It’s a sports bar so obviously you don’t expect fine dining but it should not be unreasonable to expect reasonably prepared food. Sure nachos, wings, quesadillas are not imaginative cuisine but this place seems to reduce cooking to its lowest common denominator. Everything is clearly pulled frozen straight from a box or a bag and thrown together by someone that has no qualification to prepare food. Although the facility is nicely equipped as a sports bar the food demonstrates a management/ownership that cares nothing of what it serves up to its customers. I don’t buy that patrons at a sports bar expect to compromise to this extent. I’ve had great wings/nachos and I’ve had really bad ones, these are among the worst.

Food was amazing, service was excellent. Tuscan salad and shrimp and chicken pasta. Only loss of stars is for the nat(fruit fly) problem. Buzzed at least 20 times during dinner near the bar. Has happened on both of my visits in the past two weeks. Manager gladly offered a comp’d bar drink as an apology. This place has a lot to offer.

We came to this bar around 9:50, tried to charge us 10 $ per person to enter the bar while there about 8 people sitting/standing around, refused to let us in when one of the guests did not carry a ID on him while he clearly looked like he was over his 30s. Never again will I set foot at this place! What a mistake!

Alstarz was always that enigma across from the diner, until we finally got the gumption to check it out and boy am I glad we did! Great service, yummy food, and of course, great drinks! We were seated immediately in a cavernous but friendly dining room adjacent to the bar. There were tons of TVs with football(yay) and everyone had a few games to watch. The waiter was attentive and amiable. He was funny too, warning us that the soup bowl was huge. For $ 7 we got a bowl of delicious tomato rice soup the size of my head. We got delicious sandwiches and burgers with yummy fries and sweet potato fries. I enjoyed a $ 2.5 Stella Artois(woo!). The size of the sandwiches as well as the quality meant all of us took home some and enjoyed eating it the next day. The only thing that I could say needed attention was that the music was a bit loud. But I’m coming back. Yay Alstarz!

Had lunch there yesterday. We had the potsticker app which was fried and no filling. The buffalo chicken wrap and BBQ sandwich was fine and a good portion. Matt the bartender was great and the Draft beer section is good. Will go back

Ordered the potsticker — there was very little filling, mostly just greasy dough. Then we orders chicken quesadilla and it came out in less than 5 mins. There is no way they make to order. It was cold and you could tell was sitting in the kitchen for some time. Service was good and the bartenders were all very nice and accommodating. They also have good drink specials.

Went with the family on Sat night for dinner. 6pm the place was dead, this isn’t a good sign and rightfully so. Waitress was very nice but this didn’t make up for the fact that the food was really bad. The fried food was cooked on the outside but not the inside(appetizers came out about 3 mins after we ordered.) fried mozzarella was probably the best thing we had. The boneless wings were mediocre partly because they weren’t cooked properly. Spinach dip was the worst I ever had, tasted a week old. Worst ribs I have ever eaten, very dry and tough. I prob should have know better and just got a burger. Burgers were ok, a little under cooked. Once they got the taps working the beer was good and fresh. Unless this place has a very successful nightlife I wouldn’t expect it to be open much longer. I’d consider going back for a beer although for the size of the place they don’t have many tv’s. I’ll never eat there again. I was here a couple years ago and it was MUCH better than this. I should have trusted the Unilocal ratings and read some reviews before going back.

I love this place. Great location, great food; friendly and professional staff. There is so much on the menu to choose from. They also offer a Sunday Brunch.

My wife and I were eating dinner here with our family this passed friday. An hour and a half into my meal we are approached by a meathead bouncer who tells me to take off my sports cap, Doing his best to intimidate me in front of my wife and family. Let’s just be clear about one thing… YOUSHOULDNEVERALLOWYOURBOUNCERSTOAPPROACHYOURCUSTOMERSATTHEIRDINNERTABLE. PERIOD. NOEXCEPTIONS! !!! And to top things off, they actually had the nerve to put up a velvet rope at 10pm and started charging people to come in and spend their money. IT’S A SPORTSBARYOUIDIOTS!!!

