Excellent, friendly service(hence the extra star). Very disappointing food & ambiance. The grilled salmon was so dry, you would think it had been a creature of the desert. Remarkably unremarkable experience. Avoid.

We frequent Borrego Springs often and always look for dinner options. We decided to try Arches and it didn’t disappoint. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive. Noël was our waiter and he gave us good tips on what were favorites and he was attentive and overall a great server. The menu provides an array of options for any appetite and their portions are very generous. We decided to split the fried chicken plate and instead of bringing an empty plate for us to split they split the meal for us and brought us what seemed like two fried chicken dinners. Besides that kind gesture everything we ate was very good and tasty. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine and a beautiful scenery. If you’re in Borrego Springs fo some time this is a nice place to put on your dinner list. We will be back.

Went the Arches for dinner/happy hour yesterday. Was also Karaōke night. Ramon the bartender is the«franchise player.» Makes sure everyone knows that he’s glad do see them. Gives tips on what to order and what’s the best value. Took away our small ice water glasses and brought big ones«it’s a hot day.» He will go far in life no matter what he does – top 1% customer service skills.

Don’t go here for a meal. We waited close to 15 minutes just to be seated. There were tables with dirty dishes all around us; and the plates all had a lot of food left on them… leading me to believe the food wasn’t good enough to finish. After we were seated, the server disappeared. We didn’t even get a chance to give a drink order. We waited another 10 minutes… nobody came back to our table. We left and ate at the Red Ocotillo up the road, where the service was excellent, as was the food and prices.

We had a reservation for 14 for my sister in law’s 40th birthday as this appeared to be the nicesest place in town. First off, it took a very long time for them to come take our drink order. No bread. Once we finally got our drink order, we had ordered shrimp cocktails for the table and those were very good. We got our order taken, then 45 minutes later the waiter came back to tell us that he only had 2 orders of prime rib left even though our table ordered 4 orders. He offered regular steaks instead so we said yes. Then the kids food came out. They had finished eating and were getting antsy when we finally got our food, a full 2HOURS after we sat down. And on top of that, they brought the 2 prime ribs out, but only one steak, which left me(this reviewer) with NODINNER at all. I ended up eating what my daughter left on her plate because at that point I was so hungry I no longer cared and the kids were on the verge of meltdown at by this point it was past 10pm. The manager came over and knew we were really upset and said«the chef did not show up tonight». Although he was a nice person as was the waiter, they really did not seem that interested in rectifying the situation. They gave us free desert(which only a few people remained and those with kids had to leave to get them to bed and they comped 2 of the«surf and turf» dinners. In an ironic turn of events, we ended up paying for my prime rib dinner that never came and was never replaced. We ended up spending $ 600 for a really bad experience, this restaurant needs to get it together.

Interesting experience… Went there with a group of about 12 people. First thing I ask is «where did all the menu options go from the list I just got from the hotel?» The server told me that the chef is no longer there so they cant serve that, theres a new chef now. Ummmm ok. How about leaving out all that drama and just tell me that you took it off the menu? The Bread was great. There was a huge lag in food. We had several couples, people got served sporadically and anyone who is in a relationship knows that you dont start eating before your spouse. Everyones food came out at different times so most of us were eating cold food. I ordered the Hummus which was great, and a portabello sandwich with steamed green beans which wasnt exciting at all. Some people ordered Surf and Turf which was very disappointing(checking out I heard someone complain about it, dry steak and two tiny shrimp). Surf and Turf to me is Lobster but I guess its different here. The food took forever to come out. Then asking for the check. We would get one check and then 20 minutes later a few more. Change took 20 minutes. It was an extremely drawn out dining experience which took over three hours and we were sat right aways so all of that time was actually at the table. The place wasnt that busy so theres no excuse. The server was extremely ill-trained in serving but she was very nice. We just expect more from a place like that. Take the opportunity of the previous chef leaving and put some passion into the food. Great Atmosphere could be a really great place to eat with a little bit of work and a little creativity.

We drove in and the resort was beautiful, immaculate. The patio at Arches was very inviting, enjoyed the fresh linen and the smell of cut grass and citrus flowers from small adjacent grove. Only sounds were the quiet conversations of other customers, birds chirping, and a lake fountain 100 feet from our table. We asked our server if they served fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, she said no, and in noticing our disappointment immediately plucked five grapefruit from a nearby tree(oro blanco, our favorite), cheerily offered to squeeze them, and returned in five minutes with two tall glasses brimming with juice. Incredible! It was a very special gesture, thank you. The eggs benedict were as good as it gets, and the pancakes were the best I’ve tried in years. Arches, you just made two enthusiastic life-long customers.

