Came here a week ago with a friend when it was still gorgeous outside. We sat outside and had a beer while waiting for our salads, and i gotta say location is perfect to chat outside while enjoying the weather and looking at by passers. Waitress was really nice and helpful to decide which beer to get(ended up getting peak pale ale), and the salad was delicious!!! I had the caprese salad, which had sliced tomato, fresh mozzarella & basil leaves with oil and sweet balsamic vinegar. The presentation was beautiful and portion was just right for a light dinner. Would definitely come back again when it’s nice out :)

I’ve been here a few times with friends thanks to scoumob and the 20% check in discount! The pizza is good, we’ve had the vegetarian which I thought was average, but we’ve also had the mushroom pizza which was delicious love a cheesy pizza with mushroom! We always share the spinach and artichoke dip which comes with pita bread. Dip is good, but nothing to rave about. The ambiance is nice and service is always good. I love the random food quotes on the wall. They have a nice beer and wine selection as well. Good spot in Back Bay!

I came here to use my ScoutMob 50% off discount and it was great! I love how they value local ingredients and their service is super friendly and prompt. The sweet potato fries MELTINYOURMOUTH. I made up my own flatbread– fig spread, goat cheese, & chicken… it was delicious… the other half was the butternut sqaush pizza and I have had much better elsewhere… next time I will stick with my fig concoction! And I want to try to the meatball appetizer!

Service is pretty good. Food is impressive. Would visit again! The meatball appetizer is really good, seasoned properly and the tomato sauce unlike some cheap and fake Italian restaurants. The ravioli was actually maybe a little less cooked than al Dante. But it’s not bad. But the sauce is actually a great mix of garlic and nuts. Great flavor. The grilled apple cake is definitely awesome. Never had anything like this but this is really«hot cake». Portion for this dessert is pretty big compared to appetizer and entrée. Thanks to Scout Mob we went here. Without it, it could be on the pricier side. It would be a good idea to do a 3 course dinner here but it will cost you ~$ 30 per person without drinks.

I’ve always walked past this place under the assumption that outside of a very small handful of self-vetted locations, the restaurants in the Back Bay are overpriced and underwhelming. Should’ve gone with my instinct. A 50% Scoutmob brought us here for some pizza on a Saturday night. The meatball appetizer was tasty, and the corn and bacon pizza was fresh and hot, but tasted like hot bread and nothing else. I shouldn’t have to put salt on my own pizza. Say what you will about Dominos, I’ve never felt it was under-seasoned(probably on account of each slice having ~200% your daily sodium requirement). Service felt half-assed and we had to ask for our check.

Got an additional star for the background music they play in this joint — R&B, blues. . any place that plays some Badu and Temptations gets a star in my case. Biggest problem is they are a bit expensive, but I don’t even like pizza much and their Fatboy was off the chain. The salmon and risotto, I’m taking it, was delicious too. So this place has desserts, and holy smokes Batman. . the warm apple cake with vanilla ice cream comes delightfully with strawberries, blueberries and sliced apples… mmm, it was like heaven. Seriously. The place is pretty small and cramped, but they manage a good amount of takeout and dine-in to where it wasn’t particularly cramped. It’s a bit too dark in there for my liking(there’s stuff I wanted to read, but wasn’t decently lighted), but otherwise a good experience.

It’s funny, boyfriend used to live on this street and we would walk by this place a million times. Thanks to Scoutmob, we went in this time and ordered the meatball app and the corn+bacon pizza. Meatball on foccacia was delicious, though woefully a little small(I wanted more)! Our pizza sounded delicious but unfortunately did not taste it. The crust was great, the sweet spot between crispy and soft with structure… But the cheese was bland, and there was so little corn/bacon that the whole pizza was like eating dough. a lot of dough. Womp womp. Certainly edible, but if that’s all I wanted I would order Dominos(which is what one of Cafe47’s neighbors did as we walked in). Was so disappointed by the pizza we skipped dessert. And the waitress never checked on us so we had to wave her down a long time after finishing our food to get our check.

I live nearby, so I’ve had many of their pizzas. Everything tastes good. Service is friendly. Takeout is always ready quickly. Very reliable and delicious.

