An old friend was in town for the weekend and we ended up dining at Fiouna’s Persian Fusion Cuisine. It was my second time here. I ordered the lamb kebab with the lentil rice. My friend ordered the salmon kebab with traditional rice. He had never observed a Middle Eastern restaurant menu with fish. Both of us opted for the homemade cherry drink. The prices seem too steep for the quality. While the quality was not suboptimal(per se), the average lamb entrée in NYC based Middle Eastern restaurants seems to be better. The plastic knife made cutting my lamb kebab near impossible. It should be more tender. Part of me wonders if there’s not a large market for authentic Middle Eastern lamb in the Boston market. Demographics would hint otherwise. It’s sad to say that local Chinese restaurants do lamb better than some of our larger Middle Eastern venues. The service and cherry drink were great. I saw no evidence of the attitude referenced in other reviews.

Ran in to get a quick sandwich to go. I got the grilled ground beef kabob sandwich. The kabob was cooked to order and hot off the grill and the vegetables were fresh. Overall a quick tasty sandwich. Just get extra napkins because the sandwich got messy with the sauce but it was so tasty I did not mind.

This place is absolutely delicious! The service usually isn’t the best, but definitely some of the best Persian food in new england. Chicken kabob and the salad shirazi are the way to go!

The food here was actually pretty good. I ordered their cornish hen dinner box and the bf got the ground chicken one. Both had good flavor and I loved the lentil soup it came with. But I’m giving it only 2 stars because the service here made me not want to return again. When my bf and I walked into the door, there was no one behind the counter. We stood there for a solid 5 – 7 minutes reading over the menu and still no one came to help us. We were starting to think the whole staff was on break, even joking about how you must have to ring a bell to get them to come out. But there were people sitting and eating so they had to have gotten their food somehow. Then all of a sudden, a big group of people got up from their table right behind us and guess what… it was the entire staff… sitting down to dinner in their own restaurant. It was the most awkward thing ever, especially because we were left to stand there for so long waiting to order and no one even greeted us. And when we finally started to give our orders, we were barked at and told to order down by the register. The girls working there look miserable and never cracked a smile. The food is definitely not worth sitting through another awkward experience like that again.

Fiouna’s Persian cuisine is the best Iranian restaurant in Boston. it was my first time here and it was an amazing experience. I was absolutely amazed by their food selection. I have to say that their koobideh is to die for and all flavors and spices were perfect to my tastebuds! Customer service was great and their staff were professional, very polite, and just top-notch.

This one star review… I don’t like writing these. Line to El Pelon was super long. I said to hubby, wanna go to the Persian spot? So we did. We ordered two plates, a chicken plate with a soup and salad and then a falafel plate with a side salad and two iced teas. We also let the woman at the register know that we’d be sitting outside. About 10 minutes pass and we decide to walk in to see what the status was. We saw that it was being brought out and a waitress stopped and dropped the food at another table that was inside. Couple proceeded to open the containers of food. Did they eat it? I’m not sure. Did I want that same food that was dropped off and possibly touched by other patrons? No. We told them that we were sitting outside and they forgot. The couple that got our food by mistake ordered their food to go so it was a giant mix up. We asked for our money back and that didn’t happen. Owner refused to give us our money back and he didn’t seem interested in actually giving us new orders. He kept saying that no one touched it and that it was okay. I didn’t want it anymore. This place lacks organization. When you walk in there’s no indication as to where you order or how you order. The register is in the back but there’s no signage or flow of order. People behind us were super confused and didn’t know if they ordered food and paid at the end when they got their food or paid for their order before receiving it(like a falafel king set up or vice versa). Not returning. Ever.

It’s ok. We got the salmon kabob w cranberry rice. It was just ok. Nothing special. The servers putting the food together, do not wear gloves and one of them was rubbing her nose! Thankfully nothing I got required them to touch the food directly. I wouldn’t return. There are too many amazing places(ie Pelion next door) to tolerate mediocrity

After 2 years of not eating Persian kabab and craving for it, my boyfriend found this place for me and I couldn’t be more happy with the food! We got ground beef kabab which was tasty and a bit juicy, and Gheyme bademjan stew which was very good(but I wish the portion was a bit larger), but I should say we got 3 complementary sides, one lentil soup, one salad shirazi and one mast khiar(cucumber yogurt dip) which tasted amazing!!! We also got the dolma, the taste was good but I wish it was served warm because that’s how I like it. I don’t wanna even get started about Dough! it was Ammmazing! Apparently they make it themselves fresh. Even my boyfriend couldn’t stop drinking it, although he didn’t like it when he tried this Iranian drink for the first time. When you go there don’t forget the Saffron ice cream!!! Enjoooooy :)

This little strip of restaurants is such a fantastic neighborhood spot … we can sit outside and I can eat Persian and my significant other can eat Persian, Thai or Mexican … The food at Fiouna is wonderful … I usually have the chicken Kabob with the Adas Polo rice … Healthy, simple but complex and sooo delicious … Must try!!!

