This was my first time going. I heard about it through my friend and it looked like it be a lot of fun. We got there at around 8:30 and it didn’t talk long to get in. But once we got in we had to push through people to get in the beer ticket line, which is ridiculous to even have in the first place. After that you have to go wait in another line to actually get your beer! Overall, there wasn’t anything very festive about it. They needed better live music and entertainment. AND more beer stands.

Came here for 2014 Octoberfest. For $ 10 as a ‘friend of harpoon’ you get a beer ticket and a plastic pint cup, yes plastic. I think they do that for safety reasons for drunks, but it’s a low quality cup that easily chipped and I threw it out afterward. Beers after that are $ 6, not 5 bucks as in years past. Do you like waiting in long lines? Then this is the place for you! Get in a long line to buy a drink ticket, then get in another huge unorganized line for your beer. Then once you have said beer, these fest organizers give you no path to exit the madness, so you have to fight to create a path among the same people waiting in line. Food: Love those delicious pretzels at Harpoon tastings? I do. They didn’t sell their signature tasty pretzels, instead they had a stand selling those cardboard ones you find at carnivals. Band: We were chuckling when the band started playing the«olé olé olé» song for the 5th time in two/three hours. Is that a German song? Despite the mess of an organization this was, my friends and I had a good time with each other. I love Harpoon beer. It’s my favorite. Would I return to this festival again? no way! Cheers!

Went to the Harpoon Octoberfest on Fri. night expecting lots of German food, beer and celebration. The shuttle from South Station– Great idea! Fastest way to get to & from the event via public transit. The food– Not so great. One food station under the main tent which had some overpriced, frozen and reheated sausages, potato pancakes, and hot dogs. The sides were tiny and $ 2 extra! They got my order wrong and charged me $ 14 for 2 hot dogs! They corrected it pretty quickly but the Harpoon bratwurst was not very good. The Sausage guy was selling much better Bratwurst toward the back stage. – Cheaper and far tastier! The beer– Great as always! Super fresh and delicious. The lines got crazy long as the night continued. Which was expected given the crowd. The Cider was terrible – might have been a bad batch but it tasted flat and sour. The price– $ 10 for Friends of Harpoon – Not to bad. $ 5 per pint – Ok I suppose. The entertainment– Cool bands but not very festive atmosphere. 2 stars for great beer – the rest not so much. So now I can say that I went but don’t think I’ll be going again.
