This is a very quaint and charming local eatery that is right around the corner from us. Today we had brunch and the Poached Eggs were superb, as were the Beacon Hill Breakfast and the Vanilla Pancakes. Coffee was delicious and the fresh squeezed OJ was a nice touch. Fantastic server(Jamie) and GM(Deb) treated us like royalty. Thank you! We need to come here more often. If you’re on Charles St, this brunch is a MUST!

Very quaint friendly place. Not the overcrowded restaurant vibe, neighborhood regulars at bar enjoying conversation, cocktails and apps. Stopped in on a sunday night, had a great meal with family and some great cocktails. Kudos to Chris behind bar and the rest of the staff. Beautiful neighborhood as well.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having dinner here there other night and we were both thrilled with the entire evening. The staff was welcoming and extremely attentive, without being overbearing. The food presentation and flavors were outstanding. Our favorites were the pâté(which melted in your mouth) and crusty bread! The duck confit, OMG! Each bite was better than the last! We didn’t get a chance to have dessert as we tried so many things. We will definitely be back!

This was my 3rd trip to Boston and, quite honestly, I have never been a fan of Boston. I have always found the people and the experience to be cold. Not so with this trip and staying at Beacon Hill Hotel and Bistro. I found EVERYONE I encountered here to be very warm, friendly, and helpful. Yes, it is a quaint hotel. But that made the stay more interesting. It felt more like staying in the guest room at a friend’s house than staying at a hotel. But totally in a good way. Rooms are not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, but they are comfortable and have the things you need. And food and drinks were also very good. And you can’t beat the location. Some may not like it, but hearing the city sounds made it feel like real Boston. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoy this spot for brunch, and it’s one of the places we have on our to-frequent list. The duck confit’s really good — love the touch of the shishito peppers! I also prefer the brunch potatoes here to other places because I like my potatoes hugeee. Another plus is that you can freely substitute potatoes for a nice leafy side salad if you’re in a more healthy mood. And the number one reason it’s on our routine list is that I’m OBSESSED with their giant sourdough slices. I love sourdough more than I love my mom, so oversized, chunky, airy sourdough with that extra sour/tangy taste? UGH. Take all my moneys! That said, there are a few caveats that stop this place from being higher rated: If you get there earlier for brunch, great. But otherwise, there’s a long wait(fine) and rather bad/confused service. Then there’s a consistency issue: First time I went, I got the smoked salmon scrambled eggs and it was dainty, great flavor, nice amount of salmon, etcetc. I ordered the same thing maybe two weeks later and the eggs came floating in a huge pool of oil and I’m not sure it even had crème fraîche in it that time. so if you go here, it’s a toss-up between which version of the food comes out that day. Finalllly…they charge 4.5 for a plain coffee. I can get an overpriced Starbucks right down the street with extra macchiato whipped cream or whatever for less than that. We’re not scrapping for pennies or anything, but I can’t help but feel like there’s something morally wrong with that price scheme.

We found Beacon Hill Bistro from the Boston Globe list of restaurants doing New Years Eve events. We made reservations online, a few days ahead, and when we arrived(10 minutes early) they sat us early. We were not aware of the spectacular meal awaiting us. We went for the full experience — the three course prix fix meal, the supplement course and the suggested wine pairing. We were blown away. We had the crab bisque with scallops(so delicious) and the duck sausage with lentils for the appetizer, the venison and the pheasant(at the recommendation of the waiter), and the dessert of Yuzu curd and pear tart. Everything was amazing on its own, but the wine recommendations took it all to a whole other level! The supplemental course with white port was where time stopped for us, the rest of the meal carried us to the end. This is by far the best meal we have ever had and worth every penny. We can not recommend the restaurant and the chef enough. We were fortunate enough to be able to tell the owner this as well.

Brought my company(8 people) here last Friday for a Christmas dinner and everybody really enjoyed the whole experience. The food was excellent through-out, especially the Venison stood out, the service was attentive, engaged and fun. The noise level in the restaurant is a little to high for my taste but we’re a rowdy bunch so it’s as much on us as it is on them. Highly recommended!

Overall: 4 Food: 4 Service: 4 Value: 3 Decent brunch place. Came here with 2 others on a Sunday around noon and there was about a 20 minute wait. I had a smoke salmon bagel and some eggs with meat. The bagel was a little tough, but overall the food was solid, though not extraordinary.

