I came here with a few friends a couple weeks back and was blown away by the décor and the overall layout of the space. We were really expecting great things just by the space alone. We had made reservations and were seated promptly. We were off to a great start! Then, the service started… or lack there of. We ordered drinks and food. The food was really good, however I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and found a bone in my chicken. I am not one to send food back so I ate around it. Our husbands went to the bar to watch a close Celtics game and we waited and waited for quite some time to not only get another round of drinks, but to cash out as well. I decided to give this place another try with a friend because we wanted to have our husbands 30th birthday dinner here. They have a great space and the environment was right for it. We came on a Sunday so we could make a decision to have it here. It wasn’t that busy and we came around 2pm. We had drinks with lunch, the chips and dip were amazing! Again we waited for a refill on our drinks and even asked for additional ketchup for our fries, but no one came around. We finally flagged down someone to get another round of drinks. Even our waters were empty and no one came to check on us to see how our food was. We decided to cash out at our table and figured we would have better service at the bar since there were quite a few open seats. It took roughly 10 minute for someone to eventually ask if we wanted anything. We orders the ice hot chocolate martini, which I had previously and it was very good. The bartender did not put the candy cane rim on it nor did she add the Tito’s vodka. Again we waited for 10 minutes to order something. The service is very very slow to which it is painful. But the icing on the cake was trying to get ANYONE to return our phone calls and emails to make a very large party reservation for close to 20 people! We have now tried for a week to get this together and not one person has gotten back to us. I am very disappointed with how this place is run and the efficiency of the staff. I am thankful we are not having this party here as it just shows we would most likely be here for close to ¾ hours. I really wanted to love this place and have this be a new hot spot in Southie, but it definitely has some kinks that need to be addressed ASAP

I have not tried the food and have not been here prior to the opening of the Café, so I cannot speak to that and have heard mixed reviews from friends. However, I tried the newly-opened Café and it was great. The coffee was excellent, and it is the exact vibe for a coffee shop that the neighborhood needs. I will definitely be back.

Congrats on the opening of your café today! The café is a great new workspace for the neighborhood! Awesome wifi, delicious breakfast and coffee as well as a super friendly staff! I’ll definitely be back! I came back for a second time today, and I love this place even more! They make their chai in house and it is absolutely amazing — quite possibly the best chai I’ve ever had — and I’ve had A LOT of chai!

Went back again– new menu is amazing! Falafel is delicious and food trucks are still a cool addition to both the space and menu. Definitely recommend

I love the atmosphere at Coppersmith: very laid back and relaxed but still a very urban vibe. The new menu released this January has many different options, including fun, comfort-food type dishes done in a very sophisticated way. The addition of the food truck in the restaurant adds even more of a «city» vibe and offers fun small plates. I especially enjoyed the tater tots. Coppersmith is a great place to hang with friends after work, grab dinner with friends, and also for a fun date in the city. Very versatile with great staff and easily accessible location. I will definitely be returning!

Low key Southie restaurant. Spacious and beautiful rustic décor, a reworked copper factory hence the name. Love the display of bottles above the bar area. A good spot for dinner, casual lunches and to catch a game without the rowdiness and grime of bars. The Copper Mule is an amazing selection for those who like their cocktails sweet and fruity.

I’ve been here a handful of times now and felt like it was time for a review of this place. Although I’d like this to remain a little neighborhood secret, I also want people to know what this place is all about so we can keep it around for years to come. So here it goes… the service has always been great, friendly, and accommodating(even when they were still trying to figure things out during the first month or two). I’ve stopped by a few times for drinks-only and I felt the prices were reasonable. I loved the outdoor deck this summer. When my husband didn’t know what type of beer to order, the bartender made a few suggestions. He seemed genuinely interested in helping him figure out what to drink. Then, we went back for dinner/drinks and we had a great experience. We were seated promptly, the food was much better than I expected(sorry, people — Boston’s food scene has underwhelmed me coming from NYC, LA, and Philly). In fact, it’s one of the better meals we’ve had here in the city. My husband got the organic half-chicken, I got the buttermilk fried chicken… both were fantastic. We’ve been back 2x’s since then and can’t wait to go back. Lastly, every time I’ve been, the place has been lively, bustling, busy, and energetic. But, it has never been so packed that you can’t find a spot at the bar or grab a table for dinner/drinks. We’ll definitely be back. It’s without a doubt our favorite spot in Southie.

