Jessica F took me here before a BB&B run and it was definitely the kind of filling, affordable meal you should have before power-shopping in a store where you’re apt to want to buy everything in it. She had the potato pizza(her favorite) and I decided NOT to get the pizza, as I’d just been to Posto and had a bad experience there, and got the pappardelle bolognese with braised pork and beef. $ 14 well spent. The portion was huge! The noodles looked and felt handmade, all uneven and twisty and chewy. The sauce was thick, rich and delicious and the braised meat was so tender. I have a weakness for a few Italian sauces – spicy arrabiata, marinara, pesto… and bolognese is definitely up there. Something about its hearty meatiness… I’m salivating at my desk just describing it! Cambridge, 1’s bolognese definitely satisfied, even though purists will surely argue it’s not the most authentic. The atmosphere is tres casual, with dark brown wood and an open kitchen, booths galore and a long, expansive bar. Definitely good for a quick lunch or a casual dinner.

I’m so sad to hear that Cambridge 1 is closing — It will truly be missed in Fenway! This place has really unique pizzas — you’re not so much getting pizza as you’re getting an entire meal on top of a flatbread. It’s pretty awesome how filling these pizzas are. I took my boyfriend and my parents here and everyone really enjoyed their meal. The place is casual with its long tables and benches but the service is super friendly. As a vegetarian, my favorites are the #7(tossed baby arugula, fontina, parmigiano) and the #12(spinach, artichoke hearts, chevre, slow roasted tomatoes.) Hurry in and try this place before it’s gone!

Although I’ve only been here when its completely empty, I can’t seem to get enough of Cambridge 1.‘s gorgeously cheese-slathered and tastefully aromatic thin crust pizzas. One whole pizza is enough to fill two hungry bellies at lunch or even a half pizza paired with a salad. Some of the meaty pizza selections are über oily but really satisfy the craving for meat. My fave is actually a vegetarian choice with potatoes and fontina. Although modest, the beer selection is as thoughtful as the pizza toppings. And equally delicious. Service(when not busy) is attentive and food prep is speedy. Their alter and much smaller, but similarly styled location(the original) is in Harvard square.

If you like your pizza a little healthier, thin crust, not alot of cheese… this is the place for you. This place reminds me of the pizza I had in Italy. My friend recommended this place recently when we were trying to figure out what to have for a dinner date. I told her I was craving pizza and she sent me Cambridge 1’s menu and I was really curious to try it. We went on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. There were maybe 4 people in there when we entered and loads more when we left. First impression was that it smelled like a brick oven, which I liked at first until my friend commented that we were probably going to smell like that when we left. And we did. The décor… well, there really wasn’t any, except for some TVs flipped to ESPN and other sports channels. The seating was also quite strange, they were like elevated wood booths that could probably fit about 10 people… but we’re not here to evaluate the atmosphere, we’re here to talk about food. We ordered two half pizzas: My friend ordered #3, the roasted onion, tomato, fontina, romano, chili oil and I ordered #7, the tossed baby arugula, fontina, parmigiano, which the server described as a «salad on a pizza» which it definitely was. I really liked mine. You could taste the parmigiano cheese, which definitely paired well with the arugula. I actually felt healthy eating a pizza for once. As far as I could tell, there was no sauce on the pizza, it was just cheese. I usually don’t like thin crust pizzas but this one was okay. I didn’t like my friend’s as much, but I’m not the biggest fan of roasted onion. I’m assuming she liked it since she finished it all! I was also craving a salad so I ordered the iceberg lettuce wedge with roasted shallot dressing, which the server described as a «very basic» salad, and it was. You basically got half a head of iceberg lettuce, which was topped with a very intense dressing and lots of shredded carrot. I didn’t like it at all… perhaps if there was a better dressing I would have enjoyed it more. All in all, I might come back here for the pizza if I’m in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here.

Looked hip as I passed during a day game so I swung by after a late night at the hospital. Atmosphere= bland. Smell= smoky as in a fire and not flavorful. Ordered the iceberg salad and the grilled steak pizza. The salad dressing was overpowering and one bite is all I could handle before pushing it away. Then the pizza came… completely with a mound of arugula… not a little but like friggin Mount Wachusett. Not good. The Wachusett ale was a highlight.

