I love this little place. When I was in high school, this was the«go-to» place for us before sports games. The gravy fries are a must try, and all in all this place is so cool. It’s amazing to see placed like this still around. Check it out and go support!

The sign definitely catches your eye. When was the last time you saw a sign for a place that reads Restaurant, Guns & Ammo? Never, right! Me either. This I had to see. Tiny little spot in the middle of downtown Boonsboro. Looks a lot like the soda shops of yore, but also sells ammunition. On this particular day, they didn’t have what we needed in the way of ammo, but they did have what we needed as a pick-me-up to continue our shopping excursion. Party of five of us and everyone enjoyed their quick nosh. Hot ham and cheese sandwich, egg salad sandwich, egg and ham breakfast sandwich, steak and cheese sandwiches. We all agreed that our sandwiches were worth going back for. In addition to really tasty sandwiches, the iced tea tasted homemade and they even improvised a pineapple malt. They have a great selection of greeting cards and some gift type items similar to a Hallmark shop. It’s a novel name for sure, but they’ve been doing this for decades. The prices are incredibly reasonably, food good, and owners/attendants very pleasant. We will return.

How can you find this place anything other than paradise? It offers chow, guns, ammo, and hunting licenses!

I first stepped into Crawfords while working on my new home in Boonsboro, MD. I was in need of a good«home cooked» breakfast before starting the day. «Crawfords Restaurant Guns and Ammo» Sounds like the kind of place I could enjoy … Or at least get a kick out of. When you walk in, all of the locals turn and look to see who’s entering. Then they slowly turn back to their food or conversation. Before you enter, be sure you have cash. Crawford’s does not take check or card. It kind of reminds me of the old South Boston corner stores I used to visit as a kid. There’s nothing fancy. It’s a clean establishment with a handful of tables and plenty of bar spots to sit if you’re on your own. There’s traditional country music playing in the background. The owners Merle and Evelyn are typically there serving the breakfast. Merle seems to always be at his table surrounded by friends enjoying a cup of coffee while Evelyn works the breakfast bar. The food is nothing fancy(which I like). It’s a perfect serving to start your day without getting too filled up. It really reminds me of my grandparents cooking in Southie. Maybe that’s why I keep going back. After 2 weeks of occasional visits for breakfast, I’m feeling more and more welcome and part of the local environment. The coffee is tasty … The eggs and bacon are spot on. Even more appealing is the under $ 5.00 breakfast I get with pleasing conversation. So far, I’m a fan. I look forward to my move to Boonsboro so I can introduce myself to this local place. On a side note, you can purchase a really fine shotgun with a few boxes of ammo after you fill up on some bacon and eggs.
