Motel 6

It was clean. The bed wasn’t very comfortable and it’s right next to the highway so it was quite loud. Not too bad for the low price. The pool was closed and we were looking forward to swimming.

One of the few disappointing experiences I’ve had at a Motel 6.
I will say that I chose a bad Friday to travel. Not only was it Valentine’s Day weekend (Sunday), but Mardi Gras was on the following Tuesday.
However, that is no excuse. The gentleman at the front desk that night was slow and inexperienced. He could offer no advise on dining, and the brochure rack was of no value.
The phone did not work (the buttons stuck down when depressed).
On a weekend that was going to have rowdy patrons, there was no security on site to stifle the excessive noise. In contrast, the Studio 6 in Dallas, (that was almost within walking distance to the old Cowboys Stadium) had police on site every Fri/​Sat/​Sun night when there was a home game. Most other weekends, too. Never heard a peep in 15 months.
So needless to say, getting sleep between midnight and 2 am was pointless. Bad weekend to forget the earplugs.
However, the room was clean and had plenty of clean towels. It had no odor, as a non-​smoking room should.