Ohhhhh, man. This place is the s**t. And I’m not even kidding. Now everytime I come back to Boston, I make it a point to come here. The beer is fantastic and the pizza even more so. I remember the fateful day the first time I came in with my group of 3 friends: «This is it for the menu?» «The decoration — or lack thereof — is kinda funky» «I don’t get it.» Little did we know that their pizza is THEBEST you will EVER have(if you like thin crust charcoal grilled pizza, that is). The flavor combinations are amazing — and their red sauce is just the perfect amount of tartness and sweetness. My favorite is the number 8 — the bolognese meat sauce, while my used-to-be roommate’s is the number 2 — italian sausage and ricotta cheese. They offer pizza either in «half»(about 4 – 5 square slices) or «whole»(about 8 square slices) portions — and let me tell you, the pizza is so fantastic I can eat a «half» all by myself(don’t even try and steal a slice). Thank god we ventured into the unassuming Cambridge 1 that day, because I would never have discovered pizza as delicious as this.

i feel as if i should eat here more often, on account of the fact that i like the food so much, it’s a nice place to sit and eat, they have a good beer list, and always looks so quiet outside of weekends and Sox games. So i want to make sure they stay in business. Alas, it’s tough to get friends to cross the river, so i never get to eat in my neighborhood often enough. The pizza is really excellent, with outstanding toppings, good sauce and cheese, and perfectly done. They may tell you they’re good to split, but with any sort of reasonable appetite, you can probably take one down singlehandedly. (Makes mental note to see if they’ll put soccer on for me this summer so i can eat more pizza)

Meh… A little place with boujie pizza that had us eating again later that night. A huge selection of beer and wine though. It wasn’t until much later that I was told they have a menu on the wall featuring their specials for the day– that must have been the wall to my back.

I am a huge fan of any establishment that serves Saranac Pomegranate Wheat beer and the fact that they specialize in super thin crust gourmet pizza makes this place one of my favorites for a casual night with my fellow upstate NY college buddies. After drinking Saranac pom wheat for most of my college experience — the brewery was right down the road, it’s a real treat to be able to find one of the more elusive Saranac varieties here in Bostonl I love the rustic décor – high top slate tables and the smell of the brick charcoal fire oven is drool worthy for any pizza fanatic. My favorite is the grilled steak, arugula, cherry tomatoes and blue cheese – and when you top it with their great olive oil that is on the table, its delish. Another huge plus… they are right next door to Berryline!

the pizza is meh, i actually don’t think it should be called pizza, its more flat bread with stuff on top of it. It’s tasty don’t get me wrong, and there are some interestingly delicious topping combos. The place gets an A-Ok for the ambiance. I like the décor, the booths, the open kitchen and it’s alright for a drink afterwork, better than the dive bars on the otherside of Longwood… The customer service, was apathetic. The hostess seated us. The waitress took our order.(please add emphasis to the periods) The Tues night I went on wasn’t even busy. I don’t need you to dote on me, but pretend to like your job(hostess) and please ask me if I need more water at least once in 2 hours(waitress).

The restaurant options around Landmark are pretty much limited to somewhat fancy fast food fare(Panera, UFood, Chipotle, etc.). Cambridge 1 is a nice break from that — it’s someplace you can sit down and be served and relax. The food here is so so so good. I have never gotten anything I don’t like. My two favorite pizzas are the potato one(#5) and the chicken one with the red pepper sauce or whatever(#6). They also have a pretty good beer selection, which always helps a restaurant’s case. My only real problem is that service … well, service sucks. They always seem understaffed or something. Last night we had to wait over 10 minutes to even get a waitress to come over. Yes, it was busy, but it still shouldn’t have been that long. However, the food is so good, I am more than willing to put up with slow service so I can eat flatbread covered in cheese and potato. Carbo-loading-goodness!

I have lived across the street from Cambridge 1 in Fenway for 3 years now and only discovered this delightful neighborhood gem about a year ago. I’m not a huge pizza eater so this pizza joint didn’t really appeal to me, but one night my boyfriend and I decided to check it out, and I fell in love. You walk in and instantly feel at home with the large welcoming bar tables and if you’re looking for a more intimate setting, there’s a dining room area as well. The wrap around bar is large enough for big crowds and serves home made cheese, garlic, and red pepper flake bread sticks.(Yes, these are as amazing as they sound) I can usually be found at the bar with a glass of red wine and full cup of bread sticks. The chicken salad with balsamic vinaigrette is THEBEST I’ve had. A hefty portion of fresh romaine, perfectly grilled chicken, homemade garlic croûtons, and their house balsamic. YUM. The pizza is also fantastic — baked on thin crust and charcoal-grilled, I haven’t ordered one I didn’t love. The range of toppings and options is endless. The beer selection is exactly what you would want from an upscale pizza place and there’s plenty of wine options as well.

I worked across from the Harvard Square location for a year and ate there once, late at night and barely remembered it. When I started working in the Fenway area, this location hit my «must try» list. Which I finally did last night, with Rachel C. I arrived early(5 ish) and was told to pick my seat. I sat in one of the higher tables and was glad I did, as the smoke over the shorter tables looked a bit much as the evening went on. When Rach arrived, we each got a beer(she got Narragansett, I got Allagash White — very nice! Light, refreshing — totally hit the spot). We then shared a salad and large pizza, all of which we devoured! For the salad, we went with the bibb lettuce, grape tomatoes, cilantro, gorgonzola, dijon vinaigrette. The dressing was a bit heavy and the cheese, while good, was big globs on the plate. I prefer crumbled cheese on my salads, not smooth. Still good though! For the pizza, we did half grilled chicken, roasted red pepper, mozzarella, romano and half artichoke & spinach(it’s not on the online menu for some reason…). Both were very flavorful and tasty. The thin crust was NOT burnt, but it did have that charred flavor/look that wood-grilled pizza gets. If you don’t like that, don’t eat wood-grilled, thin-crust pizza! Overall, it came out to $ 48 with tip/tax, which is a bit much, but we did get a lot of food. I would definitely go back, but would prob go across the street to Upper Crust first, where I get a discount with my Charlie Card. :)