Came here for the pats game Sunday. Started off with some Sam winter warmer, fresh beer is a good sign. For the game they do a «dueling food trucks». One truck for each team. Pats vs Titans: there are actual trucks in here, one with Tennessee bbq and catfish bites, the other with chowder and lobster fritters. The catfish was excellent — this coming from a man with southern roots. The drinks were top notch. I had two titos Bloody Mary’s, lots of peppercorns and horseradish, the way a Bloody Mary should be. Not in the mood? Try the coppersmith punch. It’s a cider bourbon mix that everyone ordered after I did. If I seem a bit drunk it’s the punch. Just try it. The food was all good. The service was great. And the game was on a projection screen so everywhere you could see the game. Fort point is blowing up, and coppersmith is the newest edition.

Amazing space –great renovation, exposed brick, etc. Food was good, but definitely not great. But they need to learn about not giving false expectations for sitting at a table. We showed up at 7, and they said it would be no more than an hour. Over 2 hours later, we still had no table… though 3 different times, we were told they were bussing ours, and it was almost ready. Turns out that one of the tables went to the owners’ friends, who came in last minute. Think about who you care more about from a business perspective: your«VIP» friends, or you actual potential customer base who could burn you via word-of-mouth. Bottom line: good atmosphere, very poor customer experience. Oh… and your dishes that are on your menu every night(not on «special») shouldn’t be sold out — better inventory planning can solve that.

This place is a disaster. I’ve been twice now, and hate to right a bad review of such an aspirational place in Southie, but the service and food are just so bad. The waitresses are poorly trained and the food is just disgusting. Nothing on the menu makes sense and they don’t have any of the barfood you’d expect. It’s like they are trying too hard but can’t execute. For example, they had pork sandwiches and paella balls coming out of the food truck. The balls weren’t paella, they were just yellow rice balls. And the pork sandwich was covered in a garlic mayonnaise. Who makes paella balls in a food truck? Who covers a sandwich in mayonnaise? Come to think of it, who puts a food truck inside a full restaurant? The physical building is beautiful and the huge roof deck in South Boston is a really welcomed edition. But the food is just so bad I can’t see myself going back. My suggestion would be to add some old favorites like buffalo wings and maybe grilled cheese. If they need inspiration they can just go to Loco or Lincoln that are great and always packed. And if they want to stand out they can focus on the drinks and craft beer. But as it stands, unless they make changes, I don’t see Coppersmith’s staying open very long.

i am not sure why this place is getting such terrible reviews. Came here around 6:30 and was able to get a reservation easily, too. The good: +service was GREAT. she was almost a little too attentive; but very much present and able to provide excellent service +the dishes we had were all excellent: the rissoto, the herloom tomato dish, the falafel burger, the haddock fish with the shallots were delicious(one of the best meals EVER i have had!). their wine and beer selection seems pretty extensive too. +no bread is given = #public health #skinnygirl the bad: –their silverware was dirty(!) –they don’t have a cocktail menu –the place is super dark/dank and sort of depressing. feels like a dungeon inside. the ceilings are insanely high, too. –they were out of the Hake dish when we had a reservation at 6:30/ sort of strange that one of their main dishes would be sold out immediately after opening up for the dinner time. that is just strange. Overall, a great addition to the area and I loved the dinner menu items. It is super meat based but with some red wine their fish dishes are great and the falafel burger was awesome!

Red Sox hats, worn backwards: 15 Worn forward: 0 Silky, billowing blouses: 50 Hair bleached blonde: ALLOFIT(I checked) Too-large business blue button down shirts, worn with shorts, covering an enormous gut: 35 Apparently these are the characters you will find at Coppersmith. Welcome to Southie, ya’ll. We went like a day or two after it opened. The chicken sandwich was excellent(that is pimento cheese, people, not freaking crab). I dreamt of the pork rinds, but they wouldn’t carry them from the bar to our table. Really great space — there’s a café, a restaurant, a large bar area, and upstairs bar, an outside patio, food trucks, and probably lots of other hidden corners and secret areas. It is the kind of place you go with your friends and sneak off into a corner to make out with your girlfriend. But, you know, in a sophisticated Southie kind of way. Yeah right.