As a Chicagoain, I was severely disappointed by some of the Pizza selections in Boston. «What do you mean you didn’t put ½ lb of mozzarella on this pizza?! Can you even call it a pizza then?». Yes. I’m serious. Enter Café 47. With everything I read on the menu, I was increasingly impressed. They label everything on the menu that is grown locally, so you can eat your meaty, cheese ridden pizza without feeling the guilt of knowing that the cheese came from 1,000 miles away. They also label the organic items. ANDTHEN I saw the wine/beer menu. Yes. They also labeled the local craft beers and wines. I nearly died. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Not only were they in support of local farmers and small breweries, but the food was out of this world. I saw that many of the customers were ordering takeout, so I know that must be where they do most of their business. That being said the interior décor was very intimate, and as I ate in I would recommend that. The staff was friendly and service was prompt.

I went to Café 47 last week and I had no idea it even existed until I received the Scout Mob 50% off deal. The place itself is small, but really cute and fun. It seems like it would be a great place to grab a few drinks on a Thursday or Friday night after work. I got the calamari pizza which is covered in fried calamari. I was not a huge fan of how much fried food they put on top, but it was pretty good after I picked off about 90% of the calamari. I wish I had ordered something else. It wasn’t bad, just not what I was in the mood for. My favorite part of the whole meal was DESSERT. If you go here, you must get the grilled banana bread dessert. Literally the best thing I have ever had. The bread itself is great, but the ice cream and the strawberries made it awesome. It was a nice change from the regular super chocolaty desserts that restaurants usually have. I will definitely be back here again, mostly because I want to try one of their other dishes!

I’ve been back twice in the past week(thank you, Scoutmob 50% off deal!), and I’m sticking with my 4 stars. Weekend brunch menu is limited but hits all the classics… a scramble with your choice of 3 toppings that comes with perfectly crisp chunks of roasted potatoes comes in at $ 8(4 with Scoutmob) and my creamy hot cocoa had a delicious whipped cream topping. The boy was happy with his breakfast sandwich on focaccia with the same potatoes. Dinner last night was a large pizza for 2, half corn and bacon(just as tasty as the original), and half the special of the night: pulled duck, carmelized onions, ricotta, and a cabernet honey. Yup, just as amazing as it sounds… I wish they would put this on the regular menu, it was pretty spectacular. The blueberry sangria was also delicious. The place was packed but we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table, and our waitress was friendly, smooth, and attentive. And the commitment to locally sourced food? Love it. A solid choice for any meal, in my opinion.

Yummy sangria! Try the house sangria it is delicious. The peach bellini was a fail. The peach mush at the bottom tasted old and it was an expensive drink too so steer clear. The pizza is amazing! It has a great dough. They are pretty big in size! We ordered the Margerita pizza.

Pizza comes in interesting styles, and they let you do half and half without a problem. I liked the mushroom lovers. Good bottled beer selection but poor on the draught(npi). Tables were a too crowded for a restaurant trying to be a little romantic, and the Pandora station playing on their speakers got to me. I loved watching everyone’s meatballs slowly fall off their pesto focaccia appetizers. Café 47 on Mass Ave, not related to Café 472 on Commonwealth nor Tremont 647 in the South End.

This place is awesome. That is the best way to describe it. I came here the first night while on vacation. I was looking for something that was relatively inexpensive, not busy, not dressy, but very tasty. This was the perfect place. We arrived here on a Monday night around 8:45 in the middle of July. While other restaurants on close by newbury street were packed with people and on the expensive side, this place was a hidden gem. It is a couple blocks away from the hustle of the newbury crowd so when we walked in there was plenty of tables with no wait. We had very quick service and the waitress was SUPER friendly. I like that. We ordered a couple local beers while we read over the menu. I saw that this place was supposed to be a heath conscious place and I got kinda worried cause I’m a bigger guy from California who likes tasty and hearty food. A lot of this food was organic and some was gluten free. Me and my friend ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, a small margarita pizza, and a fat-boy pizza. The dip came out first, as it should and it was quite possibly the best spinach and artichoke dip I’ve ever had in my life. The freshness of the ingredients were not only noticeable via taste but you could see whole spinach leaves. It was thick but still way healthier than the norm. The pizzas came out next… these too were great. The freshness was obvious again. The crusts were deep dish style but were not greasy at all which was great. The cheese was perfect without tons of grease. I need to mention that I would have expected a much more expensive bill but even with a couple beers, two pizzas and an app, our bill was under $ 50. This is great too!!! All in all, I would eat here every week if I lived in Boston. This place is great if you want to get away from the crowds. It only has beer and wine so if you need a cocktail you’ll have to go elsewhere. GOHERE!

