Service at this location is dramatically improved over year’s past; the staff, today, seem more customer-centric, efficient, and less error prone. Shirt laundering and dry cleaning is pretty good, on the expensive side(fairly typical«city» pricing), but still, to my dismay, shirts come back without broken or missing buttons having been replaced. Anton’s VIP Express service is a great perk for same day dry cleaning and shirt laundering. Anton’s has earned my business, to a large extent, due to their commitment to the community, and in particular underserved populations, by way of their two campaigns, «Coats for Kids» and«Belle of the Ball.» Read about these two Anton’s public service campaigns under«About Us,» and«For the Community» at . With frigid temperatures arriving this week, I went out and purchased a bunch of winter coats for kids, and dropped them off at Anton’s, knowing that they would be put to good use. No kid should be without a warm coat this winter.

I have to say the customer service at Anton’s is amongst the worst I have ever experienced. The people who work there act like they are doing you a favor by hanging up on their personal cell phone call and coming to get your dry cleaning. I have not found a single person working there(other than maybe the manager) to be the least bit polite and friendly. I even had one employee decide to mouth off to me — obviously a disgruntled employee who was taking out his work frustration on a blameless customer. I will be searching for a new dry cleaner in Beacon Hill pronto.

Not sure why all the bad reviews are for? I’ve been using Anton’s for about a year now consistently and I’ve encountered no problems with them. Hours are great. Seems like every day till like 11 at night they are open. The ENCOURAGE dog owners, which I love. They have a container filled with milk bones for the 4 legged customers, so my Pug loves to head in there. It really kills 2 birds with 1 stone when you can drop/pick up dry cleaning while taking the dog out! Never had a problem with their services or getting stuff wrong. I’m part of the online newsletter or whatever — so when I get the Anton’s Coupons, I hit that shiz hard and fast. Prices are decent as well.

The only good points about this place are the VIP services and the monthly 50% off coupons on specific clothes. This makes the price become affordable. I am giving them 1 star after consistently bad experiences I got with them. — they ruined a $ 100 dress. When I got it back from them, there was a large black stain on the front that wasn’t there before. They offered to clean it again, but did not manage to remove the stain and that was it. Not even an apology. — They broke a strap on another dress, and after agreeing they would do the repair for free, they made me pay for it. — I gave another dress for wet cleaning and when I got it back it obviously hadn’t been cleaned(the ‘stain’ stickers and the stains were still there). They assured me that it had been cleaned. Magically after they cleaned it again the stains were gone. — I gave a sweater for repair and they didn’t do a good job with it, while still charging me $ 10 for it. In 2 minutes, I did better than them. There are so many cleaners on Charles St, I would definitely recommend to visit another one.

I may end up revising my rating as this goes along, but I’m beginning the Ultimate Cleanse — my official title for a review of the many dry cleaners Beacon Hill has to offer. Anton’s, you’re a bad start. They do offer 1-day turnaround, which is nice. And for my cleaning(a pair of pants washed and pressed, a shirt starched, and a sweater dry cleaned), the prices didn’t seem abnormal($ 21 total). Plus, they’re like, right across the street from me. And their location seems really clean, and their hours are great. SO, that’s pretty good, all in all. Why the low score? Well, when I bring things to be cleaned, I expect them to come back to me instantly wearable. But the color of my button-down shirt was starched in such a way that I couldn’t possibly wear it under a suit. My pants had really weird wrinkles all along the waistline. My sweater was okay, i think — it’s june, I didn’t actually put it on. BUt when I pay to have things like this cleaned, it’s usually because I want them to look their best. I now have to re-iron my pants and, having failed at getting the weird creases completely out of my shirt collar, bring that to another cleaner. Anton’s, let’s hope you’re not my best option.

I’m not local to the area, but it looks like Anton’s just took over for Zoot’s at the same location on Charles Street. They are still remodeling(as of this review) but open for business. I think most cleaners do a decent job, but the reason I gave Anton’s 4 stars is because of the way they handled a problem that came up. I was in Boston on business, and I dropped off two shirts to be laundered on Monday afternoon. I was told they would be ready by 5pm the next day, which was fine since I had a train to catch on Wednesday morning early. Well, the delivery truck didn’t arrive on Tuesday, so I couldn’t pick up my shirts and had no time to come back the next day. They apologized and offered to send my shirts(after getting approval from their manager) to me back in California. When I spoke to the manager, he never once brought up any mention of fees or charges. He didn’t make any excuses, and he even apologized that he wouldn’t be able to send it out that same day(which was fine with me). I really respect a business that owns up to its mistakes and addresses them thoroughly. PROS: — Great customer service — Clean interior(remodel looks good so far) — Same day service(if dropped off prior to 9am) CONS: — A little pricey, but worth it if you appreciate customer service — Doesn’t do wash-n-fold, but is next to a laundromat that does — Parking can be tricky
