They have a large menu but yet it’s also not very impressive. All the sandwiches are pretty similar and there are almost no healthy options. The waitress we had was rude and impatient even though we were the only ones in the restaurant so it’s not like it was busy, we sat at the bar and she stood there and stared at us waiting after we told her we’d need another minute to look at the large menu. The food is okay, nothing too impressive and super overpriced. It’s like $ 35 for two people. When you’re drunk the food is good. There are much cheaper and better restaurants close by.

Tasteless food, decent service, dirty restaurant. With the overwhelming amount of sandwich shops on King’s St there’s no reason you should eat here. Do yourself a favor and walk 30 seconds down the street to Wolfie’s or Our Daily Bread or Jimmy John’s or any Street vendor selling hot dogs for that matter and save yourself the trouble and expense of biting into a tasteless piece of bread they claim to be a sandwich.

Burger was a little over cooked but tasted great. Great service and friendly people. Great atmosphere downtown Boone.

Not much is open late in Boone, so this place does get points for that. I think it’s possible that I got the wrong item from the menu. My friend always gets the sherlock Holmes and was pleased with it. We shared an artichoke dip with both pita and chips. The pita felt chewy and stale at the same time. The dip tasted microwaved. I had fish tacos. They were actially not terrible. Maybe if I’m in Boone again ill try something different here. They do have an impressive sandwich menu.

This place has a plethora of options! Very friendly staff. Spinach artichoke dip is to die for. I’ve enjoyed everything I have had here. Definitely try the cinnamon sensation!

Macado’s is really not that great. The whole place feels dingy and dirty. The food seems to be reheated frozen food. The cinnamon rolls are their saving grace because they really are delicious. Service is alright sometimes, but I’ve also been there where it was awful. Boone has so many fantastic restaurants, so I would suggest going elsewhere.

Eh. This place is okay. Honestly, the only reason I come here is because it’s close to campus and it’s open late. The food is okay and service is decent. The whole atmosphere feels dirty and gross. I don’t recommend this Macados unless you have no other choice.

We were visiting NC. My friend is a local and took us around Boone for the day. All day she was raving about Macado’s(particularly about their famous cinnamon buns) and insisted we come here for lunch. When we got there, it was basically dead and we were seated right away. Reminds me of an old Applebee’s before they got renovated. Old wooden booths, quirky décor on the walls, old tube TVs from 1995 playing sports, etc. The main staple of their menu is sandwiches. Lots and lots of sandwiches. They offered a lunch special with a few select sandwiches or tacos from their menu along with fries for just under $ 7. I ordered the chicken tacos. They also had shrimp tacos as an option, but I’m from the beach in Florida and I know better than to expect good shrimp tacos from a college town in the mountains. Anywho, the tacos had avocado and ranch drizzled on top. They were alright, but not out of this world. Fries were okay, but not too exciting. My BF got a beef sandwich, which I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me, but it was pretty tasty. Definitely better than my tacos. Finally, we split one of the cinnamon buns, since it seemed it would be a sin to leave here without trying one. We got it delivered fresh out of the oven, piping hot and drizzled with lots of ooey gooey delicious sugary icing on top. It really was THAT good. The cinnamon bun was their saving grace here, otherwise I would have given 2 stars. Point is: Go to Macado’s for the cinnamon buns after you eat somewhere else first, but don’t come here expecting a spectactular meal!

I used to frequent this location when visiting my hunny while he was at school at ASU. We spent many a nights here hanging out. The food hasn’t gotten any better… it’s not horrible but not excellent. Its overly greasy hangover food. The only items I truly enjoy are the con queso dips with tortilla chips, and obviously the giant,(almost) frisbee sized cinnamon rolls they are always baking. Good atmosphere and friendly service.

Salads were nice. Everything else looks and taste overlooked and microwaved. Maybe even precooked, frozen and reheated. This place gets two starts for the very accommodating service staff.

Fallen off the wagon. I’ve been coming here forever and every time my parents come up to visit me now that I finally live here, I dread that they’ll want to go eat at Macado’s. Let’s start with the staple — potato skins. We have gotten it almost every time we’ve gone to a Macado’s now and I can tell you they used to be amazing. Now, they’re always burnt and not that ooeey, gooey awesome appetizer that potato skins used to be. Moreover, we’ve gone in a lot where our orders are messed up and wrong and it just sucks. And it always seems like Macado’s ends up being the one doing it. I personally put the downfall at when they switched to bagged chips. Macado’s used to be an awesome divey place where everyone could watch the game but I don’t know what the hell it is now. A burnt potato skin, bagged chip piece of shit? Seems like it to me.

I wasn’t staving at all when we walked in but the first thing that hits you is the aroma of fresh baked cinnamon buns(a strategic ploy perhaps?) the place is cool with the different levels of seating areas that have booths and tables and a separate bar area. We weren’t in the mood for a beer yet so I couldn’t tell you on the selection. Server was attentive and seemed to be there every time we wanted something. I ordered the bleu cheese burger medium, cooked perfectly. Krystal had the Wild West which had a huge onion ring and my wife got the Reuben large enough she could only eat half. Also ordered the waffle fries that tasted frozen. The main courses though did taste like fresh ingredients.