We hated this place. It’s hard to really enjoy the food when the service is GODAWFUL. Not that there was much to be enjoyed… Meat plate was disgusting it looked like spam. The salad was just a few pieces of lettuce slapped on a plate. Our waiter basically ignored us until I made a loud comment about having an empty wine glass then all of the sudden they were throwing bread at us and all up in our biz for the rest of the night.

Came here for restaurant week in Boston and the place is alright but nothing special. It’s a small intimate venue that’d be nice for a date night or celebratory dinner. The staff was really friendly but the service was a bit slow. The food was good but nothing memorable. I planned to order the duck but they ran out of that, so I settled for the roast chicken breast which was cooked nicely and tasted fine. However, the dessert was a huge disaster. They ran out of two of the desserts. I ended up getting the strawberry trifle and it was chalky and tasteless. My friend ordered the brownie sundae it had small pieces of brownie and cookie in it but they were both dry and seemed old. However, I really appreciated the chefs honesty when he came out and told us they were having difficulties with their desserts and brought us both Crème Brûlées, which tasted great. I’m hoping the let down was because it was restaurant week and they overwhelmed but I’ll pass on coming here again.

The place is really cute and small but they accommodated our group perfectly. We all did the tasting menu which was delicious — highly suggest the gnocchi and the other items. They were able to accommodate our meal restrictions easily. Go here for an easily affordable tasting menu.

We wanted to love this place as we are new to the neighborhood. We frequent the bar for a quick drink/appetizer. I have come to love their chicken soup. However, when we finally committed to a full dinner there, we were very disappointed. It took 35 minutes for a burger, a chicken soup and a gem salad in an empty restaurant. When my soup arrived, it was a quarter of the size of their usual portion; clearly I got the last portion. The waiter gave me a hard time for not ordering a second glass of wine… who does that? That said, the food(even my bottom of the barrel soup) was good. For a 70 dollar bill, service and execution need work. We would be open to giving it another shot.

I used to love this place. What happened? The heirloom tomato appetizer with puréed basil was an underripe supermarket type. The basil purée was a few stingy green droplets. The crabcake app was very good. the wine by the glass was dumped into the glass without the usual taste before getting the full glass. the angry looking server in the main room was making way too much eye contact.

Went for restaurant week, and while charmed by the general ambiance and the character of Charles st, the meal left for wanting. Between my wife and I, we sampled the tuna and duck confit apps, the pork tenderloin and risotto entrees, and brownie and peach cobbler desserts. The highs: The duck confit was the best thing we had. Crispy skin, tender meat and a bone you pull out clean. A+. The risotto was a creamy summer corn dish that we could have eaten all night. A perfect light summer meal. The lows: The pork tenderloin could be described as polite. No bold or boastful flavors. Alone, the pork seemed under seasoned, and wish the carrot and orange purée, it had some flavor added, but not enough to leave me wanting more of the dish. All that being said, I would go back and try the normal menu, as rest. Week won’t always highlight the high points of a restaurant.

Unaware of their own ineptitude, the servers are jolly and apparently good friends. They help each other empty trash bins in the aisle between the tables(super appetizing!), apologize for themselves and each other when they forget – the diet coke, the coffee, the salt and pepper, the mimosa – again. Food is average at best. Sent back cold eggs and despaired of ever seeing our server again. Our waitress has the annoying nurse habit of saying«we» instead of «you.» How are we doing? WE are leaving and never coming back.

Went for bfast this morning with my son, first there is no brunch so not sure why it says that. The food was whatever, very strange bfast menu. I think it’s more like a menu of; this is what’s left over from dinner service so let’s just add some eggs and pancakes and call it breakfast/brunch. Wouldn’t come back. Our waiter was a upitty little prick as well, for some reason maybe because we were wearing shorts or the tattoos this guy had a attitude… Ur a waiter and not a very good one working Sunday mornings, RELAX!

Hotel review: We’ve stayed here twice now. It’s a European-style hotel — tiny rooms, only a dozen or so. It’s cute, and reminds me of the days we lived in Beacon Hill — including the ability to hear your neighbors, the garbage trucks in the alley at 6am, and the sometimes dicey water pressure. It could use some TLC in the bathrooms(shower caulk, paint, etc) but nothing egregious. It is comfortable and cute. There is a cute little roof deck overlooking Charles Street, and of course, the bistro/bar downstairs. Perhaps because I have such nostalgia for my Beacon Hill years, I really enjoy staying here. If you’re looking for a spiffy new, spacious hotel room, look elsewhere. But if you’re looking for a complete Beacon Hill experience, and a great walking location, this is a great spot. We’ll be back.

