Authentic, insanely delicious New Orleans food with great, friendly staff. Very popular, prepare to possible take the food home instead of sitting there. Wish they were open more than two days!

I drive 45 minutes to go eat at Cajun Kate’s. Yes, I like it. I discovered this place a few months ago. I’ve never been to Booth’s Corner and the only reason I went was because I was looking for someplace to eat and I read some positive reviews about a place inside that made some good Cajun style food. I love spicy southern cajun style food. This place knows how to hook it up. This is not an eat-in restaurant. It’s more like a stand with a few seats in front of it. It isn’t the most comfortable place to eat. The stools are very close and don’t allow for much leg, belly, and shoulder room. They work though. You see the menu, you want to order 1 of everything, and you want someplace to eat it. You can only have so much space in a place like Booth’s Corner. Anyway, I’m not here to write about the sitting area. I’m here to tell you about the tastebud experience. Look straight up and there is their normal menu. Look at the wall to the right and there is a chalk board with their specials. They really pull you in. **NOTE** THEYONLYACCEPTCASHANDCHECKFORPAYMENT! The first time I went there I ordered with my eyes and didn’t consider how much I would be trying to consume #FatGuyProblems lol. Where do you even start with things like Gator On A Stick, Crispy Cajun Mac & Cheese, Jambalaya, and what the heck is a Po-Boy? A few months ago I tried their crispy mac and cheese. It is basically a clump of mac and cheese dropped into a deep fryer with breading and spices. I like it! Be warned though… Take your time eating it. It is very hot and I burnt the inside of my mouth quite a few times because I was impatient and wanted to eat it NOW! Gator on a stick was ok. I don’t think I am a fan of gator. Just give me my regular sausage. You might like it. Next time I will pass on the gator. Not saying anything bad about it. It just wasn’t for me. Jambalaya was good when I had it. If I remember correctly, it had chicken, shrimp and sausage in it. A good amount of it too. Tasty. I would order again. I learned yesterday that a Po-Boy is what we here in the north call a hoagie. Their chalk board let me know that they had Oyster Po-Boys this weekend. I saw someone else ordering one and it looked delicious so I had to get one for myself. So glad I did! These were giant sized oysters with the perfect amount of breading, cajun spice, and tender oyster meat. The flavor was perfect! A little pricey at $ 18 for a full sized roll, but I’m a full sized guy so it was all good. I would definitely order this sandwich again, but I would prefer to be able to order just the oysters without everything else. They would make great finger food. I hope the owners read this and offer a non sandwich version of this tasty treat. While eating it I was telling one of the owners about my love for hot/spicy food. He showed me the assortment of different hot sauces on the counter, but also told me about his own habanero sauce that he stores sealed in the fridge. I demanded that he gave me some. He offered it to me with a warning and a smile. He told me to take it easy. I told him I was an expert. I covered my sandwich in it and went to town. YUMMM! Very good and glad to know he has that there. I asked for more. Dumped more on and finished my oysters. Delicious! My mouth burned for about 10 minutes after I finished the sandwich. 24 hours later and my stomach is still reminding me of the spice. WIN! The main reason I went to Cajun Kate’s was because a week ago they told me they were taking orders for their«Special Gumbo» that they only offer twice a year. I ordered 4 of them last week and came in to pick them up last night. I ended up only taking 3 of them because they were a little more expensive than I expected. Normally their gumbo costs $ 14 for a quart. I did not know that the price was going to be different for these. They were $ 20 a quart. Yes, I spent a lot of money last night. I would do it again though. This gumbo was awesome! I wanted my parents to try some so I brought them over a quart and heated it up. We all ate it together. Before my father tasted it, he told me I was crazy for spending $ 20 each on them. After he tried it, he changed his mind. It was good! It was loaded with shrimp, crab, crawfish, oysters and mahi. You could taste the seafood. They also give you rice to eat with it. Everything went together perfectly. Expensive, but good. So to sum it all up, I have been here a few times and have had good experiences. There are no other New Orleans style food places in my area, so this is my spot for now. I spent a lot of money last night. 1 Oyster Po-Boy($ 18), 3 quarts of the Seafood Gumbo($ 20 each) and a can of coke($ 1). Yes, I spent $ 79 on food. Yes, I am sick in the head. Yes, I just ate some more Seafood Gumbo. Yes, I will have more tomorrow. Yes, I will probably order more when they have it again. Go to Booth’s corner, go to Cajun Kate’s, order one of everything, and have yourself a good time. 4 stars!