This location has given up. The service lately has been horrible. The only exception was a bearded gentleman working the bar. He was great. The heat is off, but they decided to remain open. The temperature outside was 19. My son had his heart set on eating there so we stayed. Everyone kept their coats on, and it was miserable. The food, surprisingly, was hot. The last 3 times prior to the icy last visit, the food was cold. On one visit I told the waitress, and she said«sorry.» No offer to cook it fresh. I told the manager and he said«what do you want me to do?» Seriously!?! One visit we were one of 5 tables in the restaurant. We waited 45 minutes, still no food. We walked out. Salad full of hard white lettuce stalks and dirty lettuce. So, cold food, bad management, mostly bad service.

I’ve been coming to this Macados since I was a wee little child. I love the décor on the walls and the sleazy carvings and writing on the tables. It gives off a divey vibe which is much different than the Macados I’ve eaten at in Charlotte and Concord. I always get the Molly Brown and it never disappoints me. I absolutely love the pickles they serve here! I do know that lately there have been many disappointing visits amongst my friends. It’s not the cleanest place in the world and the service has gotten spotty. This place is a classic so I hope they get themselves together soon! The beer specials can’t be beat!

Macados… why do I miss you so? This used to be a staple for me when I went to school at Appalachian state. It has tons of personality and the staff is usually cool and down to earth. There has been a few times they aren’t up to standards, but that’s been when the restaurant was slammed. I’ve gotten quite a few different things from here, ranging from the black bean queso dip to the monster sub, the Hindenburg. The food is almost always great and as expected. The prices are not bad and there is plenty of places to sit. I’ll keep hitting up Macados when I’m near one. It’s a great place to relax and eat some good food. Just a warning though, the Boone location is a college town and you should expect that type of atmosphere.

The only good thing that happened tonight was the girl working the bakery items. She was awesome. Food took forever then arrived cold. Sent back to be warmed up. When it arrived the second time I bit into a raw chicken wing. Waitress was ok.

I loved Macado’s in Greensboro and missed them very much when they closed downtown, so I always get excited when I get to visit other Macado’s! Bar-side tables are very cramped, no room for your legs, even if you are petite! Also very sticky. Switched over to the actual bar, which was much nicer. Servers were at the bar were very nice. I had the? with pastrami and smoked turkey, cole slaw, 1000 Island on Rye bread! Yum! So big I was able to take half home for lunch the next day. Interesting décor, but I think the whole place should spend the money and update. Keep the nostalgia, but clean it up and re-work the seating.

We arrived into Boone and were hungry but didn’t want to do a fast food deal. I had been to Macado’s back years ago in my high school years and wanted to introduce to my friend. The restaurant goes back quite a ways and we were seated towards the back — no worries on that. We were handed menu’s that were wet with had pieces of lettuce folded into them. To be honest, the menus’ looked so disheveled that worn that they looked like they were about to break apart. We ordered the Irish Chips as a started along with 2 beers. It was busy but not packed and our food came and we first had to ask for napkins, then she left. Then waved her down and asked for utensils and then she quickly left. Then we had to wave her down again and ask whether our beers were coming out anytime soon(assuming it had already been about 15 mins since we ordered them). She quickly came with them for us. Upon me about to take a sip, there was a HUGE fly sitting on the side of my glass at the very top of my cider. Why, how or WHAT that fly was doing there but assuming our beers hung out near the bar fro quite a long time, you would have thought someone would have noticed it. I flagged our waitress down again, nicely told her about the bug. She was mortified and apologized and got me a fresh glass quickly. We then both ordered sandwiches and everything else turned out good — the food was hot and fresh(fried mostly) but the people that were around us were just kind of annoying. Loud and obnoxious college kids but what do you expect? The restaurant is located right in the middle of main street in a college town. I suppose a regular meal with a decent amount of noise was asking for too much. We felt sick for the rest of the night from that food.

Pretty darn good food! We made the mistake of having two appetizers with our meals. I think we had the Irish Nachos and the Mexican Potato skins which were both really good. The Irish Nachos were a meal within themselves; legit, HUGE portion. The Potato skins came with four or five of them. I had the Titanic sandwich. It was similar to a French Dip. Really delicious. Their pasta salad was pretty good too. Unfortunately, I was way too full to eat it all there after the huge appetizers. Their dipping sauce(sorry, I don’t know the crazy french name for it) was delicious. I couldn’t even get over how good it was. The décor in the place was pretty cool. You could write or carve a message in the tables or walls of the place. They had a bunch of cool antique stuff as well. Pretty cute place to sit down and have lunch. What I really admired about this place was their large gluten free menu. Even though I am not gluten free, I was really impressed with their large menu accommodating those who are. Service was great – then again, Southern service usually is. :) Really glad we stopped in here for lunch. It was a nice change of pace.
