A close friend of mine was hit by a car while riding a bike. He was tranferred to BWH and had excellent care in the ICU. When he got to the general nursing floor, the staff was rude, they had an attitude that the family was bothersome to ask any questions and they were careless in their care. For example, the dietary expectation was that he would eat close to 2500 calories a day, and the dietician had no concern when he had only 700 at 4pm… also, he had been a patient for 7 days and no one had recorded a bowel movement… because he hadn’t had one and no one thought this was important. He didn’t get his pain medication on time, he didn’t get out of bed unless his wife or the PT got him out… I could go on. I am a registered nurse and I was apalled that this was the kind of care he received at a Partner’s facility. If you are unlucky enough to have to go to BWH I’d suggest you work with the Patient advocacy as soon as you’re admitted to be sure you will receive the care you deserve

My wife had one of her surgeries here. I can’t say I was real happy about the waiting room, but my wife was well taken care of. She actually had two of surgeries here and both were handled with the utmost in care.