Oh. My. God. Crawfish pie? Sweet Jesus. Catfish fingers? Get in my mouth. Crab and corn mac? So good I cried. My car smelled like Cajun heaven until I got home. I was brought to tears. So good. So, so good.

Wow, all these great reviews and now mine. I feel bad writing this. The gumbo sucked. Really. I threw it away after two bites. Lots of shrimp and andouille. Bitter rue. No peppers no celery no okra no onion. I was do disappointed that I made a batch myself today. It wasn’t that tough to make right. On top of it all $ 14 for a quart. Doesn’t anyone who eats here know what gumbo is? I hope the owners contact me. Maybe they can explain it.

Oh my lordy. That fried mac & cheese and jambalaya are to die for. I’m not a fan of souped up rice but I have to say it was mighty fine. The fried max & cheese was a triangluar shaped chunk of goodness with artichoke and crab. I didn’t notice any crab but there definitely was artichoke. The oyster po boy was good but the alligator sausage was so salty! I really appreciate that they offer samples because being a first timer with real southern food that isn’t fried chicken, the jambalaya, gumbo, and soups, I have to say I loved every bit of it. Save a $ 1 off every $ 10 through the Unilocal offer and you’d be lucky to score a seat at the counter and listen to the stories and history of the food from the man himself. I don’t even care how much everything is because that food was good.

Now that I have gotten more familiar with this area around my workplace I ventured into Booth’s Corner on my lunch break. I walked past a number of very tempting places to eat but I stopped right in my tracks at Cajun Kate’s. If I had had a longer stretch of time I would have sat and had an entire meal but I ordered the catfish fingers to go. I have had them at Warmdaddy’s and Famous Dave’s but Cajun Kate’s were hands down the best. Perfectly seasoned, fried to a crisp and moist and flakey on the inside. And the cajun tartar sauce was spot on. For 8.00 I got a very generous portion of meaty strips and sauce. I will certainly be back and you should come too.

So after reading everyone’s reviews I had to try it for myself. I had very high expectations and than they managed to exceed those expectations ! They offered me many free samples of delicious cajun food. Great conversation, and truly amazing food. I will be a regular now.

I wish this place wasn’t only open fridays and Saturdays! The Cajun food here is sooooo good. My family and I usually pick up jambalaya and the gumbo of the week whenever we are having friends over. The people who work here are really helpful and always make suggestions on how to heat up/cook the food we take home. They also sell gator meat… I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet but it’s definitely something cool for all you adventurous eaters. If you come to eat on site it can be kind of cramped but the workers definitely make you feel welcome and you might even get to try some free food!

I’ve been going to Cajun Kate’s since it opened. The food is absolutely incredible. My favorite is the beef brisket po boy, which is only offered occasionally. The red beans & rice is really delicious with generous portions of meat and just enough spice to keep things interesting. Don’t leave without trying the mac & cheese, it’s definitely a must have.

Stopped in and met Don and Kate, ate spectacular food. As I told Don food is great because it is unique to them. New Orleans style but still with their signature flavors and unique twists. The best part is menu changes each week, new stuff, new flavors, new twists on basic dishes. And you can get things to go to finish cooking at home. Glad they brought my towns culture to new parts of our land.

what can I say, every reviewer has touched on something inherently wonderful about this particular restaurant’s fare, which is so expertly crafted, so widely regarded, and so beautifully recommended. chef Don is every bit the artist, music lover, pacifist, wiseman, the list goes on. usually people are upset about the wait or the lack of stools or the fact it’s only open two days a week; to me that only elevates the exclusivity of the experience, from the tomato parm soup to the Cajun Mac –n– cheese, to any of the po’ boys to the«breakfast of champions.» if you don’t know to what that refers, you’re missing out. booths corner, Cajun Kate’s, the best eating experience you’ll have. go visit.

Amazing food! My fiancé and i have been to NOLA and i must say, their gator poboy is better here. The beignets are good but not like Café Du Monde. the jambalaya was very tasty too. They don’t take credit card so make sure you have cash! So worth it though.

Easily the best place ever to get a po’ boy. Even better than in the Nola! That also give great service and are full of life like the people in the Nola.