Coppersmith is the new hip place to be in Southie. The venue really reminded me of a Brooklyn beer garden inside a warehouse. I actually really like the concept. Okay, I must say what really turned me off about this place was the line. My friends and I arrived around 10pm and we had to wait 15 minutes to enter… and when we walked in, the place was still pretty empty! I don’t know if it’s a mass capacity rule, but there’s so much ample space inside. How annoying. I can’t stand places that purposefully create a line to make it look cool. How uncool, in reality. Anywho, Coppersmith had a good selection of beers. I recommend trying their rotating tap! When I went they had a limited edition beer specifically made by Harpoon for Coppersmith. Nifty. The menu looked so-so, but my friends and I were craving something salty to split so we ordered french fries. The portions were TINY and we definitely did not have enough to eat. Otherwise, the venue is a pretty cool concept and seems to pretty popular. Be sure to come early to avoid the line…

Attention: I am one of the folks who believe criticism of Coppersmith at this present moment, is a bit unfair. I did not attend the Media/Yelp Elite event, but Jason L and I managed to grab a reservation for Coppersmith’s first Saturday. Considering that Saturday was only the second day Coppersmith was open for business, I was very impressed. We had a reservation for 7PM, but in our excitement, we showed up at 6:20PM. Can we be seated early, we asked. Absolutely!, they responded. I have to admit– it is confusing where the bar ends, and where the restaurant portion begins. We were seated in a two person table directly in front of the Food Trucks. Between the hours of 6:20PM– and 8:30PM, only one other table was seated for dinner. Prior to 7PM most of the seating hosted people ordering drinks at the bar. At 7 — staff asked these folks to leave. But no one else occupied the tables? When Jason and I arrived at 6:20, a couple behind us in line asked to have dinner, but didn’t have a reservation. They were directed to the bar, and told the dinner section was booked until Mid– October. Huh? I can only imagine that perhaps a lot of people made reservations and didn’t show up? Or maybe people had 8PM reservations– and so staff reserved the table prior to that time– to ensure it remains open? Maybe staff haven’t realized yet that if someone comes in at 6 — they can almost certainly flip the table prior to 8? But I digress. On to the food! We ordered: The Carolina Mustard Wings and Mexican Street Corn from the Food Truck. Only one food truck was open — but I believe in the future– both plan to duel each other. The Carolina Mustard wings were very tender and juicy, and the mustard sauce was good — but the skin was a bit flavorless. The wings could be bumped to the next level with a little bit of dry rub. The corn– good– but not Toro good — but it was a good snack, and you could clearly taste the cheese and lime. Jason L and I also split the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and relish, and the fried green tomatoes NOWTHISIS A SANDWICH. Delicious– the chicken was juicy, the pimento cheese was the bomb, rivaling Hungry Mother’s version(RIP — you are in our hearts forever), and the bun was smartly seeded. The fries that came with it? Eh– need more salt, and a bit more time in the fryer. The Fried Green Tomatoes? Awesome– very thin, cornmeal crust, served over a delicious sauce. I liked Coppersmith’s version much better than Sweet Cheek’s. The sauce was great– I would only suggest a little more of it. Other things of Note: If you are seated at the restaurant– you can not order from the Bar Snacks Menu. I thought this a bit odd– considering that the bar snacks are listed on the regular menu– but I have a feeling this will be corrected. When we came– there was no cocktails yet. Waitress promised a cocktail menu debut within the next week. Something to look forward to! The beer list– is weird, and errs towards Bro– inspired Frat Boy fair. Please please please Coppersmith fix this! I do not want Bud Light or an Angry Orchard– up your Jack Abby’s quota, add a Bantam cider, and BOOM, you will attract a broader clientele. We had great service from our waitress. I do think it’s a little odd, however, that the hostesses are dressed to the nines — and the don staff wear Boston sports gear. Pick a theme and run with it.

This place is amazing and had a few days of special events that included free food and booze — what’s not to love??? I’m don’t think people can base their opinions on pre-opening events because there are obviously a lot of kinks that need to be ironed out but it’s fine and Coppersmith will do amazing things. The staff is amazing and were very helpful and accommodating. The space is freaking awesome and exactly what Boston needs. Two food trucks inside with daily rotating menu’s, picnic style tables, huge wrap around bar, café upstairs along with a rooftop. It has everything you need in one place, oh and the exposed bricks were my FAVE!!! I have the pork ribs and mustard chicken wings, along with some passed apps which included falafel balls and prosciutto and melon bites. I think they were all pretty tasty and I can’t wait to go back once they are settled and have a couple weeks under their belt! The laid back vibe is cool and a great spot to host a private event or even a casual get together. The team behind Coppersmith is amazing and has done a great thing for the community. Cannot wait to go back and try items off the kitchen menu and food truck!!!