I love the location of Beacon Hill — right on Charles St. which is a very cute street in Boston. I went here this past Monday for brunch with my bf and his sis. We were excited that we were able to take advantage of Boston’s Restaurant week. We immediately got served coffee and water. Service was great. We all decided to do the REST week menu. I had the Caesar salad which was nice it came with little mandarin’s which were very tasty. For lunch I had the mushroom risotto. I have to say my boyfriend makes better risotto at home. It was good but nothing special and the mushrooms were minimal. I ordered the coffee pudding bread and had a bite(it was ok) I’m not huge on sweets so I shared it. BF and sis had the carrot cake topped with pineapple for desert which they did not approve of. It’s not very hard to miss on carrot cake but apparently you can easily do that when you put pineapples on top.

Came here for Sunday brunch and it wasn’t too packed. It’s a small place and kind of strange since it’s also a hotel? Service was just ok… had to wait for a bit throughout our time there, but hey, at least they were friendly! Their restrooms are located thru a door, down some stairs, into a dark and scary area… I also hate when the faucet water is freezing when I try to wash my hands! I ordered an egg and bacon english muffin sandwich thing. It was really cheesy and pretty good. The potatoes that came with it were nicely fried out the outside without being overcooked — the perfect texture! I really wanted some fresh fruit juice, but they only had OJ… wish they had a larger selection of fresh juices! Anyways, this is a convenient location, definitely cozy(on the small side), with OK service.

The location for this bistro is great. The ambiance and décor is beautiful, yet also fun. That being said I did not enjoy this meal as much as the ambiance. I came here with my mother and grandmother when they were visiting from California. Our original plan was to go to the Paramount, but the grandmother didn’t want to stand in a line for so long(understandable), so we went to BHHB instead. I ordered the vanilla pancakes with caramelized bananas and made a special request of the waiter. I asked him if he could cook the bananas into the pancake rather than just put them on top. I then asked him if he could also add the braised apples from the French toast in the pancakes as well. I know I made a difficult and confusing order that was probably quite annoying and a bit confusing, but I offered to pay extra. The waiter seemed to be really confused and said he would check and see if this were possible. I have no clue why it would not be possible as the pancakes are being cooked there and they have these ingredients. A bit later they bring out the food and my order doesn’t have anything I asked for. I was disappointed, but didn’t complain. The pancakes were fine, but it would have been nice to have been told it was impossible to cook bananas inside pancakes. And I get it, I was ordering off the menu and that’s an annoying thing to do… But they already had the ingredients. My grandmother ordered the salmon and bagel and the bagel she got was one of those kid sized 3 – 4 inch bagels. She loved this because she likes small meals and is always concerned about limiting fat and carbohydrates, but I would have still been starving after that meal.

Generally quite good for brunch. I’ve been here a few times and have never been let down. I think there’s a lot of places I’d rather get brunch on the weekends, places with perhaps a bit more character or variety, but for a safe, airy, modern brunch BHHB is quite dependable.

The other weekend I went to Beacon Hill Bistro for brunch. A friend recommended it so I thought I would give it a shot. Once we got seated and looked at the menu the couple next to us told us «do not order the salmon and crème fresh omelet.» The woman took the inside out of the omelet and it looked disgusting. The waitress didn’t even ask why she didn’t eat her meal. However, the customer did say something and the meal was removed from the bill. I’m sure that couple will not be returning! Now onto our meal, we both ordered the mushroom omelet served with potatoes and sourdough bread. The mushrooms were rubbery and poorly seasoned. I truly think the eggs were from a carton and not real fresh eggs. We barely ate our meal and to no surprise the waitress did not ask if anything was wrong. This restaurant has very poor service in the food industry. If I had to say something positive about this meal, I would say that the potatoes and bread were decent. I enjoy a good brunch on a Saturday morning but this restaurant did not meet my standards. I use open table for reservations and was disappointed to see that they don’t have availability after 9:30AM on the weekends. I would rate this restaurant a 2 out of 5 stars.
