I would prefer to give no stars. I have lived in this neighborhood way longer than this store has even existed. When they first opened they out performed the local Thriftway, which caused the Thriftway to close down. As time went on this store’s performance slid downhill along with the product quality. They can’t keep their employees, which speaks volumes. The employees they seem to attract are highly incompetent and prove they don’t care about their customers by ignoring them and denying them service. I have cast only a few complaints over the years to no avail. They just don’t care. When the New Seasons store moved in close by, Safeway remodeled trying to look more like the new guy in town but also raised their prices but not their quality or service. The best thing that could happen to this community is for it to boycott this store and force it to improve HUGELY or shut down and move out. I do not understand why anyone supports it.

I would give another star, but, the last two times I’ve been have been much less than great. Last night, I went and there were twelve people in the checkout line. TWELVE. 12. There was one lane open and it was the Express Lane. Not cool. I made the effort to go to Safeway because I was planning to buy a bunch of produce and I *thought* they’d be cheaper than Fred Meyer. Wrong! The apples were at least an extra $.35 per pound. The cucumbers were mushy or rock hard. The heads romaine was wilted and/or crushed and brown. The packaged romaine wasn’t much better. I’ve met bricks that were softer than the pineapples(I understand wanting a «not-quite-ripe» pineapple, but, this was ridiculous). Other than one pretty decent T-bone(which I bought), the meat department was pretty sad looking. The one cashier they did have working was doing a great job and working his tail off. Kudos for that. The man working in the produce department was pretty nice and asked if I needed anything, but, when I did, he didn’t even look up from what he was doing to tell me where to find it. I’ll go back, but, only because it’s so close to home. I’d rather go to the Gresham Safeway or the Highland Safeway.

Just your standard Safeway. The only problem is that at 8AM on A Saturday morning there was no hot food of sort(I thought Safeway had a few things in the morning, I may be wrong). The croissants however were delicious and flaky. It was crowded the lines at the register took very long, but no new registers were opened(there was only one) and we were forced to go to the Starbucks to pay.