Seeing as how this place recently opened, I feel it unfair to give it a solid review when I’m sure a lot of things are still in flux as they figure out what works and what doesn’t. But regardless, first impressions matter and here are mine. Conceptually, it was a little confusing what Coppersmith was going for. Based on their indoor food truck, far more extensive beer and wine drink menu, and wide open spaces with plenty of seating and communal dinning tables, I think the establishment is more a beer hall(with some light food). In terms of the food menu itself, it’s small but if there are plans to expand it, I won’t fault them for it this early on. Unfortunately, many of the dishes weren’t hits for me or my friends. Of what I saw and tasted, I think the best was their Chicken on a Biscuit. It was tasty and probably the heartiest of all food items offered. The Korean Bao Bun was the biggest miss. It looked and tasted like it was slapped together with no thought. The pork belly they used was more fat than meat and a bit weak, flavorwise. And in terms of accompaniments, they could’ve done better than just including pickled carrots. The grilled cheese wasn’t half bad though I could’ve used some bacon bits. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been a problem for them to add in but I forgot to ask. Their attempts at a breakfast menu were also a bit lackluster. However, if you’re looking for a good place to drink with a group and watch a game, and you’re not super picky about food, Coppersmith will fit the bill. Service was also great. Our server was a doll and happily split our check in a somewhat unusual way. I’m not saying they can’t and won’t improve with time, but they need to work on their food menu. I don’t feel many of their offerings are worth the $ 8 they charge just yet. Let’s hope future iterations taste better.

Decent space and staff. Service is pretty awesome though. Attended a pre-opening social media event, and had a good time. It was great seeing my party table peeps and having a good time. The food was good, and a little interesting. Combos of ingredients questioned my palate but I tried them anyway. Bacon and melon, bacon and watermelon, and the beef slider were my least favorites. The bacon things were tasty but an odd combo. The slider was dry but okay. Falafel wasn’t a bad bite either. The chicken slider was damn delicious. Fried chicken, tomato, polenta and cheese, and corn! How did they pack all this in a slider?!? Damn delicious. The cubano with duck was tasty too. And the grilled cheese. My husband is a vegetarian and when we mentioned this, they brought over grilled cheese, and naan with curried potatoes and mushroom. Very nice of them to accommodate him! Love the space and the interior design. Location isn’t bad either. We may be back!

Very underwhelming. While everyone that works there are very sweet, the music is great, and the interior is modern the food portions and quality isn’t what you would expect for an opening weekend. There was no printed menu for the food and it was written on chalk boards on the truck which took a while to figure out. The Nutella French toast was $ 8 for a two prices of bread attached by Nutella. The kielbasa was good but no difference from the meat you would get from the package, I was expecting more flavor. With that said our sever informed us that the official brunch menu will be up and running next week so I will try to come back here in a month or so to give it another chance. I have high hopes for this place and hope it meets that when I return.

Oh how delicious. Oh how mouthwatering. My stomach is thanking me for coming here. First off, the location is superb. 2 minute walk from the red line couldn’t get any better. Gorgeous space with lots of tables, bar space, books, and even a rooftop porch! Couldn’t get any better. Plus, they have two food trucks parked INSIDE their restaurant. What? Crazy. Love it. The food. The goodness. I tried a lot of dishes. My all time favorite is the naan and the watermelon cubes with bacon. The naan has delicious flavors with tasty mushrooms. great bite sized sandwich. The watermelon and bacon is something I’ve never considered before and worked really well. My other favorite is the crispy chicken slider. Paired with pickled corn, it’s an interesting taste combination The staff are friendly and helpful. Sitting at the bar, I felt just as waited on as if I was at the table. The bartender was attentive and friendly, and even stopped to chat! My biggest pet peeve is if a bartender blows me off because of how busy they are but that was certainly not the case here. She juggled serving drinks and cheerful talk perfectly. I can easily see how this place will become a staple in Boston. Cheers!

The physical opening of Coppersmith is still a few weeks away but I bought a ticket to a chef’s tasting event they had and it seems like this place will be a big hit. The menu was farmer to table focused and was very descriptive, even listing allergens, gluten free etc. Duck buns — these little guys were great. If you’ve tried pork buns before you will certainly enjoy these. The marinate used is so tasty. Even if you aren’t a duck person I would try these. Fried Green Tomatoes — For me these were one of the highlights of the meal. I’ve never had them before and was excited to try them. The had a healthy coating of some kind of corn meal coating before they were lightly fried. They were also topped with a bit of some kind of tasty sauce. Sea Bass — a very fresh tasting fish that was accompanied with morel mushrooms over potatoes and a healthy does of green garlic Pork Chop — a great cut of meat that was marinated in some kind of brown sugar glaze. My favorite part of this dish was the side. The peanuts cooked like baked beans and kale it came with was outstanding. Chocolate Maple Tart — The crust was buttery and perfect. The maple element gave the dark chocolate a richness I wasn’t expecting. Great way to end the meal.
