It’s a fun place to go for an afternoon of family time. Between picking your own produce, feeding the ducks, getting a bite to eat, shopping(and sampling!) at the market, or going to the petting zoo, there’s something for everyone. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I’m not a big fan of crowds, and it can often get very crowded. They do a good job of having lots of extra seating and tractors running to ferry customers to the picking fields, but it can still get a bit claustrophobic at times. I’m not a big wine drinker, but most people I know seem to love their wines. My mom, sister, and brother are members of their wine club, so I guess they like it. Despite being about an hour away from my house, we seem to find ourselves there at least 2 or 3 times a summer. It’s a big draw for families much further away, too, so if you’re in the area, I highly recommend carving out a few hours to visit.

I went with my family a couple months ago for my mom’s birthday. To be honest, I was rather disappointed with the tasting. We were asked upon arrival if we had the Groupon(we did not but apparently you should get it!) Since we didn’t have the Groupon, we were put to the side and our first wine stewardess did not seem very happy to serving us. She didn’t tell us about any of the wines, simply telling us which ones they were out of. Our next wine stewardess which switched half way through the tasting was much more friendly! I was not very impressed by the quality of wine but that could be from lack of information prior to the tasting of each wine. The best part of the Huber experience for us was the meal at Joe Huber’s Family Farm and Restaurant. The meal was delicious and felt like it was home-cooked. Additionally, we picked up some apple cider which I made into an Apple Cider Mimosa the next day. It was delicious. I’m not sure if I would go back again, I’ve been to several other wineries in Indiana who seem to have more of the«Hoosier Hospitality». Maybe it just wasn’t for me, because I see that a lot of other people have enjoyed their experiences.

That’s right. I finally made it to Huber Winery. What I would consider one of the holy grails of Indiana wine. Started in 1978, Huber Winery consists of over 700 acres of vines and u-pic fruits ranging from raspberries and peaches to apples and blueberries. What I loved about my five star experience with Huber Events Manager, Scott, was learning how farm is soooo farm to bottle. Peach branch = from the peaches on the farm. Strawberry wine = from the strawberries on the farm. And so on. Tastings will run you $ 10 and come with 8 wine samples. Lately I’ve been leaning on the dry white side so you can keep that in mind as I list of my favorites: –2014 Traminette(sweeter than I would typically go but I thoroughly enjoyed their version of Indiana’s signature wine), 2013 Generations(their version of a Merlot) and lastly, the Malbec(they are the only winery in Indiana to make a Malbec). Ask for the bits of dark chocolate to pair with your Malbec sample. A few more notes: –Huber Winery kicked off their brandy line in 2001 –Starlight Distillery(owned by the Huber’s) kicked off in 2013 — liqueurs, gins and more(samples for these will run you $ 2/pop –fantastic customer service(we loved our experience with Scott!!!)

Fantastic time at the winery! My family purchased a Groupon for the wine cellar tour and tasting. The tour is fairly quick — approximately 30 minutes — and the tasting took place inside their eating area of the winery. A small plate of crackers, cheese and fruit were provided to us for bites in between the samples. After our tasting, we grabbed a table and ordered flatbread pizzas and the 14″ cheese bread. We also couldn’t resist a couple of orders of fries for the tables. Everything was delicious! This is also a great time to grab a bottle of wine or pitcher of sangria. The winery has an upstairs area with additional tasting bars and hundreds of wine-related accessories for sale. On the grounds, you can also stop in the cheese & ice cream shop, or their store for jellies, soups, candy, breads, etc. This area is extremely active during the Fall. Kids will also enjoy the ponds. You can visit the ducks and feed the fish. Bring your quarters for the fish food! Starting in May, the petting zoo is also open.

Amazing amazing amazing… Great place for kids and adults. The winery is a great place to spend an afternoon. I have been to several wineries in Indiana, and this is by far the best one to enjoy the day at. Did I mention it is super kid friendlt

I’m only rating the wine tasting as we did not eat food here today. This place sure has grown and aged well. It’s no longer just a bunch of sweet wines that Taste like Concord grape juice. Although, they still have a LOT of that to drink, if that’s your thing. As with all wineries, the pricing is a little steep in my opinion, but hey, that’s the way it is and I’m jut glad we have more and more options to visit. All that being said, a 8 wine tasting is only $ 10 and for an extra $ 2 you can add a keepsake wine glass. Nice touch. Get the glass. I tried 3 whites, a rose and 4 reds. All were acceptable to good. I felt the best of the bunch was the Cab Franc. You can get some pretty amazing west coast wines for $ 25. But this wine competes well enough for me to grab one. Curious now to see if I can find a rating of it somewhere. Worth the road trip from Indy, do it, you won’t regret it.

