Their sushi is great, one of my favorite restaurants for a quick meal. The portions are kind of small though, you might not be fulfilled if you go in very hungry.

I have had take out here while getting my hair done and I can’t wait to actually go in and try some of the other items they have here. The lunch box I have gotten was so filling and the soup is amazing.

Stopped in for lunch — hot sightseeing day walking and we wanted something cold. We ordered a variety of rolls and pieces. Everything was fantastic! Service = good, Price = moderate ambiance = great. We would definitely stop in again if in the area.

Came here for lunch around 1pm so the rush was largely over. Lunch Menu: awesome options for maki rolls, sashimi specials, or nigiri options. I love that these come with miso soup. I got the nabeyaki udon and the maki roll combo(was very hungry!) Food was very tasty! Service: It could be a tad bit faster. Did not get frequent water refills, or tea refills. Also had to wait a while to get the check. Perhaps it was because this was after the lunch rush– but still! Location: right by the red line(MGH)

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I tried it on a friend’s recommendation, but I’m extremely disappointed. I ordered takeout from here and it took over 3 hours to deliver!!! I called after 1.5 hours and I was told the food was on the way. After an additional 45 minutes passed, I called back and was told it should be here any minute. It’s now been 3 over hours and the food has still not arrived. I can understand being busy, but this is completely unacceptable. At the very least, something should be comped for this deplorable service, but the best I can get is «hopefully it will arrive soon, sorry».

Disgusting. Every single thing we had was horrible. The miso soup tasted so chemically and spoiled we sent it back and got a fresh hot bowl but it was not much better. The ramen did not taste right, either. The vegetables in the vegetable tempura dinner were cut too thickly and ended up soggy in some spots. Save your money or go elsewhere.

Tried a few things off the menu, fancy sake bowl, unaju don, ramen, chicken udon. Good food, decent service. Very busy during lunch rush.

Great, quick take-out sushi. They do brown rice on request and will pretty much make any roll that you want, as long as they have the ingredients. Good dumplings, too!

If you want warm sushi delivered to your place then this is the spot for you. Have gotten both delivery and take out, but are mediocre. I have had the experience of my order being given to someone else, and then expected to wait while they make it «fresh.» I come here/order strictly for convenience. This was the last time I will be ordering from this Fins! Decide to give this place another try– over 2 hours for delivery and I live less than 3 blocks away. I don’t know why I’m surprised, after all you’re guaranteed warm sushi/sashimi of you go with delivery.

I work close by and go here often when I’m in the mood for sushi. I have not tried anything else here but the sushi, so I’m not really sure about the other options. I’ve tried almost every maki roll, but typically end up ordering the Mexican, Hawaiian, or Snow Mountain. I like that they put coconut flakes on the Snow Mountain — it’s not overpowering, but adds something a little different. The fish is fresh, so I would recommend the sushi or sashimi on the menu. Miso soup is good too. The service has always been friendly and efficient. They sometimes get busy if you’re trying to snag a seat at lunchtime — but I’ve never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes. I brought take out back to my office a few times and was always had a good experience.

It’s a good thing I came in with low expectations because they were met. The chirashi bowl, which was about $ 16, came with miso soup. Unfortunately the chirashi bowl itself consisted mainly of rice(like 2 cups!) and 8 pieces of actual sashimi(mainly salmon) that were cut way too thick. It also included imitation crab stick, an addition that seemed odd to me. The fish itself tasted fine. My friend ordered basil beef fried rice which also contained a disproportionate amount of rice to meat. The service was lacking, with our waitress disappearing after the food was served. Water glasses went unfilled until I tracked her down. Overall, I’d look elsewhere for authentic Japanese offerings.

We dropped into Fins based on curiosity, Unilocal ratings and proximity to our hotel. We were definitely impressed with our first course, a delicious and generously-sized Crab Cake Appetizer on tender greens, better for two than one. My choices, Snow Mountain Crab roll and the shared Hawaii maki, were fantastic. My husband’s Ring of Fire was also a pleasant surprise. Based on a quiet night before a major winter storm, we give Fins a solid rating, for excellent service, good prices and great food.

Great place for lunch. Try the lunch specials, the Bento box options are excellent. Very affordable, all under $ 10, and served with miso soup. The grilled teriyaki meals are tasty as well. Not too sweet which is how I like it. They offer online ordering for take out. If you choose to dine in service is satisfactory. It takes a long minute for food to come out. Something they should improve on.

I came here around 5pm on a Tuesday. It wasn’t crowded, so I was offered the sushi bar or a table(dining solo). Can’t beat the $ 15 chirashi, with miso soup included(soup included wasn’t specified on the menu, so it was a nice surprise). Great quality sushi rice, slightly sweet with some sesame seeds. Great assortment of yummy, fresh fish. GENEROUS slices of fish. I felt a little rushed, but good attentive service. Since it wasn’t crowded, the staff were chatting nearby, somewhat loud, so it was a little difficult to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Otherwise, great experience. $ 15 for a great chirashi! I’ll be back.

