but when I went, it was taken over by doctors from a nearby hospital. I had a coffee here and there was nothing to complain about — nothing! I also had a whole sticky bun here and it tasted like it had just come right out of the oven, unlike the one I had in Cambridge. It literally melted in my mouth. Kind of reminded me of a cinnamon bun/pecan pie hybrid — soooo good. In fact, it’s one of those things that are absolutely delicious while you’re eating it and you want more after, but then you think about how rich and dense it is and realize it’s probably better than you don’t eat another one. Definitely delicious, but I couldn’t eat a whole one of these everyday. Seriously people — the hype is real — get the sticky bun and if you can, get it while it’s hot out of the oven, kind of like when the Krispy Kreme«HOT» sign is on.

So I’ve gone here a few times now, and I most likely will be back for more. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the setup with the chalkboard menu design, I think it’s genius. The first time I went there, the first thing that caught my eye was the pastries. They have a large selection and practically everything looked great. I tried the chocolate chip cookie and wasn’t really a fan, however I probably stray from the norm since I don’t like oozy rich chocolate, so if you do it’ll probably taste wonderful. But, the cookie that I do love is the cornmeal lime. I’ve never heard or had anything like it before and it tastes amazing! The man at the register recommended it and it’s something you shouldn’t pass up. It’s a firm, crumbly cookie and the lime flavor is a refreshing joy. Both the raspberry crumb bar and berry bread pudding also taste wonderful, just a bit messy to eat. In terms of sandwiches, I ended up getting the bacon sandwich and added chicken since it’d seem like there’d be more bread than inner contents, and it was great. It was flavorful and filling. The only downside is that it was a bit pricey for sandwich. Adding ingredients cost 2.50 per item, so my sandwich ended up being 10+ dollars.

Delicious! I finally got around to trying their sandwiches after just doing the pastries on past visits. I tried the new sandwich: smoked turkey, cranberry jelly, arugula, and a cheese. It was delicious! The cranberry paired with the cheese made for a mouth watering combination. I can’t sing enough praises about the pastry selection. And seeing the number of reviews Flour has, everyone else feels the same way! Delicious, affordable, and such a large variety. I guarantee you’ll find four or five things you’ll want each time you come and the hardest part is deciding. The restaurant has a few tables and I haven’t had any trouble finding a seat. They also have some outside. There’s free wifi which makes this a popular destination for BU and Med School students during breaks.

So glad that Flour exists! This location is a great place to meet people: conveniently straddling Copley and the South End, but tucked away enough that it’s fairly tranquil and quiet(as opposed to the Mass Ave. location). I’ve been coming here a lot lately and finally feel like I’ve tried enough items to add some thoughts. I’m not vegan, but I love the vegan low fat chocolate cake. It’s really rich, with lots of chocolate chunks. However, if you’re not a fan of that dense vegan texture, go for another pastry. The chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies($ 2) are the perfect size if you want a treat without breaking the bank. On the other hand, if you feel like splurging, Flour always has plenty of big, beautiful, fluffy slices of pie(lemon meringue, coconut cream, and chocolate cream) for $ 5 or Boston cream pie for $ 6. My favorite is the lemon meringue, but you really can’t go wrong. I’m actually not a huge fan of the famed sticky buns. They’re super decadent, but they have more richness than flavor, if that makes any sense? They do have a ton of pecans considering they’re reasonably priced at $ 3.75, but I don’t like them too much more than the sticky buns you can get at Au Bön Pain. Maybe I’m not sold only because I haven’t had one warm! The rooibos«red» latte is a little spicy and a lot delicious, but the chai latte is weak and disappointing.(You can get an iced chai, even though it’s not on the chalkboard menu.) Also, the mugs seem a decent amount bigger than the paper cups – the foam volume probably contributes to the size differential – so make sure to ask for«for here» if you’re not on the run! I love how everyone in Flour(the staff and the customers) always seems super happy! Sometimes in coffee shops you can tell that people are there just to slog through some work, and it’s kind of depressing, but not here! The paucity of convenient outlets probably contributes to this carefree atmosphere, but it also can’t hurt that bacon smells are always wafting through the area…

My initial experience at Flour was a bit underwhelming. The popular sticky-bun was tooth-achingly sweet and the slice of coffee cake was so dry that it crumbled into pieces before the fork could make it into my mouth. And so, despite my grandmother living across the street, I rarely felt the need to run in for a bite. Flash forward and we were about a block away for Salsa In the Park(which is ah-mazing my the way!) and decided to stop in for a bite. I had the roast beef sandwich topped with a horseradish sauce and crispy onion straws. Absolutely DELICIOUS! Only gripe is I wish it came with a pickle or something, but that’s because I may have a pickle obsession or two. I may continue to skip Flour when I need my pastry fix, but will be back when in need of a quick, yummy, belly-filling lunch! P. S. Skip their sodas, I’m not sure if something was wrong with the syrup/gun/whatever, but it was absolutely disgusting!

Everything at Flour is amazing. Sandwiches, MORNINGBUNS, coffee, etc. I always take visitors here as a treat. My favorite sandwich is the chicken avocado one. They uniquely add jicama in the sandwich, which adds a nice sweet crunch. The bacon sandwich is also amazing. They give generous amounts of bacon! Also, if you plan on having a cheat day, I highly recommend the morning bun. Sweet, sticky, and fluffy. Pair it with a cup of coffee and you have struck gold :)

There is nothing not to love here at Flour Bakery. They make the most exquisite assortment of baked goodies and they do some equally delicious sandwiches. On my first trip here I got the stuffed bread special for there along with a soy latte then a cookie togo. The stuffed bread was on the pricey side but it was really perfect and I have never had anything like it before so well worth it for me. So it the«flavor» for that day sounds appealing go for it! :) Latte was good. Balanced. Nothing mind blowing but did the trick. Décor: Homey, crowded, bustling. Lots of outdoor seating not a whole lot of indoor seating. Service: Good, not awesome but not rude either. Probably was my fault cuz I wasn’t making a decision like the second I went up to the counter… One big peeve of mind though is when employees will clear a table but won’t wipe it down??? Your towel ISRIGHTTHERE just wipe down super quick and your done… but nope lets just leave the sticky bun residue of the previous person on the table. Overall definitely good outweighs bad. Can’t say no to a good bakery.