So delicious. Had the chicken kabob with the green pea rice. Husband had the salmon with barberry rice. So flavorful. Chicken was expertly spiced, hot and juicy. Salmon had a great lemon taste. Lentil soup was amaZing. Light and delicately seasoned. Was great to sit outside and enjoy the day

I’m from LA, aka Tehran-gelos. We have the best Persian restaurants in the country there. This place isn’t bad in comparison… we had the ground beef kebob it was not too bad and the filet kebob, a little bland

The food was tasty, the staff was helpful and it is air conditioned! I came in for a very light bite and the endlessly patient staff steered me well. The plain basmati rice was very flavorful and the small portion I paid for was not very small. The dolmeh was good and the portion was enough. A restaurant staff can make or break one’s dining experience. This staff was wonderful, kind and helpful. Check it out!

I have tried time and time again to give this place a chance to prove themselves but they are simply the worst Persian/Iranian food I have ever had. This is your typical husband and wife operation with no proper training but simply an idea to start a business. We have ordered from here time and time again and it turns out to be worse every time. The portions are small, the prices are high for what you get and staff are very unprofessional. THEYREALLYNEEDTOPAY A VISITTOWASHINGTONDCORCALIFORNIAAREATOSEEHOWREALPERSIANFOODISMADE.

We ordered lunch on a windy afternoon. I got the falafel lunch platter and my wife got a chicken filet kebob. The portions were quite smaller for the price you pay. On top of that, every single item has vinegar which made them not consumable. I wish they would substitute the vinegar mixed vegetables with their vegetable stew.

Went here to grab a quick bite for dinner with a friend. The place is pretty small, so we were lucky to snag a table after we ordered at the counter. For my meal, I decided to go with the chicken filet kabab dinner box. I chose to have it served with the yogurt cucumber dip and half spicy pea rice and half sweet raisin rice. First, it came with a lentil soup that I really enjoyed. The chicken was cooked well paired nicely with the yogurt dip, but I wish there had been a little bit more of it, especially for the price(around $ 14). However, they did have a generous portion of rice with the chicken that was decent. I also tried some of my friend tabouli which tasted pretty good and a couple types of eggplant dip, which had nice flavors as well. Overall, this place is a bit on the high end of price, but the food is pretty tasty. Unlike many other customers, we received very friendly service, though the food took about 15 minutes to come out.

Had a dinner box — the ground beef kebab with lentil soup, salad, and lentil basmati rice. The kebab was well seasoned, and rice was delicious. Price is reasonable for Boston standards. It is mainly a takeout place, so don’t expect too much of an ambience. However, we had a good time there.

It was lunchtime on a Saturday when I stopped into Fiouna’s and it was dead. The staff all looked terribly bored and borderline miserable. Not the most welcoming but I was craving falafel so we stayed. The layout isn’t like most other falafel/kabob shops I’ve been to. You order from the menu at the register but you don’t get to customize what goes on your sandwich/wrap. I was kind of annoyed by this since what I was served, lacked all of the great condiments that I’ve come to love on my falafel. The falafel wrap was very tasty though I have to admit. It wasn’t the flavor combo I had been craving but still tasty. The price of my falafel wrap was much better compared to my husband’s lamb plate. For $ 13.95 he got a heap of rice and 2 little chunks of lamb. Again, he said it was delicious but very overpriced for the portion. If you’re in a pinch, then give it a try but otherwise I’d consult Unilocal for another spot to get your falafel fix.

The food is fantastic. So why only three stars? 1. Service. It was my first time here and I wanted to learn more about the menu. They offer lots of authentic dishes that you may not have encountered before. All kinds of stews and vegetable sides. But both women behind the counter were super unhelpful and unfriendly. Do they even know what they are offering? 2. It’s quite expensive. A small bowl of stew costs $ 13. It does come with a generous portion of rice and a small side salad. But this seemed a little pricey for lucky. I would have been better off with a lunchbox that they sell for $ 9 – 10.

For a takeout Persian place, It’s damn good. Chicken kebob is moist and there is plenty of saffron rice served on the side. I have never eaten in the restaurant, but it is welcoming. The staff are also very friendly.

This place has great meat, awesome combos of a TON of food — but at 11 – 13 dollars a lunch, it’s on the expensive side. Enter the falafel sandwich. An awesome solution for a 6 dollar lunch that isn’t huge, but hearty enough for a good lunch. The staff is friendly enough, and the place is super clean. They really are targeting the to-go crowd, but there is a bit of seating inside, and it’s part of the restaurant block– so there is quite a bit of seating outside too. Best of all — at lunch time — there is no wait. Of course, if the increased their sandwich options this could change everything. My only gripe is that you get your food for there, and it comes on styrofoam. I get that the rice dishes to go need that(even eating there) — but why is my falafel sandwich in one?