Props to the chefs for preparing delicious food. Boo to everything else. The restaurant itself is very dated. There were only 3 parties including ourselves with 4 people or less, and we felt totally ignored. We ordered fish and chips, salad and a hummus plate as an appetizer. We waited 35 minutes for the appetizer and lunch to be brought out at the same time. Then that was the last time we saw our server. Our drinks were never refilled, and the whole process took an hour and fifteen minutes. We actually saw another couple be seated then get up and leave because the server never came. It’s a shame we have no motivation to go back because the food was good. But $ 50 later to be ignored, no.

It was ok. I had the gazpacho, the recipe is not nearly close to gazpacho from Spain lets say. It was like ketchup soup. But the portobello fries were good. And my husband got the fish tacos, the fish was battered and good, but the tortillas were cold and kept cracking. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks, service was good, there was only one other couple at the bar. I ordered the 4-beer flight tasters that are advertised on the website for $ 10, and the waitress had no idea what I was talking about, but still did it for me. Then the manager was asking her why she did it and they were talking, not whispering, in Spanish, so I overheard everything. Hello, I may not look Mexican, but it’s impolite to talk about other ppl like 10 ft from you, especially when they speak Spanish.

How disappointing. We came here as part of a group of 40. It is Fat Tuesday, and they had a special cajun buffet. They knew we were coming, we had reservations and are staying at the resort. To make a long story short, we never got the buffet. They finally brought out a mix of French fries, nachos, and a couple of small sandwiches. That was only after the group started talking about ordering pizza from a local pizza place. What a disappointment! We were looking forward to a wonderful cajun dinner and ended up with a few generic appys. We won’t be eating here again. I figure they lost over $ 600 tonight and 40 customers. Too bad, but that’s what bad service does.

We recommend the patio. Amazing view of a desert sunset and the gorgeous golf course. Outdoor patio area is pet friendly. Fantastic appetizer menu. Try the fried green beans, hummus plate or nachos! Great Margaritas! Very nice staff.

Such a bummer! We went here for almost all of our meals the last time we stayed at the resort. This time we went there for Saturday nights dinner. My food was really good but my moms steak looked terrible. It was almost all fat(definitely not worth the money). Then yesterday morning we went there for breakfast. They were out of almost everything(literally none of the meals could be ordered in their entirety except for the oatmeal). After attempting to order two sandwiches to go for lunch, and being told they couldn’t make them, we gave up. I asked the staff what was going on and if the restaurant was closing down. They stated they(golf course, restaurant, spa) are closing for July and August and that was why there was limited food. Being that it is only June 10th, you would think the restaurant would still be fully operational. It sucks because I have experienced this place in the past and it has been much much better.

We have eaten at The Arches Restaurant many times. The last time we ate there it was very good, the salmon was better than it ever was before my husband exclaimed the last time he ate it. He wanted me to Unilocal about it because his spelling sucks. I had the Borrego Caviar it is made up of Kalamata Olives and sauteed portabello mushrooms, we order it every time, yummy!

We spent our Thanksgiving weekend at the resort and ate quite a few meals at Arches. The food was decent and pricing about what you’d expect at a hotel restaurant. The wait to get our food was almost ridiculous, especially with two little ones. Thankfully we brought our own crayons, books and a deck of cards. One night our food took almost an hour and a half to get to us, the next night it was pushing 45 minutes. The servers all looked busy, so I’m guessing it was the kitchen that just couldn’t keep up with multiple orders.

I went to Arches for take out on the first night of a bachelor party in Borrego. We got take out right before they closed. The food was okay. Nothing incredible other than the fact that I was absolutely starving. The reason they get two stars is because the food didn’t live up to the price. The service was fine and the food was good, just not great. I probably would have been just as happy getting a burger at Carlee’s. I would eat here again for lunch or something, but not for take out dinner. The ambiance might make the price more justifiable.

Oh hey, guys! Looks like I’m the first to review this place. Sit down, relax, and enjoy the magical web I’m going to spin below: This place looks like it’s from the 60s in the most awesome way imaginable. As in, I don’t think they know it looks retro. There is a sunken bar which I tried to take a picture of but then forgot. You’re welcome. My husband and I spent a night at Borrego Springs Resort and decided to grab a quick bite here on our way out after seeing on our hotel channel that they had happy hour all day every day during the summer(or something like that). When we walked in around noon we were the only customers. We got a nice table overlooking the golf course(which I believe was already closed for the summer). Only one other couple came in for lunch, so it was very peaceful. I ordered the quesadilla and margarita and my husband had the tacos and margarita. They also had sliders and beer, hot dog and beer, etc. All for $ 3-$ 6 each. I think our total bill was $ 10ish. The margaritas were good and the food was small but tasty and for being pretty much free, well worth it. If you’re staying at the hotel I would recommend checking out what specials the restaurant has going on, especially if you’re there in off-season like we were. And they lived happily ever after. THEEND.
