Southsound Permit

We worked with Kelle Powell to help facilitate our permitting process in Pierce County. I was not very involved in the first work she did, directly with our builder, but she did tell him that we might have to pay $ 25,000 in permit fees since we are on the water. This turned out to be completely wrong and was stress we did not need at the time. Then, when it came time to submit permits, I went with her and the builder to the county. Kelle was unprepared and flustered. She did not know how to fill out the forms. She did not know where to put the numbers for the square footage on a simple form and had to ask the agent to help her. She came across as completely incompetent.
Kelle made several mistakes on the forms that we had to cross out and redo. And because she was not prepared, they sent us away to come back the next day with more information, which was a waste of all of our time (travel time alone is over an hour). The next appointment she arrived late for, and I ended up doing the submittal myself anyway. It turns out that she also missed an important item that cost us a lot of time, headache, and money. That was the very reason we hired her in the first place: to avoid those kinds of things.
She then sent my builder an invoice for her time when I was on vacation. When I returned he told me she called him and threatened to lien our home if we did not pay. I sent her an email asking her to itemize the invoice and suggested she not bill us for the wasted time submitting since any professional would not charge us in the first place. She refused both requests and simply demanded we pay her in full. The number of hours is certainly not right. I can’t imagine how she possibly spent all the time she’s billing us for based on the work she actually did, but I do know how long she was at the office with us, and it was not near what she is billing.
I know this is a side job for her, and although she claims to have done this for many, many years, I don’t see how that can be judging from our experience. I hope ours was a unique experience with Kelle and she is of more service to other clients.