I am a huge fan of the restaurants this group has(Miracle, Audubon…), and Cambridge 1 is no exception. Very neat place, big and spacious with the signature slate counters and tables. The food here is just middle of the road in my opinion. Nothing special, but not bad either. I like the concept of different types of pizzas though. Nice to have a place near Fenway that mixes it up. FYI, half pizzas are more than enough for one person. If I have my choice between this or Audubon Circle before a Sox game, I’d definitely take the walk to Audubon.

I’m a big fan of thin crust pizza, interesting flavor combos, and chill vibe, and Cambridge 1 has all of the above. I had their potato pizza which was pretty tasty with 2 types of potatoes(sliced and mashed, chaos!). To be critical, it was a bit one-note and could have used something else(not sure what, maybe roasted red peppers or something?), but I’m a sucker for potatoes anyways so I was decently happy. Love the thin char-grilled crust(and the smell of the pizza cooking, mmm). Service was standard, atmosphere was relaxed but classy, pitchers of beer are a plus. Menu is a bit limited, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I’m not adding Cambridge 1 to my regular rotation of restaurants, but I’d certainly be happy to go back if someone else suggested it and/or we were about to head over to a movie.

4.5 star pizza, 4 star ambiance, 2 star service. Thanks to rounding, we’ve got ourselves a 4 star review. If you’re not able to get pizza cooked in a wood-fired clay or brick oven, get your pizza grilled. You get the char of a Frank Pepe’s and the flavor of a Santarpio’s in about 3 or 4 minutes flat. There are a wealth of pizza options that can be ordered in either a half or a whole, which is certainly a nice touch. Why anyone would order a half, I don’t know. The downfall of the thin, delectable crust and artful, deliberate placement of toppings is that you’ll need a whole to fill you. You’ll be eating your pizza in a very pleasant atmosphere, airy but dark, with LCDs above the bar showing whatever sport is on at the time. It’s certainly not crowded on a weeknight, but based on the location I could imagine it packs on weekends. The only downfall was the service, in the form of a bemused waitress that forgot a pair of waters and couldn’t muster a smile. Forgivable, but it did take away from an otherwise excellent meal. I’d recommend the place, as you will taste pizza you may have never tasted before.

Mmm… the smell of charcoal right when you walk in, yummm. I wanted to give this place 4 stars but I’m going to go with 3. The salad I got was very delicious(grilled chicken & romaine salad) but I wished there were more healthy/veg options on the menu instead of pizza. The ambiance was very nice but was dead on a Monday night. Service was spotty which should never be the case for a restaurant that only has a handful of guests. Has a cool vibe though, I noted aloud that it had a more Harvard/Davis Square feel than Fenway. May repeat if I’m ever in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way.

The only thing that would make this place 5 stars is if they served their pizzas by the slice. This charcoal grilled thin crust pizza isn’t topped by the traditional sauce and cheese. They have a great selection of toppings like lobster, arugala, and roasted onion. My favorite by far is the potato pizza(#5). Pair that with the bibb lettuce salad and I’ve got the best lunch in Fenway.

I f – kin’ love this place. My low expectation might have helped to grant 5 stars but… I had a great time. First, I was little worried by that they didn’t have any appetizer. So we decided to have«baby arugula, shaved asiago, simple italian dressing» salad instead. Yes, it was a bit pricey for salad. Quantity wasn’t so big, but if you shift your appreciation to freshness and taste, I thought that pricing was fair. It was nicely chilled and crispy fresh. Dressing wasn’t overwhelming hence I was still able to enjoy the flavor of actual produce. For pizza, we ordered full size of «italian sausage, ricotta, tomato, fontina». One reviewer complained this dish had too much sausage. But I found the quantity of sausage was very generous and never be too much of sausage if you ask for one. The dough was nice and chewy. It could be my personal preference, but I love chewy pizza dough. Of course, the edge crust was crispy. That is a «must». We were satisfied but that first dish made us wanted more. And we ordered«grilled chicken, roasted red pepper, mozzarella, romano». This was also absolutely gorgeous. Their beer selection is also something I praise about. They have pretty good quantity of local micro brew. I had a Wachusett Country Ale and it tasted great. First I was a bit worried when I found the size of menu being small. But I later felt that they did great job to refine the selection and they did not miss my need at all. Good beer, refreshing salad and great pizzas… I am so happy to find such a great joint in my neighborhood.
