Dick’s Last Resort

I was extremely disappointed and saddened when I walked by this restaurant and saw homophobic insults written on a patron’s hat. This was the second time I have seen homophobic insults written on patron’s hats. The comments/​insults were «Still in the closet» and «I’m not gay but my hair sure is.»
For background, this establishment is known for bullying customers. It is what they are known for. It is in good fun, but when homophobic «jokes» are being made, it is not a laughing matter.
With Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando, and the pride flags hanging in their window, you would think this restaurant could have a little respect towards my community.
When my partner and I spoke with the manager he had no remorse and stated «It was probably my gay server who wrote those jokes.»
Gay or not, these jokes and stigmas need to end.
If you are a member of the lgbtqia community, or an ally, I recommend you find another place to eat.

Honestly the food was worse than bad and cheap quality meat. Staff were extremely annoying. I know it’s their theme but still not the best experience.

I was in Boston for the weekend and got to this place by mistake, the experience was really nice, our waitress explained that she was doing to be a dick and she was but she never crossed the line, she was checked on us when the food the food came out to make sure everything was fine. The food was very good as well, I hade the Cesar salad with chicken and my wife got the southwest salad with chicken. The chicken in both salads was cool to perfection and the salads were dressed right, I’ll definitely come me back to this place!

Dick’s irreverent, sassy, rude style can be a bit much for the uninitiated. But for My NYC family and I, we dished it as good as it was dished to us! Loved our waitress with her sassy Boston style. As a New Yorker, I am a tough food critic so the food gets about a 3 but gave the 4^th star for the service. If you want to have an unusual dining experience and don’t mind getting you silverware, straws and bill thrown at you, Dick’s Last Resort makes for a memorable meal.

Food was pretty good, not great. The experience is the thing. Our waitress Karen was hilarious. Rude and fun. We loved it.
UPDATE! I forgot my credit card on the table when we left. Karen ran outside the restaurant and found us and brought my card to me. A great employee. If the boss is looking at this… give Karen a raise!

Came for my birthday. Food was awful and expensive! Hated the rudeness… I know it’s part of the whole experience but our server took it to a whole new level calling us sluts! Won’t be coming back. Restaurant floors were so dirty!

This is a place for college kids to wear silly insult hats and celebrate their 21^st birthday. Food is terrible. Booze is cheap quality and over priced. Never again.

Will never spend my money there agian. over charge for two large tequila drinks
27.50 apieces. There nachos and cheese with chili sucked. Total Bill 72.00.

How in the world can a place near Downtown Boston close at 10pm on St. Patericks day? The corporate suits who run this place makes this the lamest dicks around!

I’ve read other reviews and I can’t believe that there was bad service! Our waitress, Karen, was absolutely amazing; checking up on us regularly, joking with us, and being the perfect balance of «dick“ish and helpful. We got lucky with the food, it was no five star kind of dining, but it’s good food to just get a drink with. The drinks were good and the night was just hilarious overall.
Keep in mind you must have a sense of humor and at least a bit of energy to come here!

The Staff — The staff were some of the most annoying people I have ever meet, with violent screaming at random customers, and they threw straws at my family and myself. If I’m going out to dinner on vacation, why would I want someone yelling at me and talking down to me?
The food was sub-​par. Tasteless, dry waste of money. You can go to Cheers, do the tourist thing and still enjoy a good, hot meal at or less than the same price.
I regret going here.
There is nothing funny about semi-​bullying people.

Server was amazingly entertaining. Food and drinks came out rather fast. Got the Shroom and swiss burger and fries. The burger was a tad dry and not very moist. Drinks are pricey but you get to keep the glass! Go for entertainment not for food.

I went to Dicks in myrtle beach and our server was hilarious. He was still a good server, you know, doing his job?
So when my sister and her best friend visited Boston I thought it would be hysterical to bring them here. Our server came to us ONCE. Our food was delivered by someone else and it was never cleared. We never received our check. We sat for 15 – 20 minutes after we were all finished before I got out and angrily found our server to get the check. I abandoned my sister at the table because she refused to leave cash and just walk out of fear of not covering the whole bill.
Please note: the server that waited on the table next to us was awesome with his table. We saw them all receive hats. We saw them laugh with him and we enjoyed hearing his dickish comments. We even watched our server make hats for her 8-​top. We were never offered hats.
I’ve never felt so bad about picking a place. And I’ve never felt so hurt as a customer.

I was visiting Boston with a friend and we came upon this restaurant. We were greeted nicely by someone at the front who showed us a table. Then, next thing we know, the server threw napkins and silverware on the table and said «There’s the menu, figure it out.» He then walked away.
We were stunned. We finally found the menu on the wall. The selections were extremely limited and were very expensive.
After awhile, the server came back and noticed we were just sitting there and weren’t going to order. He kindly explained that the place was called Dick’s for a reason and that he was supposed to be a dick. HOW AWKWARD
We laughed and I said, «I guess we’ll be dicks and leave.» We said our apologies and left.
I don’t know how a business survives with rude service, even if that is the theme of the place. How can the severs be rude yet serve you at the same time? The theme makes no sense and makes the experience very awkward.
Not my kind of thing, sorry.

