Eat here weekly and simply enjoy all the food. Similar to what I ate as a kid growing up. Must try to understand real authentic Latin food.

Everything we have had there so far has been amazing. The use of spices and seasoning with quality ingredients is some of the best, if not the best, spanish cooking I have ever had in my travels. Warm and friendly staff. Cafateria style with just enough options to satisfy everyone but not like a Diner where you get overwelmed with options. Does not get much better than this, but don’t expect white table cloths and waiters.

Small Latin store front, seems to be a fixed price, pick a platter type place. Very friendly staff, even to me who can’t speak anything but English. Order at the counter, and they make up your plate. No menu, so it was a little intimidating when you do not know the deal. I had oxtail(had to ask for it — it was in back and not a regular item) but the choices seems to be fish, fried chicken, baked chicken(spiced) pork stew, roast pork and a few others, sweet fried plantain, various rices, etc — you know. Even the yellow rice was flavorful, moist and tender — perfect. – Basically I pulled up a cop was coming out with his lunch, and inside two were in line — I knew I found«the spot». Not fancy, but clean and well kept — Very easy access off of 287 — I will be stopping here often on my travels.

Food is amazing and delicious. Service is even better. Extremely friendly. Tried a little bit of everything. Pulled pork, beef empanada, plantain, fried rice… yummy!

I would not recommend if you are looking for great service or atmosphere, but if you look for a great homemade Latino style meal for a great price, this is the place to eat. Get ready to self-serve when you are panning to eat there.

When I pulled up to the place, it’s a hole in the wall. Awsome, I love places like this. Only if it’s good of course. Had pork ribs and some other pork meat. It was great. Yuca and rice as sides. Yuca tasted very good. Rice was okay. It was topped with jalapeños and pico. cleaned the plate. Service is also friendly, far from nazi. Price is better then expected. Give it a try.

Went here this afternoon with a few guys from work. Prior to today, I’d been to Rincon and Chico’s(Parsippany and Morris Plains, respectively) for my Latin food fixes. I had the yellow rice and black beans, empanadas, sweet plantains, and the beef stew. $ 12.00… there was so much food that I don’t know how I ate all of it; I’ll be waddling around my office for the rest of the day. Everything was very good and the owner and his wife were amazingly gracious. The empandas(while very good) weren’t as tasty as Raul’s in Morristown. I’ll be going back next time I feel like unbuttoning my pants after lunch!

I grew up with this food and I have to say this is equal to or better than my Mom’s cooking. Sorry Mom, but it’s also closer to home. Just a little hole in the wall, but the staff is genuinely friendly and the food authentic. A must try, just don’t crowd it so much that I can’t get in.

The food here is excellent, despite how it may look to a newcomer. This is more of a cafeteria-style restaurant where you go up to the counter, look at what they have, and select what you’d like, either to-go or you can sit at the tables to eat. I believe the family is Honduran. They are all beyond friendly and pleasant. I have to say again, the food is excellent and the prices are extremely fair. Do not be afraid, just find a parking spot along the street, walk in, and be happy.

Amazing Honduran restaurant. 1) I got beef stew, Honduran sausage, picadillo(ground meat), yellow rice and black beans: all for 10 bucks. 2) Service is excellent. 3) They have a private lot.

My mom and I came here for the first time after seeing the wonderful reviews on Unilocal.Right away, you could smell the aroma of deliciousness. The staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. It is like entering a grandmother’s kitchen. The food is placed on a steam table, but you can tell that it is freshly made. I ordered the roasted chicken which was very delicious, juicy, and tender. The yellow rice was cooked well and had a balanced amount of seasoning. The yuca fries were toasty and I received a generous serving. My mom ordered the pork chops and she enjoyed them very much. The pork chops were very tender and tasty. Both meats were falling off the bone. The empanadas deserve a separate paragraph because THEYWERETODIEFOR. The empanadas puffed with meat filling and the dough was flaky and perfect. We ordered 2 to begin with, and then ended up ordering 6 more to go. This restaurant deserves 5 stars. Will be back very soon.

Boonton is a small town but has its fair share of good eats. While the exterior may not look like much, the food is what makes this place a local favorite. Here’s how it works: There’s no menu. The owner, Gerardo, and the cooks decide what they want to cook. Whatever is cooked basically becomes the menu for that day. The dishes are placed on a long heating table behind a glass pane, and you basically point at what you want on your plate – from rice to side dishes. –Plate with yellow rice, black beans, fried plantains, roasted pork, and chorizo(~$ 10): No price was actually listed, but I’m thinking each item is $ 2 based on my final check, which is not bad given the amount of food you get. The rice was delicious, since it literally finished cooking right when my group walked in – talk about great timing! The beans and plantains were great, too, but the roasted pork and chorizo were the stars. The pork was savory and tender and the chorizo was nice and juicy. Both had a good amount of fat mixed in. The chorizo was thick and stuffed nicely, while the roasted pork was perfect with the pico de gallo and jalapeños. Side dishes on the left side of the cashier are free. –Empanadas($ 1 each): Sazon Latino is said to be one of the top 5 places in New Jersey for empanadas. I must say, they really are good. The dough and crust were fried perfectly and stuffed generously. You could add sauce if you’d like but these are delicious as is. I ordered three to share with two other people, but I ended up eating all of them on my own. They’re so good that I ended up ordering six more to go. Overall, Sazon Latino was a great find. It’s a small eatery, but serves up some great food for very reasonable prices. Everyone here is super friendly, too – from Gerardo to the cooks. We had a nice conversation with them on a variety of topics after our meal– spanning from education to the difference between Jersey and California. There’s really nothing I can complain about. I love the food and I love the service. I’ll be back.