Huber’s Orchard, Winery, & Vineyards is a great place to visit with your family or a date to spend time picking out your Halloween pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, perusing the shops for locally made foods, or tasting their homemade wine. Taste a few wines from their list and mark your favorites so you can purchase afterwards. And don’t forget to save the Huber’s family restaurant for dinner before your drive home. Make Huber’s your fall time tradition!

Portions are huge and it is worth the drive to get there. It’s even more fun when you go during the picking season to get pumpkins, strawberries or whatever has grown. Also serves as a nice venue for parties and weddings.

This is definitely a unique experience in this area. They had apple picking, pumpkin picking, and fresh produce. There are wine tastings and live music as well. This place is really the whole experience. You could spend all day here with your family. But the problem was the prices. I was shocked at the prices on pretty much everything there. They know they are a unique venue and seemed to have capitalized on it. It was a good time but not worth a future visit until they lower the costs.

Visiting Huber’s in early October is a family tradition of ours. We’ve travelled those windy roads more times than I can count to enjoy hot, apple cider donuts and a bevy of farm market products. We always leave with a ghost pumpkin, my favorite, and several bags of goodies. We thought that by going over St. James Art Fair weekend that we’d avoid some crowds. While the numbers were lower than we’ve seen before, there were still a lot of people abound. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing because you may be hiking from your parking space in the back 40. Huber’s grows pumpkins, gourds, apples, and a variety of fresh produce. On the weekends in Oct., you can browse indoors and out for fall food and decorations. I love the large trucks overflowing with pumpkins — great photo op for kids and adults alike! I have picked my own pumpkin in the field as well, but usually reserve that for when I’m with kids. It’s not an easy task for my mom who has mobility issues. Don’t miss Huber’s baked goods(cheese and peach breads as well as cookies are amazing) or their cheeses. The cheese tray at the winery lets you try a couple of varieties or you can pick up some small chunks in the cheese shop. I’m a fan of their apple cider or the apple cider sangria to wash everything down. There are also a full service restaurant and fair-type burgers & dogs available. It’s never a cheap visit, but the quality and freshness of everything at Huber’s coupled with the fun, fall festivities(like live music and Halloween décor) make it worth the drive and the expense!

Went here on 10÷4÷15 and it was phenomenal! We did the wine tasting in the cellar(in my opinion better than the loft). There was live music outside so we grabbed a cheese platter and pitcher of sangria for the patio. We also grabbed a couple of bottles of wine and cheese for home. Our favorites were: –Wine: Razy apple and starlight red –Cheese: Havarty and sharp cheddar Cheers!

Love the quarterly wine tastings! Really liked the«accident wine» Barrel Aged Chardonel. Nice white wine with the tinge of bourbon after taste. We bought a few bottles! Brandon(new guy of just 3 days) did the tasting with us. He was great! Think young Johnny Depp the sommelier! We will be back and I hope Brandon is still there!

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with some wine or exploring the U-pick in seasonal items. Plenty on varietals of wine and a great farmer’s market for fresh homegrown items. Huber winery has greatly expand through the years and it gets better every year. Enjoy homemade ice cream and pick up some cheese at the ice cream shoppe. Great place for families or couples.

Hubers is a lot more than a winery and has certainly grown a lot in the 30 years I’ve been coming here. We did several activities today which I will review in order First off I love Huber’s wines and always take at least one bottle home. The winery has a variety of food available also so we all split a pizza and had a small cheese, cracker style plate. The pizza wasn’t very big and was decent but nothing to really write home about. The cheeses were pretty tasty, there were only 3 strawberries on the plate and they’re in season now but they were of course good too. Salami was standard as were the crackers and strawberry yogurt covered pretzels. Nothing was bad but nothing really impressed. Then we headed to the«fun park» side. This has changed over the years greatly and I was disappointed to see there is no longer a petting zoo. We feed some geese corn from the machines and the kids played on the playground. They have some pedal cars which were fun too and the kids really enjoyed the mazes they have especially the rope maze. We rode the«grain train» around the grounds and found it so fun we rode it again later. The kids also did the cheesy gem mining thing you find many places but they enjoyed it. Putt putt is pretty much a joke. They could really put a little bit more effort in to this and a few other attractions but when you consider admission price it’s not bad. Next up was strawberry picking and Huber’s has award winning strawberries. They were ripe and beautiful and delicious. Incredibly juicy and taste nothing like the stuff you get at the grocers. Pick up some of the amazing treats they sell in the market too if your wallet allows. It’s pricey but their pies, soup mixes, breads. It’s all pretty yummy. Before heading home we got ice cream in the ice cream and cheese shop. I had the homemade strawberry they made with their very own fresh strawberries and it was really good too. Staff is super friendly and the adults wore out before the kids did.

