«Campus Convenience», now called«City Convenience», isn’t «convenient» at all. The managers constantly rearrange displays in the store so that you can’t find things, and staff people usually don’t know where the new locations for items are — or even know what you’re talking about. «Corn chips? I have never heard of those!»(They’ve carried them for years.) The coffee is traditionally pathetic. Too weak, too strong, with grounds floating in it, wrong flavor labels on carafes, etc. They used to give customers a free coffee for every 9 purchased. Now that they serve«Duncan Donuts Coffee»,(woop de doo) they no longer offer the free one. The store is often understaffed — one employee in sight with a customer line going to the back of the store. The register area is sometimes crowded, no room to put purchases down easily because hey, we have to display 500 shot glasses. Staff people speak good English, poor English, and I swear, no English. «Do you sell apples?» «Yes!» «Where are they?» «Yes!» Prices are HIGH. Seriously, $ 8.00 for a small jar of salsa and a bag of chips? Tons of fat and salt laden junk food, some fruit, a place I plan on avoiding in the future.

In college, I worked at the GSU location of Campus Convenience. At the time, the store was managed by Tahir Mahmood, and the assistant managers were Mustapha Karathy and Reggie Tayb. Does anyone know if they are still around?

Say what you will about the City/Campus Convenience chain stores, but when I was in a hurry to grab ice cube trays before a party, this place had them and 7 – 11 didn’t. Admittedly the selection sucks for the most part, and the people at the register are perpetually angry or disgruntled, but in terms of convenience it usually wins a star or two. However, in the other 99% of situations where playing Frogger across the Kenmore intersection is an option, you are probably better off not coming here.

Ugh I hate camp-co. They make their money off of your forgetfulness. Like if I forget to buy milk at the grocery store, and want to walk only 30 seconds I can, and can buy it here for like twice as much. Seriously some examples. Cadbury egg– 90 cents. 50 in CVS Pizza Bagels– 3.50(2.00 at shaws) etc etc for whatever reason I still find it shocking and annoying. If you are considering this location at least cross the street(ok yes, a pain in the ass since it’s Kenmore) and try 7 – 11(also overpriced, but slightly less so). I also agree that it’s one of the worse ones on campus, because it’s small. It’s true that the employees talk on their cell phones a lot, but give them a break when I go in in the evening there are never that many people… I’d be bored too.

Of the Campus/City Convenience stores, this is the second-worst.(The one on Babcock Street being the worst.) It’s small, so its selection is mediocre compared to some of the other CampCo locations(cough 702 Comm Ave cough.) Plus, their perishables(eggs, milk) seem to perish a little too quickly. Nevertheless, it is well-lit, clean, isn’t frequented by shady panhandlers and ticket scalpers during Red Sox games, and doesn’t have that weird coffee-and-hotdogs smell of 7 – 11. They usually do have what I want. If I’m in the area, I’ll keep going here for my convenience/impulse needs.

Most of the employees in the Kenmore and GSU Campus Convenience locations are extremely rude. I have been turned off by them — particularly the people in the Kenmore one — so many times. They talk on their cell phones or to each other while at the cash registers and treat customers like idiots. On one visit, a woman looked at me like I had six eyes when I asked for a receipt. I’ve been working in retail for years and would be promptly fired if I was ever caught treating customers the way these people do. For convenience’s sake, I wouldn’t even mind paying the higher prices if I didn’t feel like I was going to get an attitude every time I walked in. If I’m not in a hurry to get something, I’d much rather walk to CVS(where they still tend to have attitudes, but the prices are slightly lower) or better yet — Shaw’s or Trader Joe’s. Hell, if the people in 7⁄11 didn’t creep me out so much, I’d just go there.

I go to NESOP which is about 3 doors down from this location… so I go there every day. My relationship with this place is abusive. I hate it, but I can’t stop going. One of the new girls(the one with the pantyhose on her head) is a total bitch who yelled at me(while on her cel phone) because I was looking for change in the bottom of my purse. Seriously, I know you’re having a super important conversation on your cel phone behind the counter of this convenience store, but there’s no one behind me in line… and I want to give you 38 cents. STFU. But…it’s seriously convenient… and when I’ve overslept and I need to do a shoot for my advertising class and I have this meat grinder… and decide that I need some lemons… they’re there for me… it’s just going to cost me.

Overpriced everything. Only because its on campus. Two stars for being ‘conveniently’ located.

I just hate CampCo. After four years of wasting money there during my stint as a BU student(with the mindset: This isn’t real money!), I have resolved never to buy an overpriced, burned cup of coffee here again. Serves me right!

Maddie’s is the place to go! Very close for Boston College students. and thus so conveniant! Even if they are a bit over-priced on items, BC students will end up going there anyway. It’s even more convenient since they take Eagle Bucks!

Once known as maddie’s market, campus convenience resides right next to the campus of Boston College. A nice little shop for to pick up basically anything quick. They also sell ping-pong balls.
