Andrew Station – MBTA – Red Line

Andrew Station Transit cops watch a punk teenager punch out an elderly man & let him go with a summons. Ummm… yeah, last I checked assaulting a person over 65 is a FELONY!!! Boston Transit Cops are the RUDEST, MOST INCOMPETENT Cops on the planet! Can’t even do their job properly!!! Just disgusting!

Attention red line passenger we are experiencing minor delays between this and that… disable train has become quite common… oh don’t forget fare increase every 6 months you can expect more delays this winter that 900,000 dollars junk won’t change a damn thing.

We all understand Andrew station is infamous for a few things. The bus station outside is not one of the cleanest of stops. There is a correction center not too far away and that’s the source of the interesting mix of crowd that uses Andrew station as a primary transit stop. Just listing down a few things that visitors should consider /​know about and such.
— Buses: About 7 key bus routes go via this T station. Make sure you know some inbound vs outbound stops so that you board the right bus. I have seen so many people missing the bus they are supposed to be getting on or getting in the bus going in the opposite direction — just because they were standing at the wrong stop or didn’t read the bus direction. The drivers sometime do not have the energy to educate every passenger getting in the bus about the direction it is going in.
— Be Alert: As I mentioned in the beginning, this T stop definitely is a big transit point for a very mixed crowd. If you are waiting outside, for your bus to show up or for a pickup, use your common sense. It’s best to take your earphones off and be visibly alert if there isn’t any sight of transit police. Try to avoid using this stop very late in the night but if you must, look for the transit police which is almost always there and go stand near them. It is not that bad a place but why take the risk? It doesn’t cost you anything to be careful.
— South Bay Mall:
There is a clear cut path for those who choose to go to the south bay shopping center on foot from here. Again, use your common sense and be alert if all by yourself and walking from the T to Target, Old Navy and all those shopping places.
— Security: More often than not, there is enough BPD and transit police in and around Andrew station. Which is a good thing. I have never had the need to be going via the station very late and can only hope that is the case during those hours. All in all, there is nothing to be scared of while commuting via this stop. Just be vigilant and as they commonly put on postures on the buses and trains, «If you see something, say something.»

Pervasive constant stench of urine.

While I wouldn’t want to be leaving this station at night (the surrounding area was a little sketchy), this location was somewhat conveniently located to our hotel and we had no issues walking over here during the day. It was clean and well maintained from what we could tell. The elevators didn’t smell like pee (a huge plus!). The one time we needed help, there was an MBTA agent nearby to help us out. Over all, not bad. I was bummed we couldn’t pick up a Charlie Card here (50 cents is 50 cents!), but the ticket kiosks were all in working order and it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to get a Charlie Ticket. We were able to get to and from here easily.

It’s not the cleanest or the newest, but it’s the closest to South Boston — God’s Country.

very busy in the morning

Riding the T when we were younger the voice recording would say «entering Andrew» and the kids on the train always seem to find that funny and laugh. The place is usually clean, but it’s not as fancy as some other stations.

Miiiiice. This station has a tendency to have a lot of the furry critters running around. Its not a bad station just look out so your not shocked when you see one.

NOT my favourite T station by any stretch — this place can be SKETCHY at night, and I wouldn’t recommend hanging out there in the evenings on your own if you are a lady. That being said, the station has been renovated the last couple of years and is kept relatively clean. Other bonuses include AT&T service even on the platform — not something us AT&T customers are used too…

Good T-​Station, Very Clean and in a lot better shape than it used to be.