I could talk for days about this place. I grew up in this area and when I wasn’t picking berries, apples, or peaches, I was sitting back after a wonderful wine tasting with my bottle of wine indulging in a cheese tray. If picking berries isn’t for you I understand that too. You can pick up your favorite tasting bread, butter or fruit at the local market at the winery and bring it home so you can remember your visit for days to come. My favorite time to come is in October and this past year I was able to marry my best friend in their vineyards. The staff was great! They made sure that it wasn’t too overwhelming to me. I just love how nostalgic this place makes me. You e got to try it for yourselves! It’s a family owned farm for over a hundred years and they pride themselves to be a family place. So bring the family and check out their petting zoo!

I’m from Floyds Knobs so Hubers is in my backyard. I’ve been a wine club member for about 4 years now, and a drinker of their wine for 10+ years. I enjoy the perks of the membership, particularly the free events they host for us. At a recent champagne brunch for members, we were given a private tour of the new Starlight Distillery along with a tasting of several items right outta the barrel from Ted Huber himself. What a nice guy and a nice treat! I like sweet red wines. For this reason, Hubers is my Mecca because they have the best sweet red wine of all time: Pop’s Reserve. It’s a concord wine aged in bourbon barrels. People who don’t like wine like this wine. It’s that good. It’s only comes out once a year(3rd Thursday in November) so you gotta stock up for the YEAR because it sells out in just a few weeks. This past year we left there with 9 cases, I kid you not. The wine prices are very reasonable and the wines are high quality with a ton of choices. Wine club members get unlimited FREE tastings all year with three guests included each time. I highly recommend a stop in the ice cream and cheese shop. Pumpkin ice cream in the fall is that thing you’ll crave and need to come back for. The farm market also has a bountiful selection of produce, baked goods, and other prepared items. They let you sample most things which is a bonus. I love their apple cider and the jalapeño cheese bread :) oh and the apple butter! And pumpkin butter! *grins* My only critiques would be that sometimes things get chaotic there. It’s not always apparent where to go to pick up wine or do a tasting because they change it up and then don’t post signage. And while there are some staff who are repeatedly personable and professional, there are a few I avoid because they are notoriously unfriendly and unwelcoming, which is a shame. The Hubers themselves are great, however.

Always a good time! Award winning wines for the tasting, seasonal things to pick, tasty good food to eat while you enjoy a bottle with company! Highly recommend joining the wine members club. Discounts and great exclusive activities you’re invited to. There is also a children’s fun park that looks like fun(if you’re a kid!). A nice day out in Starlight if you’re local or from out of town!

Great ride out to a full pumpkin patch with an awesome selection. We found two big pumpkins for only 10 bucks! We also did the winery tasting for 10 dollars which includes 7 tastes and the wine glass. The apple spiced wine was our favorite and only 10 dollars for the bottle. Don’t forget to hit up the donut stand for pumpkin or Apple donuts!

Huber promotes itself as a winery, but it’s clearly a lot of different experiences at once — a farm, café, distillery, ice cream shop, bakery, and wedding venue. Personally, I’ve been here a half dozen times and never really bothered to explore beyond the u-pick experience, which is excellent. The apples are good. The pumpkins are probably especially fun, since pumpkins are always cooler in the patch than in the produce aisle. The peaches are huge business for them. But my fave? The grapes.(At least the ones for eating.) I can’t explain it, but every May, the city grocery stores and farmer’s markets have great strawberries, soon to be followed by beautiful peaches, then delicious melons and crisp apples. But the difference in quality between what I’m able to get in Louisville and what’s offered here on the farm is by far the greatest when it comes to the grapes. Whether it be concords or vanessas, or seedless table grapes, they are all little angel tears here. Plus you get to be shuttled on the big wagon to-and-from the picking areas. Fun for all ages, as long as you carry a stomach. For every three pounds I pick, a pound ends up in my belly before I make it to the cash register. Summertime visits here are also a fab cultural experience. If you’re picking Huber’s u-pick fruits and veggies, odds are about 50 – 50 that the guy next to you is speaking English. They should call themselves an *international* orchard and winery.

I love walking through the orchard and vineyard. The experience satisfies the plant lover in this city slicker. I love picking the fruits even more. Buying fruit from a farmer’s market is just not«farm» enough, I need the complete experience. I have picked peaches, apples and grapes from Huber’s. I loved every minute of it. We were able to pick the grape varieties«Jupiter» and«Vanessa» on this trip. No, you cannot get these from any grocery store. Yes, they do have a flavor that’s been bred out of conventional table grapes. You simply have to give them a try. Since we came during the start of grape harvest, we did not encounter any hungry wasps feasting on rotting grapes on the ground. But beware! Those fruit boxes appear small in the vineyard placed on the ground, they can hold many lbs of grapes! I’m always surprised by the $$ at checkout. Huber’s is not a cheap place for fruit and produce. You will definitely pay more than you will from a grocery store. But I guess the experience is priceless? I have been a sucker for the experience and will be back for more.