Café 47 is a small, cozy Italian place tucked next to Sweet Cupcakes on Massachusetts Ave. We ended up here by chance because we were hungry and really couldn’t agree on any type of food. I really loved the atmosphere of Café 47; it was dimly lit and there were candles in jars on each table giving the dining experience a cozy, intimate feel. There was no wait on a Saturday at 9 pm & they had the Sox game on at the bar(good for people who want a nice, intimate dinner without having to miss the game!). I took away one star because the waitress, though nice, made me feel slightly uneasy and like we were being watched. I ordered the mango basil white wine sangria and it was absolutely fantastic. Sweet and light with a hint of basil and the added bonus of boozed up chunks of mango as «dessert». Dinner consisted of the corn & bacon pizza for the bf and the grilled chicken carbonara for me. I absolutely loved my pasta, though I’d hesitate to call it a true carbonara because the sauce was so saucy. Either way it was still really great and surprisingly spicy and peppery. And the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, something I really really appreciate. The pizza was surprisingly light for a pizza and had a nice balance of sweet roasted corn and salty bacon, with large shavings of parm cheese on top. The crust was a little weird, it almost reminded me of a less greasy version of pizza hut crust, but it complemented the toppings well. I’d def eat here again.

Café 47 is better than ever. I’m a regular(at least once a week) and am super impressed with some of the changes they’ve recently made. Most notably is the new pizza menu. There is a pizza with mushrooms and balsamic glaze that is TODIEFOR. You absolutely have to try it! Thanks Café 47 for being my go-to after work destination for warm & relaxed dining.

Standard«gourmet» thick-crust pizzas at great prices. A great place to pop into on a non-busy weeknight if you’re craving some standard American fare in Boston. $ 8 for a small pizza(which is enough for a VERY hungry person, I always take leftovers home) and $ 14 for a large pizza makes this a really affordable joint. The topping combinations are creative and delicious. I would recommend the prosiutto, pear & gorgonzola pizza(although quite different from its CPK counterpart). The calamari is also good — less emphasis on the batter and more emphasis on the squid! Just the way I like it! The bruschetta is a bit disappointing, though. Also $ 4.50 drafts are comparable to other prices in the area. They also serve ~$ 15 entrees but I can’t speak to them. I’ve been here on weeknights when the food comes out really quickly and service is brisk and friendly. But it gets pretty busy on Friday/Saturday evenings. Even though there were a few open tables, it took our party of 2 about 30 minutes to get our appetizer, and an additional 20 minutes for the entrees(just a burger and a pizza). A big plus is they have 2 outdoor tables and night lighting overhead so as the sun goes down and you are still waiting the enormous length of time to get your food, you can still see your friend across the table and people-watch at the same time! Lastly, the ambiance inside is really cute and well-done. I loved Despina’s but they’ve really done the place up since then!