Food is okay, not the worst by any means but certainly not the best. I wouldn’t suggest their delivery though. We live down the street and it took almost 1.5 hours and the delivery driver was very very rude :(

Good for lunch. Service was a little slow but nothing horrendous. Got the chicken teriyaki bento, beef teriyaki bento and yaki soba noodles… as well as spicy salmon roll and salmon sashimi salad. All were good. Not much more that I can say. These are pretty standard items and they hit the mark. I only wish the salmon sashimi salad had more sashimi! The bentos are great because it comes with miso soup, California rolls, salad, fruit, rice and your protein. The yaki soba noodles were great. Very flavorful. The noodles have a really chewy consistency. I come here often for lunch and will again.

There are few sushi places on the east coast that impress me and this definitely wasn’t one of them. Mediocracy at best… I’m particularly saddened by any sushi establishment that puts cream cheese in their rolls. Also, I don’t mind a little bit of tempura but I felt ill after I had the spicy tuna tempura. It has too much tempura, not enough tuna and no rice. Didn’t see that one coming… We also had the ramen soup. It was a huge serving and was only OK so after a few bites I was done. The waitress was great but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be back.

Merp. I really wish Unilocal allowed .5 stars. Fins is 2.5 stars in my book. I came here on a weekday evening, and be restaurant was nearly empty. Wait staff welcomed us and sat us right away. It was freezing, so I ordered the Miso and Cha Siu Ramen to warm me up. The ramen was brought up within minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by the fast service but my excitement was short lived. The noodles hidden underneath a bed of cha siu and bamboo were in a blob that had been sitting for a while and dumped into a bowl of soup without any effort to mix them together for a coherent dish. There was a generous portion of cha siu. However they were fatty and overly smoked. Overall I was not impressed by this dish at all. My friend who came with me ordered the Crispy Duck Breast. We both thought it was going to be similar to Peking duck by the sound of the name. It turned out to be fried duck breast. It came with a side of rice, salad, and miso soup. I had a piece of the duck breast. It was rather bland and tasteless. I couldn’t even tell it was duck. My friend thought the entire dish lacked flavor. The service was the only saving grace of our dining experience. Our waitress was smiling at us the entire evening. She came over to check in on us a few times and not at all in an annoying way. She was very attentive and personable, making sure that we were comfortable. I only wish the quality of the food was as good. It looks like the sushi here are the selling points. So if I have to return one day, I may be willing to try the maki. There are so many great restaurants in Beacon Hill that this one really doesn’t stand out.

Today, my family and I ordered a variety of rolls from Fin’s Sushi and Grill in Beacon Hill. They specialize in rolls, sushi, and sashimi. The tempura rolls were crunchy. The raw fish was fresh. 1. Spider Roll: deep fried soft shell crab, avocado, lettuce, cucumber, tobiko, spicy mayo, and eel sauce 2. California Roll: crab stick, cucumber, and avocado, rolled in fish roe and sesame seeds 3. Yellowtail-Scallion Roll: yellowtail, green scallion 4. Shrimp Tempura-Peaches Roll: deep fried shrimp tempura, lettuce, cucumber, peaches, tobiko, spicy mayo, and eel sauce 5. Eel-Avocado Roll: grilled eel and avocado, drizzled with eel sauce

While on a business trip in the Beacon Hill area, and staying across the street at the Wyndham, I noticed Fins and its prominent location right on busy Cambridge St. As a business traveler, I do always adhere to my rule of «no national chain dining» for dinner, and I was craving sushi, so Fins seemed like the perfect choice. Being solo, I was a little apprehensive about feeling awkward dining on my own in a somewhat romantic atmosphere, especially since I didn’t opt for seating at the sushi bar. It was almost as though the friendly host felt my fear, and sat me at a semi-private booth-back banquette table, with a nice view of the busy street outside, so there was plenty of people-watching to amuse me while I ate. My waitress was really friendly and brought my wine over super-quickly while I perused the menu. Wanting to stray from my usual sahimi platter and sample the specialty rolls that Fins had to offer, the Mexican Roll and the Fire Maki jumped out at me. Honestly, I was expecting higher prices, especially given the elevated costs in the Beacon Hill area in general. Much to my amusement, the Mexican Roll was only $ 9.50 and the Fire Maki was about $ 12. As you can see from the photo I took, both rolls were substantial in size, and I definitely didn’t leave hungry. The Mexican Roll was comprised of spicy tuna, avocado, Tabasco sauce, scallion, and masago. It was exactly what I wanted it to be: spicy, flavorful, fresh, and not overwhelmingly rice-y or saucy. The Fire Maki roll was a bit of a gamble for me, as it containes shrimp tempure, spicy tuna, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. I say«gamble» because normally I’m turned off by tempura– and mayo-containing rolls, but they were really well-executed elements in the Fire Maki, and the tuna and eel flavors weren’t drowned by the tempura or doused in too much mayo. I noticed also that Fins accommodated nicely a larger group of 10 not too far from me, so it seems like a good choice for a solo diner, a date night, or a small group of friends.
