Can’t live without a #1 or a Cholesterol to start my day :-) Fast and friendly… The nicest people ever work there! Have been going there for years, since I started NU in ’01

This place gets a solid 4 stars for the whole package– good food and an interesting experience. It is a small in-and-out kind of a joint. There is no place to sit at all inside the place. It is literally just a counter. Immediately when you walk in a guy with a salt and pepper power-mullet yells at you in a Boston accent asking what you want. Things are fast-paced. The appearance of the cooks are also interesting(decoratively shaved eyebrows, etc). The menu is fairly extensive for such a small place. I decided to try what I considered to be the basics to accurately judge the place, after taking a stab in the dark with a BBQTKO. Every time I go in there someone is ordering a TKO. I figured I would try it. The BBQTKO is different from the normal TKO in that it is all dark meat. The thing that struck me about that sub was the large amount of meat they managed to cram onto the bread. It was borderline staggering. Next I had a chicken cordon blue with french fries. I was impressed with this sandwich. It came on a bulky roll, but the roll wasn’t too bulky. I don’t like sandwich rolls that take over the whole sandwich. I want to taste the sandwich for the contents, not just the bread. Bulky rolls tend to overwhelm the rest of the sandwich but not the ones they use. They are a happy medium. The ham was a thin ham steak, not deli meat slices, which was a great choice. Also, they make their own sauce for this sandwich, which was excellent. The fries were perfect– crispy and flavorful on the outside, soft and hearty on the inside. Next I had the chicken parm. I wasn’t as impressed with this. It came on a sub. First they put the sauce down on the bread. It wasn’t very much. Then they put two mozzarella sticks down for the cheese. It ended up not being very much cheese. The chicken was previously-frozen long and thin chicken cutlets. Those were fine, but I was hoping for something better quality. It wasn’t up to the standards of the other things I have had. Most recently I had the meatball sub. This was excellent. There was plenty of sauce and PLENTY of cheese, which was important. The sauce was a delicate tangy sauce with basil and onion overtones. The meatballs(there were 5) were large and soft. They tasted great. Plenty of good flavoring. The sub roll was toasted and didn’t get soggy with the sauce. Surprisingly, it also retained its softness. I had that with onion rings. The rings were buttery and thick with a hint of salt– just the way I like them. They also had a perfect crunch-to-soft ratio. I am working my way through the menu, and with the exception of the parm, I would order it again. The prices are also very reasonable. Worth it to check out.

We all have that weak moment. On a cold day, skipped breakfast, and the smell of grease attracts you to this no frills, cooked right on the spot, fast food joint. Once you go over and understand the menu, almost everything becomes mouth watering. This is what a working man’s lunch should be comprised of. It’s not healthy, but that’s not the point here, and that’s not why you came in in the first place. Enjoy every bite of that delicious sandwich and devour every single spicy fry. You may regret it later, but the satisfaction in the moment is unbeatable.

The people are super nice, but the food was not so great. I ordered a greek salad topped with grilled chicken. The salad was just ok, but the chicken was very dry. Maybe I just came on a bad day? It was during lunchtime, so it shouldn’t have been that last dregs of chicken left. Also, I did not get any dressing with the salad. I didn’t ask for anything to be put on the side or anything, I think they just forgot. They gave a piece of pita bread with the salad and it was so bland. I used it as a napkin(since one wasn’t put into the paper bag). My bad for not asking for one I guess. Maybe I just ordered the wrong item. The menu looked very promising.

I usually don’t rate very highly of places that accomodate well to patrons(it’s a little shack), however, these sandwiches are the bomb! I got the sandwich with chicken and jalapeño poppers(Texas is in the name but I can’t recall it), which I highly recommend.

Dope sandwiches made quick to order. The only draw back would be that the sandwiches can be a little on the dry side due to an abundance of meat in them. You can;t go wrong with any of the TKO choices, they just need some extra sauce. Pro tip: show them your NU id for a discount.

Best sandwhich shop in the area. It is what you would expect from a small college shop. Get the TKO but everything is good.

Never thought of going for lunch there before. But I will definitely go again. I got the regular TKO: fast, good price, good quality and good quantity. Highly recommended.

Go there like every other day for breakfast and/or their amaaazing mint iced tea. There’s no other place as affordable and good within walking distance from Northeastern. SOGOOD! I’m so glad they extended their hours to nights and weekends!!!

