I come here every day. Sam is always pleasant helpful and a great server. She and Kelsea always greet customers with a great smile. Oh yes, the food is great too :-)

Visited for a quick afternoon snack around 1:30pm on a weekday. Even with only one person ahead of me in line, it was 5 minutes before they took my order. It seemed almost like the cashier was purposely moving as slowly as possible with the other customer. I then waited about 10 minutes for my sandwich. As another reviewer experienced, many other customers came and went while I waited. After 10 minutes one of the staff noticed that my order was waiting to be made. They were completely ignoring the order slip printer! He looks at it for a moment, then tells me that they’re out of the bread I requested my sandwich to be made on. I’m not sure why the cashier didn’t tell me that when I placed the order. I asked the man what other breads they had, and he told me that they were basically out of everything except croissants. I find it odd that a sandwich shop would be out of most breads at just 1:30pm on a weekday. I told him I didn’t want the sandwich, and he gave me a refund. Normally I’d overlook any of these problems, but after all of this, I’d never consider eating here again. There are tons of other sandwich options around South Station. It’s just not worth dealing with this Au Bön Pain.

I had to give myself some time to cool off after my most recent experience before writing a review, if that’s any indication of what’s to come. Basically, stopped by South Station and ordered a chicken wrap. Waited. Waited. Other people who ordered after me have come and gone. I go up and ask about it, the server looks at my receipt then without a word starts hurriedly making it(the order had obviously fallen between the cracks). Hands it to me and walks away, again saying nothing. That’s fine, it happens — take my sandwich and make the trek back to work. Now here’s what really gets me — first, my request of mesclun greens instead of romaine wasn’t fulfilled, even though it was printed on the receipt, but whatever — then as I’m eating through the mayo-heavy wrap, I realize something — there is NOCHICKEN. I open it up and dig through. Nope, not a single piece of chicken in the so-called chicken wrap. It was just mayo(or aioli), romaine, and a few pieces of tomato and avocado. On the upside, the avocado in it was good. But then, how could it not be? I didn’t have time to go back over to ABP, so I wrote to the customer service through the website and explained the situation, naively hoping for either an offer of a replacement sandwich or at the very least an apology for the oversight. Never heard back(now about 3 weeks ago). This experience was a true 1-star in every way — taste, quality, service — but I’ve been once before and it was not so horrible(2 – 3 star?), hence the 2-star review. There are plenty of other food stations at South Station if you’re hungry, just fyi.

Grabbed a smoked salmon on croissant sandwich on the way to the train and it was delicious and a great price. Service was a bit slow though. The cashier told me the sandwich would be done in less than 3 minutes(I had 10 minutes before train departure). The guy that was preparing it moved slower than molasses. Thanks to the mgr who saw the look on my face, I was able to finally get it in time to make the train.