Hard to know how to rate a place that gives intentionally bad service as it’s niche.
One member of our party — who worked in hospitality for many years — just couldn’t come to terms with the rude waitstaff and had to leave, but the rest of us embraced the silliness of it all and enjoyed watching waiters throw cutlery down on tables with complete apathy, stick hats with stupid insults on people’s heads, and generally give out sass. Must be a fun job (how do they interview for that?!)
Food was ok. Meals go for that quantity not quality thing that’s prevalent in a lot of American bars & bistros. Nothing to get excited about there.
Where they lost points with me was the outright con with the beers — they advertise one price then slug you for another because they’ve upsold you without your knowledge to a drink option where you get to keep the glass. Looking around, every table left their glasses behind, no doubt unaware that they paid extra for the privilege of the establishment then being able to ‘sell’ these glasses again and again to unsuspecting patrons. Pretty dodgy stuff Dick. I took mine just out of spite and left it in our airbnb.

Expensive, weak drinks and not all that funny. The hostess was a downright bitch and it wasn’t part of the ‘game’. She threatened if we weren’t all there in 5 minutes, (which would have put us 5 minutes late for reservation), she wasn’t going to honor reservation, even tho 11 of us were there and waiting for 4 to return from restroom, which is another story. Not in restaurant, long lines and disgusting on the weekend. I wanted to take our party of 15 and our 700 tab elsewhere but it was a busy Sunday so we stayed.
Dick’s was way better in the old location, it’s much more tame now and hat sayings are pretty mild. This was the last time for me, if I want to get treated like shit, I’ll get re-​married. Oh one good thing, redneck fondue.
Ps-​I thought the waitress was funny, and I wasn’t insulted to receive a hat saying I shaved my ass. But in general, place is over-​hyped, over-​priced and I’m over it.

Classic insults and had a great time being ignored by our waiter.
We first walked in and and was asked what we wanted to drink because he could not read our minds and then he threw about 20 straws at our table and the table behind us.
We ordered the Fried Catfish along with Tater Tots. Food was actually pretty good, quantity was on the smaller size.
The waiter honored us with the special hats where my daughter’s said «I Snapchat when I Poop» and my wife’s said «I like to smell toilet seats».
Fun times watching all the other people wearing the condom hats and being insulted by the staff.
Good time and if you don’t have a sense of humor this is not the place for you.

Dick’s Last Resort is a total tourist trap with overpriced glorified fast food, but it was a fun destination for a bachelorette party dinner. I get the theme — everyone on staff is a dick to you, and everyone in your party gets a silly paper hat with a generic boys’ locker room insult. Our table was dirty and sticky, there were napkins and food all over the floor, and those of us who got food that should be eaten with our hands got no silverware. Our waitress tried her hardest to be mean, but it was all clearly part of the act, and she was actually adorable. Overall, it made for a fun time, and the food wasn’t half bad.
We got the bachelorette party deal, which was $ 20 a person for a selection of entrees usually $ 16 – 18, and it came with a cake for everyone, plus a shot for the bride. Most of us got chicken tenders, and they were actually pretty good. Every drink came with a glass that we could keep, which made the prices almost not offensive. The cake was banana flavored, an interesting choice that I think was meant to go with the dicks theme. At the end of the day, this isn’t a place I would come to on my own, but it was a fine choice for a party and fit the bill for what we wanted to start off our night.

I wish I didn’t have to write so many low reviews… but for the sake of those using Unilocal,listen up!
Me and my boyfriend came to Quincy Market and there was a sign saying that certain restaurants had 50% off! We looked online and Dick’s was one of them! It said their fish n chips were 50% off!
We walked in with ¼ of a pretzel left, and the manager or someone said «they don’t take outside food.» We had to leave, finish our food and then come back in. (What a «d*ck» move… please excuse the language!)
The place was pretty empty, so we could sit wherever we wanted. We had a few minutes to ourselves before the waiter came and helped us. He was pretty good at what he was doing – disclaimer in the beginning of his «speech” – he doesn’t have to be nice to us! (Made us chuckle.)
We ordered:
–Fish n chips
There were no specifications about how much we would get or what size we would get… in about 15 minutes we got our orders.
Pros:
–Fish was good! It was piping hot and fresh! I liked that there was not a lot of flour on the outside… so I could actually taste the fish.
–Good portion size for fries. My fries were hot, but my boyfriend’s wasn’t. (A con for inconsistency)
Cons:
–Bad attitude from the manager. He really looked like he was going to eat us alive when we did not do anything to him… even your workers are more professional than you!
–We were not asked how many portion of fish n chips we wanted… we only wanted 1 to try, but we got two buckets instead. (But at least it was 50% off)
–Such small portions! The bucket made it seem big… but a grown woman likes me need more than what they served.
–Salty fries. Super salty… and like I mentioned above, inconsistency with the temperature of the fries! My boyfriend was not very happy he had to eat cold fries.
TIps/​Observations:
–I guess you should definitely ask what you are getting BEFORE you order anything… you might get a bad attitude but it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Overall, would not recommend this place. Food was very mediocre and overpriced, and service was a-​okay.

I got ribs and wings… No flavor and very bland. Had to ask for extra bbq sauce.
Sis in law and brother in law got the grilled chicken… They said it was bland.
Husband got the fried chicken… He said it was good. Food was about 90. bucks. Okay for a good meal, but sucked because the food was gross.

La temática del restaurante es que han de ser bordes. Pero todo tiene un límite. Fuimos con un grupo de amigos, y nos trataron muy mal. Al final como nos trataron tan mal no dejamos propina. Y el camarero nos echo del restaurante chillandonos. Hay muchos restaurantes en Boston como para gastarse dinero en este sitio.