Two families came to Alstarz Bar & Grill for Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday. There were seven of us, and I did not know what to expect from a sports bar house with several dozen HDTVs all witnessing the complete unraveling of the Philadelphia Eagles. Couldn’t feel thankful for that. But, to our pleasant surprise, Alstarz put out quite a spread. Everything from properly roasted Turkey Breast, Roast Beef and Roast Pork, down through all the right sides(Cranberry Sauce, Mashed and Sweet Potatoes, Salads, Gravies), to a huge dessert table that had three kinds of Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Cake, Fresh Fruit, etc.). Everything I tried was good to very good, and the beer on tap or bottles broad enough in selection to keep everyone happy. It was only after returning home and going to their website that I learned that it is owned by the Mastoris family(the famous diner across he vast parking lot). That explains the attention to quality and quantity. They have been putting out overflowing plates for Central Jersey customers for almost 90 years. I can’t eat much today after the gorging yesterday, but I will have no problem considering doing this Thanksgiving thing again in the future. Who knows, I might even drop in for lunch as it is very near my current office.

Terrible service. Several items were ordered arrived incorrectly. Long wait times for drinks. Food was awful. Hot wings tasted bland, chicken Parmesan… the chicken tasted like a burnt country fried steak with undercooked cheese and sour tomato sauce. The other members of my party had similar complaints with food taste and quality. Avoid this place

My friends were ripped off as the bartenders pocketed there cash and still charged the card! The managers and owners were very rude and Diane was the worst. So unprofessional and condescending. Refused to bring up the check on there system and made a million excuses! Disgusting business. Avoid at all costs! As they are a bunch of liars and thieves.

Really would love to love this place because of the location and amazing inside and outside seating and bar area., many large tvs. Inside and outside bar… Fire pit. Booths, tables, high tops, and even private rooms … but EVERYTHING about this place is terrible. first off the management is outrageous you’re better off not even talking to them at all because they will be no help and only be rude and unprofessional… The service just sucks entirely and I’m Sure the negative attitudes and unfriendly faces stems right from the horrifying management(Diane) The food is barely decent. When they first opened sooo many years ago their food was much better… I wish they would have a REDO in management, employees, and food because this could have SOMUCH potential. But with many negative aspects I understand why this restaurant/sports bar ISNOT a gold chest !

Absolutely horrible place! Diane, the manager, has the absolute worst customer service! I reserved tables for a going away luncheon a month prior to the event and when I arrived the day of said luncheon they had the time incorrect and the amount of people it would be. Diane acted as though this reservation was a complete surprise to her when in fact I spoke to her directly when the reservation was first made AND I called the day prior to confirm the time and the reservation was still good. Avoid this place at all costs of you plan to use it for large reservations.

Went to try the new menu for lunch. Cold food. The cheese on the nachos had already hardened by the time it got to our table. Vegetable potstickers were cold and rubbery tasted like they came out of the microwave. Pork sliders again cold ok nothing great. Waiter looked out the window over our heads the whole time he took our order. Very disorganized and considering there was only 1 other table with customers I don’t know why our food was cold. Will not return for overpriced cold mediocre food.

All the food I’ve had here was not good. The buffalo chicken was as hard as a rock and tasteless. My guess was that it had been sitting in the fryer all day. The pulled pork sandwich was so dry. Even with extra BBQ sauce. Waitress seemed more interested in flirting with the guys sitting at the bar than waiting on us. If you’re looking for a sports bar, go across the street to Chickie and Pete’s.

Worst service I’ve ever had. They got our food AND drinks wrong. Plus the waitress(I think her name was Nicole) was rude. Even before she messed up our orders she came up to us and said«what do you want» in this nasty tone. I don’t know what people rave about this place. It’s seriously the worst service of any place I’ve ever been. We didn’t even stay to eat our food that took 45 minutes + to come out. Absolutely unacceptable. Never going back.

Wow! How does this place get three stars? Went for the college football championship and knew there was an issue when the parking lot at a sports bar was empty for a big game. They cut off food service before halftime and last call in the middle of the third quarter. Is closing time 11 here or something? Had the fried chicken sliders. Think frozen ones popped in a microwave would’ve been better… chick-fil-a would’ve been hands down. These only had lettuce on them and served with some mayo. Are they even trying? Had to ask for drink refills. No one finished their meals. They were in a rush to close out checks… By the beginning of the fourth quarter. This was the most dead sports bar I’ve ever been to for a big game. Think grandma’s house would’ve been more lively. Think this place should be renamed Sleepy’s…