Cajun Kate’s is the perfect hole in the wall. Went with a friend on Black Friday and we shared several items from the menu. The staff is friendly, will engage you in conversation and are eager to tell you all about what they have to offer each day, as there are weekly alterations to their menu items. The New Orleans décor provides an at-home atmosphere amongst the many shops and patrons in the surrounding area of this farmers market. The gumbo was the first item sampled. Today’s was shrimp and sausage. The roux had a very rich and savory taste, but slightly lacking in thickness(but that’s not a bad thing). The rice and generous portions of meat more than satisfied my palate. Next was the jambalaya, which featured shrimp, chicken and sausage. My friend and I both agreed that it was easily the best we’ve had. There’s an interesting spice(found in their creole seasoning!) going on with this jambalaya that permeates the entire dish leading to a very hearty and flavorful meal. There is no filler here; everything was clearly chosen to contribute to the overall flavor. Lastly, we split an order of the deep fried mac n cheese with lobster meat and Tasso ham, with a sweet/spicy sauce served on top(it can be served on the side). Just fantastic. It’s hard to mess this one up; the mac and cheese oozes out when you cut into it, the lobster provides a tinge of sweetness, the ham gives that subtle peppery pork texture and the sauce was the icing on the cake. I can’t recommended this enough. This is truly a hidden gem of the greater philadelphia area. You might think with these rave reviews that you’re going to break the bank, but what if I told you that you could have all of the above, plus two drinks for under $ 25? Go there asap. There is always time to stash a little gumbo and you will not be disappointed.

The epitome of a hidden gem. I am definitely a late comer to this flavorful culinary party known as Cajun Kate’s, but as they say better late than never. In short, Cajun Kate’s lives up to its great reputation and then some. This is a MUST visit and taste if you are ever in the Booth’s Corner Farmers Market. They are ONLY open on Fri and Sat, so eat lite and workout all week, then bring a big appetite and reward yourself with this great tasting N’Awlins style food. I love that Cajun Kate’s has a theme and focus because it allows them to stay very true to who they are as a brand by going deep on their concept, and not trying to be all things for all people. This is a true and authentic Cajun N’Awlins style culinary experience. I would recommend you try everything on their menu at least once, because I plan to. I enjoyed my first tasting at Cajun Kate’s so much that my son and I went in for lunch on a Fri around 3pm, and then I brought my son and wife back at 8:30pm the same day for desert! We are at the counter for Lunch: — Crispy Cajun Mac & Cheese with Crab & Artichoke — Fried Oyster PO-BOY!!! — Catfish PO-BOY We took food home for Later: — Chicken & Sausage Gumbo — Sweet Potato Bisque!!! — Crispy Cajun Mac & Cheese with Crab & Artichoke(Yes, we ordered another to-go) We came back for desert and had: — Pain Perdu(Deep Fried French Toast) & Gator Sausage(aka the Champions Breakfast) — My 12 yr old son devoured this. — Beignets w/powdered sugar — Bananas Foster Bread Pudding(To-Go) Everything We Ate Was DELICIOUS! As you can see I have found my new guilty pleasure. Truth be told, I am glad that they are only open on Fri/Sat, so I don’t have to worry about over indulging. The service was extremely friendly and personable. Don the owner, and one of his helpers Gina are very genuine and good spirited people! I highly recommend you getting to know them as people too. Don is a bit of a «music-head» that likes to listen to vinyl records, and I found out is also a huge fan of the music of Fela Kuti. For me, there is nothing more mellow and laid-back than a Fri after work eating a delicious Oyster Po-Boy, some authentic Gumbo and listening to the groove & funk sounds of Fela Kuti… true bliss!

There’s two things I don’t like about this place. NUTHING! I wish they were open every day! when you’re looking for a place to make your mouth happy and give your shocks a workout, get over to Cajun Kate’s every Fri. & Sat. everything is so delicious that they completely sell out some items. Don, a former employee of Emeril, puts so much soul in his food, you need a separate napkin just to wipe the love! Great menu, fast friendly service and groovin N’alins tunes playing. High energy, fantastic food(including pre made frozen to go) great staff and some deserts you can’t describe. MAKETHIS a destination, then walk it off in the Farmers Market. This is a must do. one of my favorite spots.