First time visiting after seeing so many 5-star reviews. Roasted chicken, rice and black beans, sweet plantains, fresh pico and an empanada to round out my plate. My wife enjoyed fried pork instead of chicken and a bowl of crab soup that would be at home in any 4-star seaside restaurant. It was heavenly. Everything was cooked to perfection and the house made hot sauce adds as much or as little kick to your meal as your taste buds can handle. It’s a simple atmosphere. It reminded me of going to a friend’s kitchen for dinner. The staff will explain what’s cooking that night and offer suggestions if you aren’t sure what to try. Very helpful and never pushy. There isn’t a menu as selections will rotate daily. Meal cost will range from $ 7-$ 10 for most depending on how you put your plate together. Well worth it and we will be coming back.

No empanadas and no ribs today. Bummer. Still the food was very good. Took my elderly Puerto Rican mother who enjoyed the food but who said it was definitely not Puerto Rican flavored. I had the black rice, pig’s feet, and sausage which was not only very good but I had to stop the server from serving any more. The yuca was meh. Also had a mango drink which all came to $ 10 per person. The only real negative is the steep steps to enter through the rear(remember elderly mom). Friendly staff and owner and very clean. Don’t know Spanish? No problema.

Fantastic Latin American cuisine, very friendly people and very reasonable prices. The lunch specials are great, I had tilapia with plantains, yucca, black beans and a great grape soda from El Salvador called, appropriately, Uva Uva. The food seems to be somewhat Dominican and/or Central American, which is why I used the vague term«Latin American» above. Anyways it is fantastic, come eat! there is a TV tuned to Spanish channels, a few booths and tables, this is an order at the counter place. wonderful!

Amazing food, awesome friendly service and incredible value for money. Make sure you mention if it’s your first time and they will run through everything. Pretty sure that the owner is one of the happiest people on earth — just writing this review makes me smile :) The offerings change regularly but everything is excellent. The seating is limited — this is not fine dining but good«home cooking». Highly recommended!

Amazing Spanish food in a little hole in the wall! What a great find! As many other reviewers stated, the owner is super sweet and kind enough to explain all the dishes. Rice+3 sides costs only $ 7! FYI Hours on the door state Monday to Saturday 7AM-9PM. Food is served in a cafeteria style and there’s 8 – 10 tables where you can sit and eat. Definitely try the roasted chicken, it’s a must! It’s fall-off-the-bone goodness! We had the yellow rice, fried plantains, empanadas, roasted chicken, and one of the pork dishes. My boyfriend had the beef dish. The empanadas and fried plantains were yummy and authentic. Some parts of the beef were a bit tough but flavors were authentic and everything was such good bang for your buck! Can’t wait to try their stews and soups the next time I return! Also note they have a variety of Latino sodas to try with your meal! Can’t wait to go back!

I love Sazon Latino so much, I’m willing to come here any time anyone wants to go. Everything is AMAZING here — the food is very authentic. Upon walking in, you will feel so welcomed because the staff(especially the owner) is so friendly! I remember my first time coming here, I didn’t know what drink to get and he suggested the mango drink. The owner even let me try the mango drink before making a decision — it was so delicious! I dined in my first time and he was very helpful. He made sure that I enjoyed my food and asked me if everything was good. He even remembered me when I revisited! Ladies and gentlemen, this is probably not a place you want to go to if it is your first date or if you’re trying to go on a romantic date lol. It’s a hole in the wall but the homemade food here is phenomenal. All the food is laid out cafeteria style and you let the employee know what you would like to eat. Every time I’ve went to Sazon, they always switch up their menu for their main entrees/side dishes which is great because you can try something new every time. I’m actually not sure how much each food item cost but it doesn’t really matter because when I go to pay for my food, I’m always shocked at the price — it’s always cheaper than I expect it to be. The prices here are very affordable. You can’t go wrong with any food items here. The meats are always very tender and falling off the bone especially the chicken. Everything else is packed with flavor. I love the pork, chorizo, beans and yellow rice. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach when I come here so two things can happen: I overeat or I save it for a second meal. But that’s okay because the leftover food still taste amazing! Definitely come here if you love Latin American food. You won’t ever feel ripped off here — portions are huge and prices are great. Good spot for a quick bite or take out. FYI, there is parking on the street and there’s also a parking lot behind the restaurant. I can’t wait to come back!

This is one of those hole in the wall places with amazing food, that you hear about all the time. Some people have a natural warm personality, on a level of 1 – 10, the guy who owns this place gets an 11! Out of all the places I’ve ever been to, I’ve never felt so welcomed like I was welcomed at Sazon Latino! I was a little hesitant about the food, since everything is already made and sitting in a steam table. Before I could ask any questions, the owner started to plate together some samples of the food. I got to tell ya, everything tasted awesome! I got a nice size dish of roast pork, yucca, plantains, and rice with black beans. The wife got fried chicken, yellow rice and plantains. Everything was super tasty! The restaurant itself in not fancy by any means. If your coming here, your not coming for the ambiance, but the food really makes up for it. As for the Bill, it was only eighteen dollars for all that awesome food and a few drinks… Wow! What a cool little spot!
