From a guy with Jamaican parents. I approve of this restaurant. Hits close to home. Cooking is done well, large portions, great quality, and for an affordable price(under or around $ 10).

I like their food. My wife is Jamaican so I need to give no details for certain foods for I may be judged. We have been there several times and did I mention she is Jamaican.

Service is really slow especially if you want to dine in. I would recommend getting take out instead and avoid peak hours since it gets pretty busy. But the food is really good and decently priced. The plates comes with two side dishes, rice, and meat.

Flames is a great location with a welcoming interior and competitively priced food with large portion sizes. They will charge you less to dine in the restaurant than they will to get takeout. This place is always packed for lunch. The jerk chicken is awesome. You can get jerk chicken, rice, plantain and a veggie for under 9 dollars. Fantastic.

Cool place. I always get the oxtail w/extra gravy on my rice. A Red stripe. A patty to go. Jamaican dude may seem rude, but he’s not. He’s Jamaican ;)… You gotta get to know him. One of them is a real smart azz. what do you expect?

The place is very well put together and the preparation of the food looked excellent. I had a hard time choosing what to eat. So i ordered stew chicken, rice n peas, fried plantains, and a side of Macaroni pie. Oh my lord. Talk about heaven in my mouth. And the price was very reasonable. Definitely my new spot to eat. And since I’m currently working in the area i will definitely be coming back more often. Very respectful service as well. Everyone was polite so that made the experience sweeter. I recommend if your in the Brigham circle area to go and eat at Flames restaurant asap! You are missing out if you haven’t tried it.

ABSOLUTELYDISGUSTEDWITHTHESERVICEHERE. My friend is a regular customer here. Finally took the time to walk over here. And the chef/cook with the dreads in the big chef hat was SORUDE! I’ve never had anyone treat me this way. He was slapping the table, and really short. I asked him to move the oxtail around so I can see it and loudly«PSHHHH!» Shook his head and mumbled under his breath!!! Never in my life have I ever been treated that way! I asked him, is there a problem? He ignored me. I asked him again, sir is there a problem? He said no! Why would you treat a customer like that? So it because I’m not West Indian or black American? Because the customers that were in there seemed like they were being treated JUSTFINE. I was so pissed off, I said forget it! I am not eating here! I lost my appetite. Absolutely awful service! DONTCOMEHERE! By the way, I asked my friend if she knew who that man was and she’s had two incidents with the same man. She said that she’s actually witnessed him going back and forth with the other staff members. He was VERY rude to my friend and my friend requested that someone else serve her. Why is this man still working here? SORUDE! It is so unfortunate. Flames has such good food but it sucks that you have such ignorant people working for you. I will be spreading the word to everyone here in the area as well as reaching out to the owner., Jonathan.

The food is amazing, customer service could be better the servers are obnoxious an rude an very sarcastic an they have a very arrogant approach when they are asking what customers want, however the interior décor is very nice an welcoming, if they fix their demeanors they would be 5stars.

I am a regular here and have only good things to say about this place. My go to meal — stew beef — is always fresh and tasty. The only complaint: plantains as a side are not always available. Will definitely continue spending my $ here.

I’ve been coming to Flames since I was little. Everything is amazing. From the large amount of meat choices, to the amazing rice, to the bomb slaw and it’s just an overall win. The plates are a good price for the food you get and they recently changed the sizes so more food! This one has table service now, which I have never had issues with. They’re quick and friendly and the food is always fresh and they now sell alcohol. If you’re craving Jamaican food, try here or if you always wanted to try. Definitely worth a visit!

As a Jamaican, I often search for good Jamaican food served by friendly Jamaicans. Flames offers neither, in my estimation. This, my third visit, confirms that my two previous experiences were normal for this restaurant. The cooking relies heavily on hot-peppers to mask the lack of flavorful seasoning. Just had a king-fish meal, but had I been blind I would have thought my meal was peppered card board! And, the woman who served me behaved as if my order was an inconvenience for her. The open dishes, with her talking over them wasn’t comforting either.

I was 8months pregnant and craving a beef patty so I waddled to Flames around lunch time and immediately stumbled in a long line. Figured everyone was waiting for a plate I asked the guy if I can have a beef patty and move up because that’s all I wanted, the guy agreed. Once I did that, a very ill mannered guy started yelling behind my ear why I cut everyone because he was waiting to pay, he yelled in my face stating that he doesnt give a fuck if im a woman who is pregnant and he will smack the shit out of me. He said all of this in front of everyone in the restaurant and NOONE not even the people who worked there came to my defense !!! I will NEVER in my life again give service to people who have no empathy for women and let situations happen while they stand by idle !!! So sad and beef pattys r not good at all.

So I moved to Boston 5 weeks ago from Atlanta Georgia and I have been looking for a Caribbean spot since I touched Boston airport. I finally came across flames and was absolutely pleased at the taste, serving size and customer service of the establishment. We got in 30 minutes to close but they still welcomed us in and allowed us to sit and eat at the dining although it was closed off. The employees have a rich Caribbean accent so I felt at home. I ordered the oxtails with half beans and rice, half white rice with cabbage and plantains. The meat was so tender and well seasoned, rice boiled to perfection and the cabbage was fresh and crunchy– something you don’t usually get especially close to closing time. Since they were closing they were also kind enough to give us extra plantains and chicken pieces so to not waste it. I thought this was very thoughtful and we appreciated it. By the way the food is very well seasoned but feel free to add scotch bonnet pepper for a kick. Bless.

It was my last day in Boston and I happened to pass by this restaurant. I love food from the Caribbean and spice so I decided to hop in. The place is clean, had nice décor, and food looked fresh. Once I got home and tasted the food… my verdict was that my rice, cabbage, and jerk wings were all very good and I got the small box which could easily feed 2 for under $ 8. The problem I have is the service sucks! Like another reviewer said, the jerk chicken was being served by a jerk! The cashier also had a hollow, lifeless expression on her face. I love good food but nothing kills it for me like the lack of hospitality. Won’t be back anytime soon unless they train their employees on how to treat customers.

Jerk served by a JERK. I tried this place earlier this week with high hopes of addressing my jerk craving. I heard good things about the food and it’s also reasonably priced. I anticipated getting a dinner plate with jerk wings and some sides, plantains and rice in particular. Unfortunately, they didn’t have plantains. I wound up getting only some jerk wings and I must say, they were very tasty. Nice and moist… and the right amount of heat. So why the 2 stars? I’d love to give them a higher score, but the service was so rude and disrespectful that I won’t event bump them up to a 3 until they get their act together. The man who served me came across as angry, bitter, and was simply not meant to interact with customers. He berated me for not knowing the size of dinner plate I wanted. I asked him to explain the sizes to me and the options, but he got very aggressive and irate almost instantly. It was very unpleasant. No one should be subjected to this disrespect when they are spending hard earned money at any business. The woman who rung me up was much calmer and nice. I feel bad for her if she has to work with him everyday. So, there you have it. Yummy jerk served by a JERK. Proceed at your own risk.

During my undergrad days this was my favorite place to grab food in the Bringham Circle area. Everything is authentic and fresh. Never once had a bad experience there. The jerk chicken is not for the weak at heart, gets spicy. I prefer the stewed beef with cabbage and cream soda. I recommend giving this place a try. They offer dining in but not delivery, yet I hope.