The suggestion of sweet potato fries has an ability to lure me to restaurants I haven’t been to before. But, I do have to find something else interesting on the menu to actually step in through the door. In the case of Café 47, it was their Eggplant Rollatini $ 8. Oh, yeah, and was I satisfied with both picks! The eggplant rolls were served two to an order of hot crispy cheeseyness in a good red sauce. The pile of crispy light sweet potato fries $ 3.50 served with a tasty honey mustard that was remniscient(to me anyhow, and only in color) of the cheese sauce served on the side of nachos in the movie theater. Now that we have already eaten, enjoyed, and digested our meal, I realize that we had over-erred on the side of caution by ordering our Spinach & Bacon Pizza $ 14 with caramelized onions thrown in(At no extra charge! Nice!) as a large, rather than as a small for $ 8. This was served on a pan to keep it hot and crisp, and lifted off the table on a wire rack to save table space for our fries which we were still picking at. Parmesan cheese and red pepper flake shakers were brought over without us needing to request them. Since we had already tamed the edge of our appetites with the fries and eggplant, and I had my eye on a specific dessert that was listed first on their dessert blackboard by the bar, we could only manage to consume two slices of the pizza each, while plotting to take 2 slices home apiece. The crust of our pie was the thin and crispy sort. Okay, dessert… Caramel Banana Cheesecake $ 5… doesn’t that sound good? Not quite like an eggroll, more like a thin pastry wrapped roll of melty creamy goodness, served beside a swirl of whipped cream. Sweet, yet not too sweet. Yum! Too bad it isn’t on their regular dessert menu — must have been a daily special. Service was friendly and pleasant. Bathrooms were individual ones per gender and found in the back left, similarly colored as with the rest of the establishment and plenty clean enough. Just wish they had a hook in the ladies’ room.

Ended up going there one night for a work-related meeting with a friend. We were headed towards Newberry street and this place was on the way; it was perfectly located and had good reviews. I had been wanting to go there for a while. We proceeded to park and walked into the establishment and glanced at a menu both at the end above the counter and also on our table. They have a very nice selection from burgers to pizzas, salads and sandwiches, amongst other things. They also have risottos, fish dishes and pasta dishes. Oh and did I mention the liquor license? Personnaly I settled for a diet coke and a pizza which featured gorgozonla, pears and proschiutto. The staff was friendly but were inconsistent with their service; they forgot about us for a while and also seemed confused as to who was taking care of us. It was very awkward, especially since we came late on a Sunday night and very few patrons were present. But I digress, the food was awesome and the prices good. I shall definitely return in the future, especially since their menu is very refreshing, especially in an area where most places are both expensive and not always as casual.

When my monthly dinner group was shut out of our intended venue by a hockey game at Fenway, this place saved the day with friendly, accomodating, if chaotic service. Everyone expressed thier«kudos for fitting our [13-person, reservationless] group» last minute, but diners were conflicted over the«average» to «better than expected» food. Some noted certain things were delicious, while the pizza was pretty abysmal. There was«slow», «poorly timed» service which was surely due to the large group slamming the kitchen all at once; something they are not really setup for. But they ran out of steak tips, and brought out some orders late or to the wrong party. But again, they were trying hard and so NICE about fitting us in, it’s hard to ding them for this. The place had a very«bland» décor; and suffers from frequent«blasts of cold» from the door«in need of a heavy curtain.»(One diner mentioned he wanted to go to Bed Bath and Beyond and get them one.) While it’s a «nice neighborhood café» with some good food(if you stick to the basics — my steak tips were excellent!), our group clearly«overwhelmed them. Though they«tried hard,» but might be better for a «meeting a couple friends to hang out» Also of note: despite a group of 13, they didn’t tack on a mandatory tip, which was incredibly refreshing.

I was so upset to see that Despinas closed. I live in the 500 block of Beacon when I first moved up to Boston. Despinas was between work/school and home so it became my go to place for a slice or veggie lasagna. I was quite hesitant about trying Café 47 because I ‘knew’ it could not be as good. Well, Café 47 has kept the great pizza that I loved and has expanded to a great menu! Plus they serve really good drinks now! I went to Café 47 early on last week for Unilocal office hours. We were served a few types of great pizza and 3 sangria’s. Of the drinks we had my favorite was the Marlborough Mint, a sauvignon blanc with oranges and mint, because the herb and fruit was so fresh. I told Boyfriend how impressed I was the Café 47 keeping the same pizza recipe, that they now serve alcohol, refreshed space, and a bigger menu. Not wanting to miss out on anything he suggested it the next time we had class. So after class we went over for a late dinner. We got there @ 10.10 and they told us they were only serving pizza– they close at 11. I was really disappointed to hear this since I really wanted a simple wedge salad and I just had their pizza 2 days before. Our waitress checked to see if they put the salad stuff away, which I appreciated, but still no salad. We still enjoyed our spinach, bacon, tomato pizza though. I’ll have to come back earlier to try something else so I can revise my review.
