Brookline Village MBTA Station – Green Line D

I have a love-​hate relationship with the green line (love: it exists. hate: everything else), but Brookline Village is one of the better stations. It has several fare machines so you can reload or buy a Charlie Card, as well as large shelters to protect you from the wind and cold. Digital marquee signs hang above the platforms, which you might think would display when the next train will arrive, but if you thought that you’d be wrong — green line trains don’t have that technology. The signs merely let you know when there are delays due to disabled trains, but often the delay message itself is so delayed that by the time it informs you of a delay (after you’ve been waiting 20 minutes for a train that is supposed to come every 7), the delay is nearly resolved and the train is only a few minutes away.
If you get on at Brookline Village during rush hour you most likely will not get a seat, but take note: a lot of people disembark at the next stop (Longwood) so if you’re paying attention (i.e. stalking the seat of the person who is putting on their gloves or sunglasses), you might get a seat for the rest of your ride.

I use the Brookline village t stop to get to
my acupuncturist at Gracie holistic health.
Its above ground, with many users waiting in line.
There’s a tiny shelter, which is always crowded,
So you can imagine the freezing, shivering,
7 minute wait to be rescued by the next train
From December through March every year.
The deal: It’s a cute little town, thankfully.
So, the people at the station have always been nice.
At least you feel safe well you freeze your b*** off!