I love this place. Great food, great service that epitomizes the local culture. The TKO, Southwestern and Sex on a Bagel are fantastic. Good fries too. The only disappointment was the BBQ pork sandwich-not a traditional southern BBQ sandwich at all. But going to Boston for BBQ is like going to Memphis for lobster-why do it? Get a big sandwich, load it up in sauce, banter with the staff and enjoy this local treasure.

Probably the best breakfast food around Northeastern! Their best sub is easily the TKO! The pulled pork is great too! Oh and do out their MINT iced tea on a sunny day, it’s brilliantly refreshing!

How can I go to Northeastern and NOT give this place 5 stars? This place deserves the rating, alma mater locale or not. Many a time as an NU student, Chicken Lou’s has had my back. About to study for a tough exam? Pre-study soak your stomach in the fats of a spicy heavyweight TKO with lettuce and tomato(that’s a sub with chicken, bacon, a «heavyweight» amount of honey mustard sauce, hot sauce, american cheese, lettuce, and tomato). Hungover and not sure if you’re going to make that 8 am Friday class? Revive your drive with the Breakfast Samp’lou’r(if you were thinking«is it just all the shit associated with breakfast on one sandwich», you’re in the right ballpark)! In addition to tried-and-true favorites, one of the best features of this Northeastern establishment is the wealth of its deep cut menu. My personal favorites are the B’Lou’Min Lou Down Under, the Crispy Chicken Fillet, the Lou’s Mis Steak, and the Three Ring Circ’Lou. If there’s one issue to have with this place, it’s the open hours. Seriously, 7 pm is far too early to close on a college campus! Regardless, in an area with so few unique food options, Chicken Lou’s is a diamond in the rough; don’t bother calling yourself an NEU student if you haven’t had the pleasure!

Attended NU a while back and had the opportunity to try it for the first time since then last year and it has not changed a bit, other than Lou not being there barking at NU students. Cheap eats for the NU crowd, absurd combos of flavors in pretty much any makeup you can imagine but amid all of that, try a chicken n cheese sandwich(on kaiser) for the best of simplicity and goodness and then you can venture into their Lou creations. And then, if it’s nice out, you can take your sandwich over to the Christian Science Building area just down Huntington Ave and pull up a seat and enjoy(there used to be a reflecting pool there).

It isn’t fancy. It won’t make you feel healthy. You might need to take a nap after the meal. But it is pretty tasty. I can’t really recommend this as a lunch place for adults trying to get work done, but I will say I wish I had had a Chicken Lou’s near my dorm when I was in college.

I ordered the TKO hoping for a satisfying sandwich, because according to a lot of reviews, it tastes great. I ended up getting overcooked/old-tasting chicken in slightly stale bread and ended up hating my dry sandwich. The spicy fries were fine, nothing special. Overall, really unimpressed and a waste of about 8 dollars.

Made a point of stopping at Chicken Lou’s when I was in town visiting. Back in college I’d eat two meals here a day. My old favorites were #1 add hot sauce and blue cheese, spicy lou add blue cheese and lous misteak. This time I got the spicy lou add blue cheese. It was as good as I remembered it.

I can’t believe this holy temple of chicken has such a low Unilocal rating. For shame! Chicken Lou’s is the ultimate in fast-action, high-calorie, chicken-eating technology. You walk in, order a TKO(with optional spicy or heavyweight tacked on there), pay the nice person at the register, wait your goddamn turn for your sandwich, and then dive headfirst into a state of chicken ecstasy. If you want a salad, this is no safe haven for you, but if you’re ready to start living your life like a champ, go to Chicken Lou’s, the pride of Northeastern.

Okay, I admit. The TKO was pretty damn good. Even though there was a measly limp slice of sad looking bacon that I found in my other half of sub that I left to finish later(SURPRISE), I thoroughly enjoyed the soft crunch of the bread, the heavy weight of homemade honey mustard sauce, and of course the chicken pieces that were barely breaded. At some point though I thought I was eating chicken salad. Yet, for some reason, even though I can’t necessarily wax poetry about this sub I have to say it’s something I would definitely eat again. Despite the possibility of getting your order mixed up and not getting a decent ratio of length of bacon to length of sub, the guy who takes your orders just has that hair cut that makes you want to see him again and the way the sub tastes in your mouth as a phalli*…okay, anyways folks, next time it’s time to try a heavyweight southwestern TKO.
