Rams Hill is my favorite challenging golf course in Southern California! We played and enjoyed the old Rams Hill track, but this new Rams Hill is first class in every way. The new design accommodates every ability golfer and the fairways are are lush and perfect. Bring your putting wits because you need your A game on these big interesting greens. They ran 11.5 yesterday. This golf experience is a gem. Everyone I know that has played out here agrees. We do the golf package with Casa Del Zorro. Unbelievably great!!!

Had played here 4-years ago, before it’s closure, so I was really anticipating its opening again. The Course was not disappointing & the Greens were fast. What was disappointing were the Green Fees. $ 150 to play; reduced to $ 75 after 11am? Give me a break. There are some pretty«hot» tracks in Southern California that charge those rates; more geographically accessible, and this isn’t one of them. $ 75 max during the week, Monday– Thursday, $ 50 for Seniors; $ 125 max Weekends & Holidays; better on-line promotions & discounts. Currently too far too drive & too expensive compared to comparable quality courses. No breakfast facilities yet; port-a-poties on back nine non-operational for Women. Staff were great/helpful & aware of cost complaints!

My wife and I played the course recently as part of a golf package. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The course is superbly maintained. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens are all impeccable. Much better condition than some other courses I’ve played that are 2 – 3 times more expensive. I would have given the course 5 stars except for one issue. It appeared that they let a sadist cut the pins. The greens were rolling at about 12 on the stimp and many pins were set a couple of feet from drop offs. On the first hole, I chipped up to about 3 feet. The ball stopped, but then started rolling and rolled 30 feet and off the green. Several other holes were set up very close to the edge of the green. The greens were so fast and the slope so severe that there was no need to trick it up with ridiculous pin placements. The above comments notwithstanding, you should play this course if you have the chance. Great Fazio layout in superb condition.

I would like to echo Ben’s review from December. Our group of 12 came out and played for 4 days. Immaculate course, great service. Have played all over the world and would put the condition of this course up against any other. Greens roll perfectly but have lots of undulations. You can play approach shots off of the banking around the greens, allowing for creativity. Never seen more perfect lies throughout a golf course. Get out and enjoy.

Very nice track. Reasonable price. Great staff. If 4.5 stars were available, that would be the score. The course is immaculate; not a blade of grass out of place. From tee to green, you will be hard pressed to find a better kept public course. See below for the ½ star subtraction. Not really a huge deal IMO, but the greens are not real receptive to mid-handicappers. Immature and very, very firm. I am a 12 and tried rolling it up, flying it in high. Did not really matter most of the time. This is a tough course to get the ball close on. Even on purely struck shots that launched high and dropped in vertically, ball would release through the green and off the back more often than not. If your focus is shooting a score, this will be a source of frustration. Having said that, the beauty of the course and surroundings more than make up for the hard greens. I would also expect that they will soften over time. One other note: Played it in the afternoon and the wind was a factor. 20 – 30 mph gusts that even moved the ball a bit on some putts. Don’t live there and am not familiar with the weather, but would’ve preferred a more gentle breeze. Does not take anything away from the track, but something to consider. I would like a crack at the course in the morning with no wind and may have to head back just for that.

I’ve played courses up and down California and this is the nicest one I’ve ever played. Had a great round of golf and an awesome meal afterwards in the beautiful outdoor lounge. Highly recommend it!

We played twice this weekend. I have never seen a better kept course, including the big name courses. Challenging and immaculate… The concierge, Mike Setchell was absolutely first rate and went above and beyond… I have not written many reviews, and none were this positive, but Ram’s Hill is a top-shelf golf experience. Drive out there and play it…

Course is in amazing condition. A group of us who work at a golf company went out there today and played for a great rate. We all have played quite a bit of golf, and I will tell you what. This course is in the best shape that I’ve seen a course in. The layout of the course is challenging, yet very forgiving for those high handicappers who can spray it from time to time. Most of us live in San Diego so it was a quick 1 ½ drive over. If you ever have a chance to play here I highly suggest making the trip. The service in the pro shop and on the course is hands down a step above. I will definitely be returning. Job well done to the new owners!

Get out there and play now, the course is phenomenal. Not much to say about the conditioning since everything was perfect. Greens are pure, no ball marks whatsoever. Fairways like carpet. Traps nice fluffy sand without being too soft. They are still doing work on the clubhouse area but who cares, we were there to golf not sit on the patio. However, when completed it should be amazing. We played the blues at around 6400 yds with handicaps ranging from 7.5−20 and all enjoyed the course. Always hesitant to take high handicappers to desert courses since they can be tight and overly penal. Not Rams Hill, wide fairways with desert that you could recover from if you went that far right or left. Greenside bunkers and the greens were challenging but fair. Can be stretched to 7500 yds which would test anybody. At $ 75 for an early twilight we’ll most definitely be back. It is worth $ 150 but not with a 1.5 hr drive. If it were in San Diego proper it would be $ 200+ rack rates(just played Aviara and I’d choose Rams Hill), in Borrego it should be priced at $ 100 rack rate with deals to be had. It was one of those courses where you don’t want the round to end. Get on it!

Beautiful and intensely fun golf course. Found myself coming back here daily during my stay. The staff in the pro shop are the nicest people you’ll find and the club house food is the best in town. Prices are very reasonable for the fine quality of the facilities.

Amazing golf course!!! Fazio at his best. Course conditioning was top notch and the greens were very smooth and rolling about 12 on the stimpmeter. All of the holes are fun… just make sure to play the correct tees for your skill level. Great views of the Borrego Springs valley on almost every hole. These guys did a very, very nice job with bringing this property back to life since the closure of the course about 4 years ago. Hope to tee it up again soon @ Rams Hill CC.

We have eaten a couple of meals there and found the food to be very good from steak to halibut. Just called for reservations for dinner tonight and they are closed for the summer. Will reopen in the fall. Looking forward to returning for dinners overlooking the desert.

I have been here several times and have taken friends and family. The food was excellent the staff was very professional. Chef Matthew always checks to make sure our food was good. Have tried several things and they were all excellent. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. Can’t wait for them to reopen in the fall.
